Why is the karting so hard?

Karts are totally wrong. Braking for turn 1 makes the kart understeer into the wall, even if I give it a litle sideways move (through the wheel). Anyone who has ever driven a go-kart knows this is totally wrong, since they only have brakes at the rear axle and you use them to place the car sideways into tight corners.

Oh well, arcady track to arcady karts. Spa alone is worth the track pack.

What is this braking you speak of? Try this: practice going around the track without using brakes at all, and then slowly increase your speed. Before you know it, you'll be competing against the other karts fairly well, and you will rarely use the brakes.

For braking roll off the throttle early and roll the corners with partial throttle no brake usually. Biggest thing is not to oversteer. I can run Nurburgring Nord. in the current kart without braking at all!!!

yup

Because karting in GT5 is crap enough said really. Its just not imersive enough. And the sense of speed is pretty dire compared to real life karting which I have done quite a number of times.

Karts are different due to minimal suspension and no ABS, also their lightweightness.

They are very direct, and require soft, delicate steering and minimal corner braking.

Definitely agree with this, the karts on gt5 seem to have the brakes on all wheels or even perhaps just the front. Which is wrong! You can adapt driving style, but i just wish they sorted this out, it's easy to slide a kart on the brakes IRL.

Alright...as much as I use the kart I have never even considered taking it to the Nord....To The Ring!

Thank you, I was beggining to wonder if I was the only one with go-kart racing experience here ... 👍

The Kart Space is awesome but totally useless as the karting sucks due to bad handling and you can't drive anything else on it. Please PD, give them TCS. Or don't include karting anymore in any DLC.

EDIT: Wrong Thread *facepalm*

Definitely a lot harder with the DS3 from what I've driven, makes it seem like my kart. 👍

There is a lot more need for throttle control driving these, hence the fact that things are harder with a DS3.

Been there, done that. It's one of the more fun things you can do in GT5.

The kart is also a good way to learn a track. I'm a lot better on Madrid, in all types of cars, for having run there in an online karting league.

I think the karts are actually quite easy to handle on kart tracks, but on other tracks like the Nordschleife or even Tsubuka, I keep spinning because of the bumps.

Don't try Aso then.

Also would be almost impossible to drive on karts!

Aside from the bumps, the elevation differences are huge and karts might just die half way up a hill climb...

That would be hilarious!

Red flag the race because noone can make it up the hill :dopey:

It's pretty basic and easy... Don't stop accelerating completely. For example when taking a 60 degree turn just brake in anticipation, and then ever so slightly accelerate but just a bit.

Used the DS3 (:( don't want to use DS3) won the karting trophy and saw the AI failing at Spa Francorchamps. With a wheel it's much harder.

Driving with a DS3 and found the Karting one of the most amazing features in the game. Don't think it is too hard actually. Brake early and carefully, steer with smooth moves and don't accelerate too hard. I also recommend controller sensitivity 3 for the 125cc Kart.

Oh wow that picture is rich. Haha 👍
I don't use a wheel at all. Can't afford it. :P I use the analog sticks. Both, for steering and accelerating.

Kart is epic fun. Just be gentle on turns, I use a DS3 and it's easy. Use a lower steering sensity as well, it's better 👍

Best AI ever.

i like karts on gt5, but I think they were a lil bit useless until this DLC came out. I got to try the new ones when I have the time

I love the karts too, you just have to remember that they have no suspension other than what the tiny tyres have in their sidewalls. Also, only having a brake at the rear is both a challenge and a help, in that you can use it to pivot yourself into corners.

 What are they on?

The new Spa Francorchamps after the straight from Eau Rouge to the chicane, with the new AI difficulty drug. In the chicane there are some hills and if the AI fails to brake the kart, it overshoots the entry and hits the hills to then fly out of Belgium. I'll make a video of it tomorrow.

The only problem I have with karting in GT5, is the steering with the DFGT.

I hold the steering wheel from the sides, like normal, but when I go and steer the kart steers more than what I wanted it to.

I then noticed, while in cockpit mode, the guy is holding the steering wheel from the top sides (around the 11 & 2 pose's).

Doing that seemed to steer as much as I wanted, but had to get used to holding the wheel like that. :P

Anyway, I believe the steering for the kart's aren't 900 degrees...but the DFGT only does 900 degrees, thus causing you to turn more in the game.

Honestly, I found that initially I sucked at karting too. after I got a bit of practice, I was much better. I also became a better driver all around. Karting requires a lot of finesse; you have to anticipate the motions before they occur. Practice.
