Why no Top Gear test track?

I wanted to like the Top Gear Track, however it seemed everyone was playing bumper car drag games soon as I enter

SMH

I love any extra content I can get my hands on, and I didn't mind Top Gear before. But now I'm mad at Top Gear and their content can go screw itself!!

Why, do you ask?

They accidentally destroyed the only copy of the Mazda Furai a couple months ago; it's one of my most favorite cars that I was introduced to by Gran Turismo. I hate you Top Gear!

So that's why it's a standard...

What the hell?

Disagree with all the people that said TGTT sucks... It's a great TESTING track as it's name says. Not a racing track, obviously, because the circuit crosses itself in a "8" shape... But I used that track for setup testing and general car testing purposes and was very good.
PD Bring it back!! :(

I missed it, but I've replaced it with a new track. Willow Springs. At first I hated it, but now I'm used to it and I actually like the desolated but warm feeling it has. Big Willow is simple, short, and it has pretty much all the basic turns plus a decent straight. Perfect for testing new cars.

But yeah, TGTT was the best for doing hot laps with my cars. Not for racing though.

Willow literally feels warm.

The BBC are listed in the ending credits so maybe it's returning in the future.
Do you know how much stuff the BBC have their hands in? Watch the end of almost any TV show and most likely you'll see BBC after the end. Movies too..

Anyways. I really like the track. Normally after a new DLC was released, I'd race em and see where they stack up on the lap times. It was also a good track to find a camber setting for flat tracks with high speed corners.. I'm going to miss it, but hope it comes back.. Along with a Kia CEE apostrophe d

Working leaderboards, standing starts, the official Reasonably Priced Cars perhaps?

Still, no use crying over split milk, the TopGear track is not coming back and none of these are going to be seen in Gran Turismo.

Also wanted a course creator just to mow down some shopping trolleys for the hell of it

That video reminds me of something I've wanted GT or Forza to do with the Top Gear license. Let us recreate some of amazing and/or wacky moments from the show, like shown above. Heck, the fuel economy coffee break challenges made me wish we could do the "One-liter in the tank" supercar race TG did on the Test Track once.

TopGear should just make their own game.... I really want to push a Volvo over a cliff

The lack of standing starts in GT5 made the track pretty much pointless. It's not a good circuit for racing with more than three cars, we couldn't use the straightaway for speed tests, there were invisible walls and cones everywhere, and the special events that used the track were pathetic.

If it came back with the above problems solved, then I would be very pleased.

It's a car testing track, as its name says. Not for racing.
It's not about testing the top speed either, its about the corners, as its a twisty track with some tricky corners that really test the cars capabilities

I'd watch out what you mean on your version of "testing" .. I could test for the amount of grass that spews up for all I care..

Testing handling is something I could do in pretty much any other track.

One of the few perks of the Top Gear track is the fact that it appeared on a television show, so people will want to replicate what they do on the track in the game, namely the time attacks. But since standing starts were eliminated from GT5, time attack comparisons became stupidly hard to do.

I'm not saying that the Top Gear track had nothing to offer, I'm just saying that things that people looked forward to doing on the track couldn't be done. In that sense, it's just like any other track, but with the added bonus of invisible walls, pointless cones, and the inability to race.

GT5 did nothing good with the track.

Turn 10 may've swiped the TG track from under PDs nose, but at least GT6 still has the Nurgburgring.

Thats my opinion in a nutshell.

Anyone can get the Nurb.... If I recall correctly, they're still in 350 million € in debt

I, for one am very sad it is gone!

It is not the most glamorious, romantic place for motorsport but it does it's job well; an 'equalizer' type track where no one car/engine/weight combination can dominate here. It is a straight forward road in the old british sports car style to allow for better baselines and tuning. Forza's implementation was better but GT physics on the track was another story.

Hopefully it will come back in the near future with added features (standing starts, use of the runway for science, fun events, etc.), and PD gives the turbines on the jumbo jet more than 10 polygons each.

You can still do standing starts manually. Just stop just in front of the finish line and start a hot lap. Very few tracks have those twisty parts and many different kinds of corners. I'm not saying this because it's a famous TV show and all, I genuinely think it's a great testing track, and it was designed by Lotus, these guys know what they do.

maybe we could ask for a vision GT track from lotus....

So the track is not on GT6 because of a failed agreement? Is that true?

Sounds like a reasonable idea.
Well I imagine relicensing would cause this great deal, otherwise we would have it in an update or at least be mentioned... Im about go on the internet and look now though

Lets do some wishful thinking... They are planning an update with a proper Top Gear event, with the track, the Top Gear RP cars, and clarkson commenting :sly:

We shouldn't have to do standing starts on our own. This is something that the game should do for us. Not to mention the inaccuracies in time if you do a standing start manually.

I loved the TGTT,granted I hated the cones, and how I couldn't cut over the red/white stripes in the follow though as deeply as the stig does. I want it back,It was a great test bed for pitting tuned cars against each other. he'll I spent a s*** ton of time on that track in the last few months. I miss it. mainly as I got to live out my own personal top gear fantasies. never raced it other wise. I just hope it returns as DLC.

That has nothing to deal with the fact an agreement couldnt be reached between PD an BBC

But they've reached an agreement as the BBC are credited in the game. I think they've held it back to do it properly this time, Polyphony caught a lot of flack for Top Gear in GT5.

Like Ive said before (maybe not in this thread) the BBC are in almost everything... everything. Just because it was in there doesnt mean that they didnt do a licensing agreement for some song in the playlist. There are hundreds of thousands of things the BBC puts their stamp on.

besides, that post was about online multiplayer "mayhem" which in no doubt wouldnt cause game makers to take a track out for the sake of sportsmanship
