Why no Top Gear test track?

I'm not at loss without TTGTT, but what if they are going back to the course and fully model the course again, this time including all open runways and sections of Dunsfold, and with improvements to less restrictive or no more invisible walls, lesser usage of guiding cones, and a weather upgrade, we can see a better Top Gear Test Track.

But don't take this guess with a bag of salt. I don't know what is going on with BBC's license department, but that doesn't make the end for GT if it will never get the course again.

Speaking of BBC, I remember GT TV being something for GT fans to watch car related programs, including Top Gear. But not a single third party television program aired on GT TV, and PD had to come up with in-house documentaries to make up for it.

Have to admit I'm disappointed the Top Gear Test track is missing, but lets be honest PD didn't make very good use of the license in GT5. If they brought it back, then we need the reasonably priced cars, ghost replays of the Stig and the fastest drivers in each car.

I don't think that's too much to ask.

As for the F1 cars, I couldn't care less tbh. But I do understand that plenty of other people would like them included. I'm much happier driving expensive exotica around than race cars for the most part.

Same here. Top Gear was nice but the way they used it was pretty much a joke. And if I want F1 racing I'll get F1 2013 and have the complete set of tracks and cars for the season.

I imagine Turn 10 rocked up with more money than Polyphony did and got the TopGear license (Turn 10 have made far better use of it).
This must be where taste and other factors come into play, because I really disliked that, in F4, they inserted those idiotic BOWLING challenges in the freaking career. That was just dumb. And "The star in a reasonably priced car"? Just grab a reasonably priced car and set a lap record, what's the fuss?

PD could have done more with the TGTT, but not that much, unless you want to vex the fanbase with nonsense like futbol and bowling.

Nonsense?

Have you ever watched TopGear?

For God's sake. The TopGear content in Forza is as pointless as the lunar rover exploration mission in Gran Turismo. Yes they're pointless and "idiotic", yes they're gimmicks, but do you know what? They're fun.

Why would you even want it back? So you can do more figure 8 races against the AI?

I love the track but until they can learn to implement one of the most popular shows in the world into the game with more than 3 silly races, I don't want it in GT.

The negativity on this forum is disappointing at times. The TG license is a very popular license because the show has a global interest. I would think TG fans enjoyed driving the track and comparing their favourite cars to the actual ones on the show, I know I did. But IMO, deeper involvement with the TG crew would have been a better investment for GT5 but if they could have arranged a similar agreement I would have been fine with it.

As for the comment that the Ferrari License has ended is utter rubbish. The brand has their road cars and historic race cars in the game so obviously PD has a license agreement with Ferrari. A better comment may be a question or two. Why no Ferrari F1 cars? Perhaps the FIA is involved or Ferrari licenses their F1 cars different than their road cars?

Sorry for the rant but we get plenty negativity in our day so sometimes I just pass on a topic if I know my comments won't add value to the thread. I wish others had that same restraint. More annoying though is the non-educated talking about a topic they know nothing about. That just muddies the water for those truly interested in an answer or info. Instead of spouting off, look up the topic, get some real answers or point people in a direction that will help.

Probably because PD made a meal of the Top Gear content in GT5 and they decided to give exclusive licensing to Turn 10 instead to actually promote the show.

I wouldn't be surprised if people actually stopped watching Top Gear because of the stupid samba bus challenge. I wouldn't want that for my company.

Besides the track is ordinary anyway, especially when we now have bathurst, Ascari, willow springs etc. instead

With Stowe and Streets of Willow (this is a proper test track in my opinion, and I´m using it very much, you also have that big square to make some tests and drifts by your own...) I just forgot about it.

An "eight track" without a bridge is not a proper "race track". Is just madness.

I understand that was cool to make some times in it to compare with the actual show...but the track on its own wasn´t as fun as I personally expected, and unplayable for actual races.

Though I have a great version made for rFactor 2 and it is a blast to test the cars. (we can also use the whole area, I mean the entire landing strip)

But with Stowe and Streets of Willow...it just can´t compete.

Just like they could do a lot more with the sound and the AI? If PD could do more then they would have done it in the first place. The reality is, they did a terrible job and deserved to lose the licence.

The track itself doesn't deserve to be in Gran Turismo without the Top Gear "nonsense" that goes with it, that's what makes it famous. There are plenty of better tracks out there that should be included ahead of it

Well, some of us think Top Gear itself has become a waste of airtime, save for when Jerry quits blathering and they do something actually carworthy, like the trio entering a race day. I see nothing remotely auto or race related about car soccer or latching fireworks onto a car and launching them at traffic signs as they drive at them. If you can't get enough of that kind of fluff, this show is made for you.

And I know some of you want sounds that blast your ears off and A.I. that licks your boots after losing to you, but some of us have seen that some of these improvements have actually manifested in GT6, and aren't going to pretend they haven't in order to further an agenda.

I for one am glad its gone. Tough to follow cones instead of lines. Never had a good online race on it.

Don't worry I agree with you 100% about Top Gear, I can't even bring myself to watch it anymore. I was just saying that it's the show that made the track famous, not the track itself.

As for the sound and AI improvements, you must have bought a different version of GT6 to me because they both suck. I still love the game though...

I was very happy to see that Top Gear has disappeared from the track list.

This circuit is really uninteresting.

I don't see why people are happy to see content being removed, I personally don't care for all the American cars ingame, but I'm sure some people do, so I wouldn't be happy to see them go.

The track wasn't broken and plenty of people liked it so its a shame it has been missed out currently

Perhaps because it makes made way for newer, hopefully better, content to replace it? At least, that's what I'm hoping for. Give me Brands Hatch or Bathurst any day of the week.

I enjoyed the track but it is probably because I enjoy the show as well. If nothing else the Test Track and Ferrari F1 cars not being in GT6 gives me an excuse to break out GT5 every once in a while.

On sounds and A.I., this is just one of those things. I like the improvements, Jordan likes the improvements, a number of us do. Are they perfect? No, but really, you guys shouldn't pretend that nothing has changed for the better, because clearly they have.

On the Test Track though, I pondered your post and I just can't fathom what was lacking in what PD did with it. It's basically only good for time trials, and that's about it. That bowling silliness is one of the least mentioned features from Forza 4 on their forums last I checked, at least positively. So I'm not sure what else PD could have done, other than make the long straight into a drag strip, can't think of anything else.

Working leaderboards, standing starts, the official Reasonably Priced Cars perhaps?

Still, no use crying over split milk, the TopGear track is not coming back and none of these are going to be seen in Gran Turismo.

Also wanted a course creator just to mow down some shopping trolleys for the hell of it

For one I'd much prefer Top Gear test track that 'disqualified for hitting a wall' Goodwood festival track.

The last one is truly horrible in my opinion.

I love any extra content I can get my hands on, and I didn't mind Top Gear before. But now I'm mad at Top Gear and their content can go screw itself!!

Why, do you ask?

They accidentally destroyed the only copy of the Mazda Furai a couple months ago; it's one of my most favorite cars that I was introduced to by Gran Turismo. I hate you Top Gear!

The Furai burning is not Top Gear's fault. A mechanical fault led to a fire in the engine bay, which ended up destroying the car.

They only came clean about it a couple months ago, the fire occurred in 2008 if memory serves.

Indeed, just another case of "wrong place at the wrong time" - its the fact they covered it up for so many years that makes them appear guilty
