The Phoniex Suns were had the nba's best record this year. Will they do it again?

Nash really impressed me this season. I was never a big fan(almost a hater, actually) of Nash, but what he did with the Suns were pretty amazing. Having said that, it doesn't matter if they finish first, because you still gotta play the Spurs in the playoffs.

Indeed. They will still have to meat the spurs in the playoffs. If they keep Nash and Stodumire they probley will still be good. Last year they were one of the nba's worst teams. Nash proved that he can help a team with assists. With him on the team they had one of the nba's best turnaround's. Needless to say. They will still be good. But now that the SA Spurs have won. They might not be seaded number one.

Are you talking about Nash? I thought he earned it. Remember, it was for regular season, not the Playoffs. The Suns went from one of the worst teams in the league to team with the best record. Nash is the biggest reason for that turnaround, that I can think of.

He may have turned the team around, but his stats just aren't MVP quality. They're some of the lowest stats an MVP has ever had. Shaq deserved it this year IMO, and not just because i'm a Heat fan.

Shaq did well, also. Only problem in my eyes are that Wade was just as important as Shaq was on that team. With Nash, his stats(I don't know what type of stats he had either) almost doesn't matter, because he basically ran and lead his team to the #1 spot, in the regular season. Stats isn't everything, when it comes to the Most Valuable Player. You could have 40 PPG, 10 RPG, 4 BPG and still not win an MVP, if your team sucks. IMO, Shaq and Wade were close "runner-up" to the MVP.

Just look and see what happened in the playoffs; the Suns did well in their first two rounds, then were crushed in the conference finals. The Heat swept the first two rounds, then held the defending champions to a game 7 where they lost by less than 10 points. And all this with a roster almost full of new guys this season, including Shaq.

Let me put it this way. Nash, one player took one of the worst teams in the league, finished the season with the best record in the league. If that's not an enough argument for an MVP Award, I don't know what is. Remember, the Post Season does not count. As far as the Regular Season goes, his team finished "first".

Heat was already an Playoff team. This is how much difference/improvement Shaq and Nash made for their teams:

MVP Award is for the Regular Season only. It does not count post season!
There is an separate MVP Award for that. Tim Duncan won it.

11.5 assists per game!? Do you even know how much assists that is? I didn't know it was that many tbh. Let's just put it this way. Most of the top point guards in NBA average about half that. My favorite PG, Rod Strickland didn't average that many, his entire career, and Stric is 7th all-time Assist Leader. Most top scorers average what? 18, 20 points? Double that. Yes, Nash averaging over 11 assists are like having a guy averaging close to 40 PPG. If you play basketball, you know how hard 11 APG are.

But, I am telling you. He was the MVP. Look, I do respect your opinion on this. If Shaq is your MVP, fine, but to say Nash doesn't even qualify for MVP Award. I don't understand that, at all.

As much as I love shaq, I have to defend Nash.

Did shaq had ONE 40 pts game in the playoffs?

When Joe Johnson was out and Amare was in foul trouble, Nash carried his team the whole way in the playoffs averaging more than 30 pts per game on a certain streak of games.

Not only did he had 40 pts, but he still had his 10 - 12 assists that he usualy gets. Nash deserved it, he prooved it everybody he could score, rebound ( remember that game with 17 rebounds?), and pass.

Shaq was overshadowed by wade, to me, shaq had one of his most weak season of his whole career, where were the thunderous dunks over people? That's where my love to Shaq came from and now, there is no more of this, he has become a turn around shooter, and that, is no shaq.

Shaq, along with our entire starting lineup, was injured. Shaq had a contusion [i think] in his thigh, Haslem and E. Jones both had broken fingers (E. Jones also suffered a blow to the head during game 6 and needed stitches), Wade had a bruised rib, and D. Jones had problems with his heel.
