The question and exclamation marks are exactly how everyone is going to be saying it... Windows TEN!!??

Side note... creepy gates pic

Well that was disappointing light on info.

No word about the unified app store. No word about Cortana on all platforms.

Also this confusing pic, the Verge implied it's the new 10 Start screen for touch devices, if so that's pig ugly. Windows 8 Start screen looks great as it is, don't ruin it!

MS is very right about 8 being a pleasant experience on touch devices like tablets, in that respect there was nothing really wrong with it.

Well... at least they have proper desktop sized icons... for those of us who are sitting at a keyboard... at a desk... instead of having the screen right in our laps...

There may come a day when we can touchscreen everything... but as long as us "working drones" need to actually work on our devices, we need a keyboard-mouse friendly interface.

You can change the size of the start menu icons. Just sayin'. Also the dpi setting will have a impact on how icons are portrayed.

Considering it actually has a Start Menu, I'd say that's job 99% done.

Wait Microsoft. You could've done all those things with an update in Windows 8....

I don't think I'm gonna buy this one. I'll be waiting for Windows 20.

Windows 10 will be crap as they are skipping the "odd" version which is good or they relized that the NT version number never paired with the windows X version.

XP was 5.1.2600
Vista was 6.0.6002
7 was 6.1.7601
8 is 6.1.9200
8.1 is 6.3.9600

Major version is still NT 6
Minor is 9200

To be fair, the vast majority of people have no clue what hotkeys are, at all. And tablets don't have Alt+Tab.
How can the majority be so stupid :(. Everyone using windows should know hotkeys. I mean they haven't changed for many years.

From wiki

Threshold was officially unveiled during a media event on September 30, 2014 under the name Windows 10; Myerson said that "it wouldn't be right to call it Windows 9", and joked that "Windows One" was already taken by Windows 1.0.

Going by the last sentence given by Myerson
Wouldn't the Original Xbox be considered Xbox One?
Yet they named their latest one Xbox One.

Why the 🤬 not? Also, there is Alt-Tab in W8.1 right?

Because Microsoft is being run by some japanese person.

4 and 9 are bad numbers in japan.

So much that they skip those numbers in building floors.
8, 10
6, 7,
3, 5,
1, 2,

It isn't stupid, it is more they don't use computers enough to care. Just like how most people aren't really familar with how a combustion engine works, what a car battery actually does, how a camera work, basic navigation, color theory, typography, sports, etc. People learn what they are passionate about and typically learn just enough to get by with many other things. I'm certain someone with specialized knowledge in, say, outdoor survival would question how stupid can people be to not learn what bugs you can eat :p

Well when you follow a GPS into a lake or an active airport runway.

Stupid is the word that describes them best.

Ignorant is the word you are looking for, just FYI.

Don't think so, Ignorant means uneducated.

When you drive(meaning you have your license), we have people that drive on to train tracks or into lakes because a GPS "told them to"
That just seems stupid.
