I wanted to upgrade my old game computer built in 2010 to Windows 10 but the upgrade has failed twice, once from Windows 8 and most recently from clean and fully updated Windows 7 install. After the upgrade it goes into an endless rebooting cycle without ever getting to the login screen. Tried swapping RAM and the video cards, too bad and a real time waster too.

I would take this as a sign

You are not compatible or a higher power saying do not upgrade.

Look at the motherboard manufacturers website and see if it is compatible for windows 10.

Normally you may need to do a BIOS update, enable secure bot ect, make sure your hardware is compatible too.

Just cause windows says it is, doesnt make it so.

My new PC should arrive next week. I've ordered a copy of 7 Professional 64-bit to go onto it, but I'm considering immediately upgrading to Windows 10. I use 10 on my laptop and I've not got many complaints, but I do wonder what's going to be like on a desktop.

I had no complaints on my laptops with W10. I resisted upgrading this desktop until a few weeks ago... it's far far better with W10 than I expected :D

Still fighting with this.

Drives G and K are by me. New Volume I tried to create as a system reserved partition but failed.

It's forcing me to update too. I set it to update on Saturday. Honestly, the only reason I haven't yet is because I'm too lazy to do it.

Right now, the only thing going to force my hand in upgrading is if Final Fantasy 15 comes to PC and is W10 only.

EDIT: To be clear, I'm not opposed to W10. Just hesitant until I'm sure my game collection works right.

If you just listen to what people tell you and don't actually research yourself what the "surveillance" is, perhaps.

I have read everything I can about Windows 10 and nothing at this point is going to change my mind about how much, in my opinion, 10 is a car crash from both a visual and technical standpoint. It was released in a beta state and is so cobbled together with no cohesiveness whatsoever, no wonder they are not charging $100 plus for it. The amount of focus it has on data mining over everything else staggering.

Currently on Windows 10! I like how it looks. Sadly, my DS3 drivers aren't working so I'll have to fix that.

Windows 10 is smaller then Windows 7? My SSD originally had 20GB's left including a couple programs installed on the drive.

Now i have 40gbs left. :dopey:

That would due to the WinSXS folder growing larger and larger.

A clean install of win7 is normally less than 20gb with all drivers that are needed

Is that the windows gadget platform or some other widget program?

I loved that about windows 7 but when windows 8 was being released, they dropped the gadget library and all gadgets on the internet linked back to it, so it became useless.

If you mean Motioninjoy, you need to set the date on the computer to 2014 to install the program, then restart the computer with digital driver signing disabled to install the actual drivers.

Oh I fixed it by having DS3 Tools running in compatibility mode for Windows 8. Thanks anyway.

I got the toolbar to be transparent. I love it.

Same here, i ignored it until now so they just decided they would force it on me even without my permission:

Luckily you can download this little app and get rid of it all (and the notifications):

Bloody stalkers.

So after an image restore, on Windows 10 and really liking the UI. Games seem slightly quicker to load and better on FPS as well.

How exactly do you get screenshots so large?

I use this program called puush.

Use keyboard shortcuts or drag-drop gestures to quickly capture any portion of your screen. These screenshots are near-instantly puush'd, leaving behind a short URL in your clipboard, perfect for sharing. Paste these easily into your Twitter, IRC or IM clients. Share them with the world or make them private, for your eyes only.
