The Old/New DBS wasn't supposed to be a comparison.![]()
I'd rather have the 289, because it's a legitimate Shelby. I can see why some people who aren't fans of Shelby's would choose the kit, though. Because it's faster...
Yes, I had a Shelby-only Dealership in my town. They had 427 Cobras with the current year for sale. The sell the 427's with the CSX-4000 tags (production resumed in 1997) and you can get the body in either aluminum or fiberglass. You can also get 289 models.Doesn't Shelby still make Cobra's new?
Let me add that the very same Cobra I posted up there (original) sold for $825,000 at an auction a few weeks ago.
The kit can be had for $19,990 minus engine/transmission/rear end, wheels/tires, and a paint job (which are added after you get the kit).
Not trying to change any of the above opinions, just adding some information I forgot.
Doesn't Shelby still make Cobra's new?
No. The closest Ford came to reviving the Cobra was the 2002 concept. Also the original Cobra was made by UK-based AC Motors. Shelby supplied the 427 engine.
Wrong. Production resumed in 1997. http://shelbyamerican.com/427sc.asp
Yes, but they're not really original. They're still kits, sort of.
If I understand correctly, they are pretty much exact replicas, but using modern touches and fiberglass (mostly) instead of aluminum. You can also get your '14 Shelby Cobra with carbon fiber.
SlashfanWhen you purchase you have the option of buying them in either fiberglass or aluminum. They have new vin tags, so yes they are new, and not 1960s cars, but they are the same car as the 1960s cars. Just a new year.
This is the indoor dealership in town.
Look at that poor baby.... looking out on the street, as all these cars pass by, running happily. Aww, he can't wait to get on the road. Imma go buy him.
*looks for couple thou' lying around.*
