That power stage was great!

Will try and remember to watch the other rallies live on BT Sport. 👍

Latvala's reaction was great! Was clear to see that meant a lot to him. Ogier looked devastated even though he won the rally. Just goes to show how much he wants to win.

Congrats to Bouffier and Meeke on their first WRC podium finishes, here's to many more

Excellent final stage and an amazing drives from Latvala, Ogier and Meeke, the conditions were some of the worst I've ever seen and made for some amazing viewing.

Great to see (from my point of view) a Brit back on the podium for the first time in a decade.

I hope this bodes well for the rest of the year.

I apologize if anyone stated yet, but I'm drunk. Is there a link to the race?.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize the race was over. Sorry. See above for the reason.

Good coverage from BT Sport. Great to see so much WRC this weekend and a fair few live stages.

I've been mildly interested in the WRC for about 10 years now and I watched the live power stage live on BT last night and I really enjoyed it, I'm looking forward to there rest of the season..

It sure did. 👍

Great results for Bouffier and Meeke. Disappointing that both Hyundai’s didn't finish though. Also looking forward to the rest of season.

So much epic. From VW Motorsport facebook.

I was under the impression that shakedown times were meaningless this weekend because of the weather. The stages are going to quickly turn to mud because there has been so little snow so some of the drivers drove the shakedown as slow as they could to protect their studded tyres.

That IS true. Drivers like Hirvonen slowed WAY down to reduce the damage to their studded tires.

It will be a intresting Swedish rally this year.

Where are you guys watching it? The livestream isn't available in my country. :indiff:

I just check youtube the next day and hope to find some sort of coverage. I was able to watch the Monte Carlo powerstage live on the website, that was pretty cool.

Edit: Here's stage 1, not English though.

I guess the 2nd run through the stages today will favour the cars later on the road, most of the snow will have gone and they'll be running on mud, as such Ott Tanak is fastest through SS5 ahead of Neuville's Hyundai.

Yeah same deal for me. The official WRC site said there would be coverage for the US, but Fox Sports 1 seems to have nothing scheduled and there isn't even a blip of a mention on the FS website.

What gives?

Stop me if this is a stupid question, but how similar are WRC regulations to World RallyX's Supercar regulation? I noticed that the Polo R and i20 have crossed over to RallyX fairly easily.

"Outwardly, the Citroën DS3 Supercar looks similar to the Citroën DS3 WRC that Petter campaigned in the 2011 World Rally Championship. Under the skin though, they are very different beasts. Essentially, there’s a lot more freedom in the rallycross regulations, and the cars themselves are faster. This allows the engineers to have almost as much fun as the drivers…
Rallycross cars have to use any standard engine block from the car manufacturer, meaning that they can run any size of engine with a 45mm turbo restrictor. This puts out up to 600 horsepower and delivers truly explosive performance.
"

"There’s more freedom in the chassis as well. You can modify the bodywork in order to cater for the unique demands of rallycross, with vents for the rear-mounted radiators for example: a standard feature of rallycross cars that stops dirt getting sucked into the engine and improves weight distribution. The minimum weight of rallycross cars is 1300 kilograms: making them truly featherweight racers."

"The brakes and wheels have some serious work to do, so they tend to be bigger than what you will see on even the top World Rally Cars."

"The suspension regulations are also reasonably open, with many teams tending to use WRC technology. Petter’s Citroën is set to make use of McPherson struts with three-way adjustable shock absorbers, just like the ultra-successful DS3 World Rally Car."

Well done to Latvala on the Sweden win 👍

Really enjoyed the action over the weekend :)

I finally have a reason to watch WRC again. Goodbye, Canadian Rally Championship, you'll be boring without Leo. Hello WRC, which might actually be interesting.

For those of you who don't know, "Crazy" Leo Uhrlichich is the "craziest" rally driver in the world. He has spectacular driving style, hits me in the face with snow/dirt when driving past, and has spectacular crashes.

I suspect, people will start wagering on which stage he crashes in... Normally the first stage.

... Or he might have an 8 minute lead, and then bend a camshaft.

Anyways, CRC will never be the same.

Can never be in same league as Evegny Novikov, Marcus Gronholm, or Gigi Galli though. WRC is definitely a sport to watch now, and within 3 years I reckon it will be back to its old glory days
.

There's a Russian guy by the name of Aleksandr Lukyanuk who could probably beat him to that title. He started out driving a Group N Lancer for fun and started beating the serious S2000 drivers with ease.

See Alexey at work. There is an interesting bleeping moment from about 2:45 mark.

No doubt, this Aleks guy is fast/talented, but he's not "crazy," it seems. He's just fast/talented.

Crazy Leo is, as I said, probably the craziest rally driver in the world. He is basically the most likely to roll his car in dramatic fashion or hit a giant rock cliff... As he has done on numerous occasions... And then blog about how much fun he had, and say that he smashed into "Canada."

I doubt this Aleks guy has the personality Leo has which further sets him apart.

That's one of the reasons why I watch the CRC. It's interesting to consider Leo's "win or crash trying" style. 99% of the rallies he competes in are full of absolutely insane all-out pushing... Including 2013 Rally of the Tall Pines, which, as I said, he was going to win by 8 whole minutes... On unstudded winter tires on snow/ice/frozen gravel. His driving was artistic.

Everyone else was driving normally, but every time Leo drives, he pushes the limit and either crashes, breaks something, or finishes on the podium. He holds nothing back.

Obviously not WRC material though.

Like it or not, he's in WRC now. :p
And no one agrees about your opinion, since it's going against the fact that he's in WRC. He's in WRC. The link I posted, he's in WRC. You and your disbelief - which is what it is - can verify my facts.

What kind off :odd: was that about?

WRC3 is lowest rung of the WRC. Granted it's still WRC, but all that CRC experience can only land him lowest class in WRC. So he's not going to set world on fire any time soon. At least he is on global stage however.

^And you don't know what other opinions are so you can't judge... and disbelief? What? Only disbelief is you saying that

So, you contradicted yourself.

WRC is WRC.

And, yes, I can totally bash your opinion for basically saying that someone who drives in WRC isn't WRC material. It's called hypocrisy, and it's an invalid opinion.
