WTF! GT4 is NOT online

Where did this info come from?
Im not overly concerned if its not included casue that means I wont have to shell out for broadband :P

Doesn't make any difference to me, as I'd probably never play it online anyway. Mostly due to the fact that I don't have the network adapter, and even if I did, I'd have to either run cable upstairs or move my entire DSL system downstairs to where the PS2 is. PITA either way, so I'll stick with one-player. :)

Mabey PD wernt happy with the quality of online play? Kaz is a perfectionist and wouldnt put anything in the game that wasnt up to scratch. They better have so bloomin amazing AI to make up for it though.

Edit: I cant seem to find it on GTworld.com, are you talking about a different site?

The Japanese site. Here is another story on it, what a let down

We spoke to you about it, a few days ago (see news), the date of exit, in Japan, of Gran Turismo 4 had become fuzzy after the publication of the newplanning of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. Today, at the time of the opening of Tokyo Game Show, Polyphony DIGITAL announced that its title would be, finally, available on next 3 December, with the country of Sun-Raising. With regard to Europe and the United States, the arrival of GT4 will take place on December 14!
Unfortunately, enormous disappointment, and the word is weak, this software will not be, finally, not playable on line because of too many technical difficulties. The online mode being practically finished, it is not, however, not to exclude that a future version of GT4 proposes this option. Who said Gran Turismo 4 Epilogue?

this is from the japanese official site? maybe its a culture/translation misunderstanding, as japan has a lot of broadband connections, and there are things as LANs that make up an entire, city. or maybe LAN could just be implied as broadband, or maybe its a strategy to get people to buy gt4 mobile for online play (if taht has it, that is) or, well i just hope its an "or...", and that its not just local setup, cause i would like to play with/agaisnt friends and family back home.

EDIT: nevermind, just read post above mine that wasnt there when i started writing mine.... :ouch: :grumpy: :(

Well that does suck.
But I supose it would be for the best, otherwise they would have to many people complaining about how usless it is online.

I bought the network adaptor for GT4 since Dec
now telling me no online feature .... :ouch:

SO NOW THE QUESTION IS!

if you had a choice would u rather get your gt4 in December with no online play.
or wait for a 2005 release with online play.

(is it possibel to add a poll?)

Well thats a HUGE dissapointment. If it is really true.

As much as i love the GT series but PDs policy concerning GT4 slowly but surely is starting to really get on my nerves ...

I could give a damn if it had online play. It sounded like PD was having too many problems with it from the start. Just think, we could be playing GT4 now if they didn't bother with all this online nonsense.

This is what a few other sites say,"GT4 was playable online, in a specially marked "online gaming" section of the booth."

The question now is,wich is the truth?

Perhaps, with the bad translation, what they are actually saying is that the version PD took to the Tokyo show still didn't have the online option for people to try-out?

So you think they suck becasue they MIGHT leave out one option of the game out? What about the rest of the game?

Hmmm this could truly be bad news... but I still wouldn't've played it online until February 2006 anyway so it wouldn't've mattered me in the short term!!

Time for me to remove the Network Adapter from my wish list at Amazon though!!

I'm not overly fussed about racing other people online, but the possibilities for online communities, car-trading, sharing replays/drift movies etc. will also be seriously limited... presumably these possibilities will be available via web forums etc., and so a network adapter for the PS2 is probably still a wise investment (although the new slimline PS2 already has an ethernet connector built-in)... Most people on this forum don't seem too interested in 'competing' and probably prefer on-line challenges, or co-operative/team-based racing (i.e. endurance racing), but despite the presence of thriving forums such as this one, surely the game should now come equipped with some form of interaction beyond your own network, so that we shouldn't have to rely on web postings?

It seems that Forza (on Xbox) will probably steal a march on GT4 now, which is a real shame, because GT4 is undoubtedly a far superior beast, but this will be a major disappointment to alot of people... Although I don't like PGR2 much, the capability of being able to talk to your opponents or your mates while playing from anywhere in world is a real bonus, and GT4 will be the poorer without such a capability.

I'm disapointed however not too fussed about it.

After just reading that there will be over 650 cars and NOS.......it makes up:)

And all those facilities........fantastic.

Mr Kaz if you are reading this now I can truly understand why you've pulled it out, wait for PS3 and then you can perfect what is already perfected 👍

this definitely ruined my gt4 expectations. online play, for me, was the biggest part of the game. i wonder if the lack of online play is for all versions of the game, or just the japanese one. or mayb just a bad translation all together.

Online play was the thing I was looking forward to the most. But if at least the LAN option stays, then at least we can move on to having GT4 LAN Parties which is at least some consolation.

I dont care its not online...i have just read some new things that will be in the game on Granturismo world....now you dont even have to drive your cars enymore.....you can let the AI handle it and you can be teammanager...good for the lazy gamers..or the complete nOObs.

It doesn't matter to me. I mean I wasn't gonna pay a wad load, just to beat you guys anyway.
