Considering the images don't seem to work, you might want to upload them to this forum rather than linking outside.

Or simply describe what the car is. Chances are it's a real car driven by many thousands of Japanese every day (i.e. Daihatsu Midget), or it's some concept car or another that they thought would be "cool" to put in there.

Short answer is that the cars are there because the developers put them there. If you want to find out why, talk to the folks at Polyphony, no one here is going to know what's in KY's head.

It can't be ridden as a bicycle if it has 3 wheels and a motor :/. To answer your second question, I believe that'd Jay Lenos custom "tank car"...correct me if I'm wrong. *Edit: nevermind, I'm not sure what the second car is.

Ya, it is Jay's "tank car".

and what car is this?

Whoops, I forgot the GT series is only supposed to have Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans in it right? Only current generation street racers.

What was PD thinking putting cool old and obscure cars in GT4.

F%$k them huh! I ain't buying the game now!

Seeing as it's the first car ever (1886 Benz Patent) it very much should be in the game that is capturing a vast amount automotive history.

Likewise the Ford Model T belongs seeing as it was the first assembly line or mass produced automobile.

The second is Leno's tank car (has an engine from a tank) and it should rock the kasbah on the drag strip... oooooh the torque!!!
"That's an engine, specifically, an aluminum air-cooled 1792-cubic-inch V-12 making 810 horsepower and 1590 pound-feet of torque" from Car&Driver

i really hope there not delaying the game for BS like those cars. in its time 18?? the Benz was "the" car i guess, but the Leno car. now thats just BS.

The patent car produces about .75 (3/4) horsepower at 400 rpm. Road Rocket. :sly:

Leno's Tankrod:
810bhp V-12/8900 lbs.
0-60 - 6.2 sec
1/4-mile - 14.7 @ 93 mph
top speed - est. 140 mph

Fuel Economy: 5 mpg :D

Edit: for the below post - 1000ft. Slalom @ 36.2 mph, with 11 turns lock to lock on the steering wheel. Nope! Leno supposedly clocked a 12.99 sec quarter mile in the thing, though.

oosacker
does it have good handling?

Well lets see. It has a tank engine. A Mac truck rear end and a Military hauler chassis and weights 8900lbs....let alone the wheelbase is HUGE.

I would say it handles like a, ummmm....a Tank!

:)

i actually saw Leno driving it on a show on speed channel. It looks more nimble than you would think but is huge, gigantic!

ahaha "tankrod" is a very suitable name for something like that. how much does it weight ? is that 8900 lbs in weight ? or does the engine have 8900 foot pounds of torque !? because if it does that is INSANE !! if you welded a one foot rode directly off the crank of the engine, and hung 8900 pounds on it, it would still turn ! that is crazyyy. it must haul ! but being so big its weight probably balances out. later-

in its time 18?? the Benz was "the" car i guess

Yes. Literally. It was "THE" car, for there were no others.

I actually looking forward to taking "the Benz" around the Nurburgring. It will be my very own 24hours at the 'Ring...all in one lap.

Just remember to work up some momentum for the hills... that car might not be able to make it uphill if you don't have a good running start. :) At least the Model T has a chance at it.. that thing's got a monster 22hp.

Since this thread was dead from the start, I don't mind going a little more O/T:

did anyone see the jetbike Lenno has? it has a helecopter jet engine in it and it (like all jet engines) keeps on producing more thrust the faster you go - it's hell on the ears, though.

hahaha, heaven forbid I put a wheel over the curb, I'll rip it off and b-line it into the wall at 3mph!

I wonder if the TC will kick in! Or what "upgrades" are available. Can someone say "wing" on the rear of the puppy!

With the range of cars PD has put in Gt4 it will be curious to see how they all work and play.

Still should be fun. Besides the RUFs that, the model T and the VW Bug are the others cars I am anticipating the most. I have a Skyline R34 in the demo right now so I am a happy camper...but want my RUF CTR "Yellowbird" pronto! With the damn TC off!

I'm wondering, once someone undoubtedly cracks the game for hybrids, what a normal street car with the tank engine will feel like.

:D

Sir, I like how you think. May I subscribe to your newsletter?

Normal street car? Phooey... What about that Benz? :)

The 'Benz would implode under the weight.

Now the 'Benz with an F1 engine and tires....that would be a scary and raw experience.
