At least now I found out that more chances the yangwang will come out earlier then the Xioami, in the game hopefully these cars would be great on high speed nurburgring races!

The big problem with all EVs is their weight. I find that in GT, most cars only really corner well if they weigh under 1300 kg. It's even better if they weigh under 1200 kg.
But these are values that no EV has achieved so far. Higher weight = longer braking distance and lower cornering speed -> time loss.
Only through their exceptional power above 1500 hp and torque, sometimes well over 2000 Nm, can EVs gain some time during acceleration. However, this doesn't compensate for the loss per corner.
So I don't think it will be much fun chasing these cars around the Nürburgring. It will be more of a struggle to keep the car on the asphalt on the narrow track.

Love it or hate it, this car is creating a lot of discussion and that's exactly the sort of thing BYD wants. I don't think a Ferrari 355 would create as much discussion. China know a thing or two about propaganda and it's clearly rubbed a few people the wrong way. I think they're more than happy to play the role of "disruptor" in the automotive scene.

I do appreciate having more and more manufacturers, the more global the better. Chinese cars, sure, maybe at some points some Protons, some south american one-offs, eastern bloc cars, theres so much to see and to do in the world of cars! Although I appreciate some classics (the w196r was my favourite addition from the past years), its always good to see more.

I know some people go to the side of any product or service from a country being propaganda and, while its completely understandable, I do think that we can at times chill on that a bit. We can go into the nuances of which manufacturers have state backing - not only the Chinese, but also the French, the Americans, etc - and analyse how each of these backings is different from the others. That's an entire geopolitical discussion on itself.

Coming from South America, I grew up surrounded by displays of soft-power from 1st world countries. American movies, european videogames, you name it. You can go deep in studying the consequences and nuance, but that might leave you paralyzed against any game, movie, music you enjoy. This is all to say "it's not that deep".

But it's pretty standard all in all. Manufacturer wants their car in the GT game, they bring Kaz over to say good things and drive a car around a track. Guy has been doing this since many GTs ago. You just have to read the in-game descriptions (especially the pre-race ones and the café), they read like press releases more than anything else.

Enjoy the cars. PD working on a Yangwang doesn't mean they're scraping their backlog of classic JDM.

OH ALSO, the yangwang is not my type of car at all, but it can make for some awesome weekly events and the occasional hypercar brawl <3

I've just checked the Suggestions/Cars forum and there's an identical number of threads and votes for any Yangwang U9 and any production C8 Z06: none. Obviously nobody's that bothered by either. You could always make a thread and see what happens?

There's two threads (and a combined seven votes) for pre-production prototype C8 Z06s though. I always find people jumping on pre-prod cars weird, especially when they don't bother with the actual car. Gotta be first, I guess.

In any case, there's four as-yet unknown cars coming in December, and while one of them might be the Xiaomi SU7 (I still think it's too early; don't bet on it before March), it almost certainly won't be the Yangwang U9 (next summer at the earliest).

Given the recent inclusion of the official CX concept and the VGT CX.R concept - in combination with filling in gaps in the Corvette generations and the Corvette One-Make events seen in Weekly Challenges - one might opine that the clearly enhanced lines of communication 'twixt Chevrolet and PD may raise the chances of higher-performance C8 models.

I remember when people said that about the Bugatti Veyron.

Virtually the entire internet **** on it because it wasn't as clever as a McLaren F1 and was basically a fat, AWD tank with 1000hp just meant to go fast and couldn't handle like the F1 and would never win Le Mans like the F1 and at twice the (original) price was just for rich posers unlike the F1 which was only bought by smart wealthy car-loving guys like Elon Musk.

I remember when the Veyron has indeed proven to be a terrible investment with considerable depreciation. It wrote its paragraph in the history book but is still not universally desirable. The EV wave is probably going to drive the car up but that has less to do with the car itself than market-wide ICE availability.

The market says otherwise. They regularly trade over $1.5m-$2m. A 23,000 mile one still fetched $1.2m for a car that retailed $1.25m when it was new in 2006.

Inflation on that base price you mention is over $2m today. That ignores the car's extreme running costs combined with the fact you can't actually use it for anything means it's a solid loss across the board. A TRD Pro is a better value proposition.

None of that is what you originally claimed, though; the car has no longer depreciated & the market is paying over MSRP b/c they are now collectors' cars. If you need a more common example, Curated sold a $2m MSRP Super Sport for $3.4m this year.

A TRD Pro is a completely different type of vehicle as well & effectively renders this conversation pointless if you're going to move posts, not to mention we're off topic now anway. 🫤

That would be great if the 4 remaining cars are not one we're expecting, and even better if they are highly requested or nostalgia cars... But what about the Panda? Do you think it would match the range of time modelling? My theory is if the Xiaomi was coming in this update, they would have said so, because we know for sure it would come since a few months already

fingers crossed that none of the 4 remaining cars are any of these 2, at least for Yangwang we can be sure that it will not be there, and SU7 I hope it will be in a future update too.

Some context: Gran Turismo's official Chinese name is 跑车浪漫旅 which can be literally translated to Sports Car Romantic Journey. I think this is actually a good Chinese name since it captures the essence of the game. But in real world we rarely use this name because it's just too...ROMANTIC. We simply call it GT7.

Chinese translations of proper nouns are rarely what you'd expect, largely because there's not really any direct way of translating them: it doesn't use a phonetic or romanised alphabet, unlike Japanese where you can just use the nearest sounds and plug in the appropriate katakana.

A Chinese peer on my MSc. course translated my name as "beautiful flower", which was somewhat optimistic.

Edit: Wait... was she flirting with me? ****!
