You know you're bad at GT5 when...

When your Bspec BOB is a better driver than you

The day that happens I'll officially give up gaming.
Although I'll probably be too pre-occupied with shouting profanities at Bob - as he translates 'overtake' as 'follow that guy in 2nd last place, and only attempt an overtake before a hairpin'. :p

Relax - that's what this thread is about...you'd need to be pretty bad at GT5 to rely on RS all of the time.

So even though all the hardest A-spec events (FGT Cup, ...) and in the gross majority of online lobbies (well over 90%) everyone uses Racing compounds, if we use them, its because we 'need' them and we suck at GT5

Lets be honest here. You tinker around with comfort hards so you can be a tire compound elitist and make fun of anyone who doesnt share your interest in rubber bands for tires

Its a racing game, we all strive to make our cars as fast as possible and everyone uses racing slicks because its the quickest way around a track.. hop off the podium big man

Well said Sean.

Racing game = Racing tyres

I'm with MeanElf...

I use RS for 90% of things, and can definitely admit that i'm a novice at the game for doing so. These tyres are almost cartoonish, the way they allow any car to rocket around a track as if on Scalextric tracks. Diving in and out without a hint of smoke or understeer.
Anyone who can't ditch them and use anything below RM is definitely not, IMO, a good driver.

I use all types, however, if you can't get RS tyres to spin up, you must be gentle on the throttle. Just drive a fully tuned ACR with the stock transmission.

...When you get mad at others for looking down on Racing Soft tires.

We all have our preferences. Although it seems 90% of lobby hosts don't understand what the tire restrictions are for. Also, shouldn't you guys be restricting people to Racing Mediums now with all the cheaters on Racing Super Softs out there? :sly: (Hard to imagine any more grip than Racing Softs, that would turn GT into a full-on arcade racer, maybe that's why they left out the Super Softs, )

I do try to make my car as fast as possible within a given set of regulations. The problem is that most people don't have any regulations other than PP when setting up their public lobby, Hence I stay away from those for the most part.

If I want to have fun racing I'll use roadcars with Comfort Softs mostly. For hot lapping and just driving for the sake of it, I use Comfort Softs for 1960s race cars also. Sports Hards for the 1970s. Group Cs probably didn't have much more grip than the Sports Softs in the game. If the Auto Union C Streamliner was in the game I would use Comfort Hards with it. Seriously.

When you bring a Veyron to a road car online race at La Sarthe and still lose.

When you drift in 3rd person view.

When you brake to take corners in your X2010.

When you fully upgrade a car but never touch any settings.

When you spell you're in the thread title incorrectly. (Sorry someone had to be that guy)

You should be braking in a x2010, that attitude is why no one online can really drive them well. Nothing wrong with chase cam, I use all views personally.

When you take out some and they catch from being down 10 seconds down to beat you by 15 seconds in a 5 lap face

...When you get over lapped in a one lap race, and you have the faster car/have a same performance car.

When you lose to someone driving backwards.

When you drive so slow that the rammers can't even hit you.

When you drive better with a dead controller.

Hei

Damn, that guy was going to be me. Glad I read the entire thread.

...When you oversteer on the first turn on Daytona (guilty as charged) :banghead::ouch:
