What was the very first GT game you played?

My very first GT game was GT1 when I was roughly 5 or 6. Don't recall my starter car, but I think it was a Mazda Demio or a similar kei car. I then went through GT2 all the way to now, but not exactly in that order. My starters actually were Mitsubishi's or Nissan's. And since they were all destroyed b/c of my carelessness + saves, I repurchased pretty much of all them except GT1 - still looking for that one.

This thread's great, nice to read that so many other players have happy GT memories too :D

My first was GT2, I bought GT retrospectively after that.

First car... Mitsubishi FTO in black, I think, but it was a long time ago now!

I first got GT3 when I was 5 years old back in 2002. I think my first car in that game was a black PT Cruiser. I had so many memories with that car. But I never got a memory card until I was 6 so I had to keep starting over again and again, switching my starting cars between the MX5 and the PT Cruiser. But since I was 6 and didn't actually know what a memory card was, I thought it was for cheat codes and I ended up getting disappointed  I also was in love with that Viper Race Car that was in arcade mode and all I wanted to do with it was to beat the 787B on Midfield Raceway :)

My first experience was when I rented gt1 and nfs 3 at the same time.

My mates played gt1 and at the time I was a nfs fan so I played it instead.

A few hours later we swapped and I was hooked on gt1 I think I started with a FTO.

First post. In the words of James May, hello!

demo_one_1.jpg

I think it was Christmas, 2000, and today the only game I remember from that demo is Gran Turismo. Says it all.

Is that demo 1 for the PS2? Because the demo 1 I had for PS1 was purple and definitely didn't have GT1 on.

After reading the posts here i so want to get a PS1, GT1 and 2..will it be worth it??

Why not get a ps2 to play gt 1 to 4.

Ps2 is compatible with ps1 games.

No need to get a PS1. The PS3 can play PS1 games.

Oh ok, on my PS3 250GB you can't. :indiff:

Well I have my PS2 Slim still, so im all good. :D

I traded mine when the ps3 came out silly me thought it would be backwards compatible.

Ill pop down to game traders they have all the old systems.

GT5 was the very first game I played when I bought my PS3 in June of last year, I instantly fell in love with the game, I am now on A-Spec 37 and B-Spec 40. I forgot my first car, probably because it was a piece of crap, but the car I won my first race with was the Acura DNX concept I got from the GT5 birthday gift. Now I have over 400 cars and....oops, I forgot what I was going to say. Oh well!

Trouble is your Memories of GT1/GT2 will be in High Def - but when you replay an Old game you will see a drastic drop in graphical quality - Maybe be best to keep those memories in the old rose tinted shades.

No I have seen gt2 in its low res greatness that doesnt bother me.

Played a lot of GT1. Then basically skipped all the other games until GT5:Prologue.

Wow you missed alot of great stuff from previous gt's.

GT5 was a birthday gift from my wife. First game I have played in this series. Have not played in awhile so today I am doing some catching up on the seasonals. I don't have a backwards compatible ps3 so I cannot play the other versions. I don't believe they are available from the psn store but I could be wrong.

Started with GT3, ah good times. Started with a Miata, and imported credits to start GT4 with the HPA Stage II Golf R32. Which was cheaper than a normal stock R32 in the game for whatever reason.
