I'm going this weekend. What's your favorite thing to do out in the overpriced desert?

WET Republic at MGM, LAX at the Luxor, that's assuming you're into the clubbing scene. If this is your first time, you're best off just walking the strip and checking out every casino/hotel there. The malls and shops and all that should be interesting enough to take up the weekend.
If I go back again, I'm going to stay off the strip and visit all the good restaurants they have there.

Yeah we're not really into clubs. So far we have tickets for Cirque and dinner reservations for Saturday and Friday.

Do the Gondola at the Venetian, not sure if the outside part opened up yet as it was closed a couple weeks back.
Oh visit walgreens or something and buy a case or two of water.

During the day/evening, I liked to just sight see or do some of the free/cheap stuff. During the night, just gamble & drink. Didn't see very many shows when I went, unfortunately.

Penn & Teller show!

Try out Via Brasil – it’s about 10 miles off the Strip but worth it. I haven’t been a big fan of any of the hotel buffets I’ve been to except the Venetian’s (though I’ve only gone to a few).

Go see strippers  Just kidding, I like to go to expensive casinos and see drunk rich people lose their money! 👍

There is a national park around Vegas area. There are a few drive in theaters, Circus Circus is there. However, I think that there is a few cons going on. I just came back from Vegas for Evo. The Rio has a Vodoo show including Penn and Teller. If your interesting into fighting games, Insert Coin: the Arcade Bar just opened up. ( Also, the Rio has a live dance that happens every night on the Casino floor)

Get drunk, marry a stripper, steal a tiger, lose your front teeth, borrow a police car, get tasered, kidnap a naked Chinese crime lord, grow a beard and call yourself Alan.

We did that on our honeymoon. The colour of the water (and the crystals on the water's edge) scares me, but it was fun :D

Ahh, the Chicken Song. I remember it well... :D

Other good things to do in Vegas:
  • Watch the Bellagio fountains by day and by night (bonus points for standing in the central bay, with eleven other men in suits).
  • Watch the Bellagio fountains by night from the top of the Bally's/Paris half-scale Eifel tower (this is epic)
  • Watch the sun set from the viewing deck of the Stratosphere
  • Imperial Palace car museum - they have two RS200s!
  • Watch the Mirage volcano show - this gets quite warm, surprisingly.
  • Take the Deuce to the top of (or bottom of) the Strip (depending on where you're staying) really early in the morning and walk the entire Strip going into every major casino on the way and collecting a $1 chip as a souvenir (Caesar's is the only one you'll have to get from a table rather than the cashiers). You can see our effort in the Famine's Family Holiday 2 thread...
  • Go west to Mount Charleston. Go skiing if you feel like it, but make sure you go up to the lodge at the top and have a Wobbly Coffee.
  • Put it all on red. Just once.

I haven't been since they put up ARIA and Vdara (apparently Vdara has a design flaw which makes a solar death ray on the pool area at certain times of day  ) so I can't advise on anything there.

I like to shut up and put my money where my mouth is, 'cuz thats what I get for waking up in Vegas...

Compared to UK prices they're free

Is the Planet Hollywood one still the best?

I judged Mandalay Bay to have the best buffet.

I was only here about 48 hours, and quite broke even before the plane landed, so I enjoyed someone else's free ride.

Jabbawockeez are at the Monte Carlo
Pirate show at Treasure Island
Water show at Mirage
Mini Eifel Tower
Clubs everywhere
Casinos everywhere
