So i was on my way to my first ever win last night in fixed trucks at the rock, just to be taken out in turn 3 on the last lap by a divebombing lunatic. I swear to god i wish you could pull a tony stewart in this game. I keep on getting second place, its getting annoying. Hopefully i can redeem myself tonight.

I just finished 7th in a Indy oval fixed race without making one legitimate pass. We had a single 6 or 7 lap run under green, that's it. Everything else was caution laps or wrecking on the restart or shortly after.

Most boring hour of my week by far. Got a decent iRating boost, but only because I was smart enough to realize it was going to be a caution fest early on and purposely restarted near the back of the field each time. Didn't earn a bit of it.

Let me guess? Stan Rogers, Albert Oldendorph, Eric Kardsten?
Bunch of knuckleheads and steer clear of them.

My last race went ok. I managed to get up to 3rd place from 7th place start. Once there my nerves kicked in and I started driving crap and ended up 4th.

Anyone got any tips for that, or is nerves something that comes with experience?

You've just got to train yourself to focus, you need to start recognising when your mind is wandering and re-focus on your lines, braking points and the next corner.
Sometimes I turn off the gaps to the other cars and try to get in the zone where I'm just running laps in practice or something. I tend to set my fastest laps when I relax and allow myself to focus just on driving, rather than worrying about the guys ahead or behind.

That's it really. When it comes to keeping your composure when people are breathing down your neck - that comes with experience. But again its mainly about ignoring them as best as you can (obviously still keeping track of where they are going to try and attack).

I actually think its tougher following another car, because its easy to then run the same pace as them when you could be going faster. Its also easy to follow people off the track, its tricky making sure to focus on your own line as well as trying to find an advantage to catch the other guy.

But yeah, when I catch myself checking the gaps every corner or looking in my mirrors, I try to focus back on my driving. But then its also important not to get too nervous making sure you're perfecting your braking or whatever! It's all about staying relaxed!

Thanks for the advice Ardius.

I just did another race focusing on maintaining a smooth safe pace and guess what? My best result so far. 2nd place. :)

Well what a dramatic race 3:00gmt time started p8 had a good start got me into p6 by first corner at lime rock park. Going through the corner I see a car spinning and one upside down. This got me into p4, going through the mini straight up to turn 2 the top 4all wreck which gave me p1. Now I thought great easy win ill take it. But it turned out to be the best 1vs1 race ever. Me and another driver both crossed the line 8tenths apart both leading 10laps and no contact what a race :)

I know what you mean encyclopaedia. I get nervy and edgy when running high. Got to the lead in a c class truck race and my line just went downhill.

Raced with the Aussies early Sunday morning. Had a 9th and 4th place finish in the V8 Supercar. I was placed in the top split of both races. Thought I held my own quite nicely. Had made a decent setup derived from the baseline, but my tires would start giving up about mid race.

Gotta say, racing with the Aussies was probably the most fun I've had yet. Very hard, fast, and clean racing for the most part. Plus, I'm really starting to dig racing the V8. I don't believe this car will ever get boring to drive. Once you start to understand the balance of the car, its a blast to drive.

I really want to learn the V8. Unfortunately I just can't drive cars like that, through m own shortcomings as a driver.

Well I have just started driving it in a league. What I have found you have to remember when driving the V8 Supercar is that in some corners it pays to let the car slide, although you do then have to be on your guard through the next couple of turns due to the tyre overheating. It also pays to have a high tyre pressure so that when you do let the car slide it doesn't wear the tyres too much making you a sitting target at the end of the race.

What I have also come to realise is that if you have problems on certain tracks/corners chances are other drivers will also have problems there, or problems just as bad at some other point on the track.

The same can't be said with the FW31 however, with those aliens running lap after lap after lap after lap of consistency. (Not trying to say the V8 Supercar is easy to drive, but chances are you'll have 1 or more unexpected mistakes during a race even from the aliens.

Ah I can't believe it! I was running 3rd with no incidents and I messed it up on the second to last lap. Ended up 6th. 🤬

first late model oval race (phoenix), started 13th, on lap 2 two guys crashed inches in front of me and I made it to 6th on lap 2. I then got passed then passed another guy for 6th and that guy did the ol' bump and run and got me half on the apron sideways in front of him and three more guys. I saved it, dropped into 2nd gear and went on my merry way. I was .8 seconds behind him at the end of the race, finished 10th, last car on lead lap gained .05 SR... not a bad race but could have been better :indiff:

Just won the V8 Supercars Series for the 6th time! Bloody over the moon to say the least, still settling in a bit... Nail biting last race with Justin Ruggier as we both struggled to make it home on fuel.

Congrats Mad! That's quite an accomplishment to say the least. I doubt anyone else has won that many championships in any series. You have no interest in getting in the DWC?

Pushed again at the end of the race. Same place as last time. Last corner @ Laguna Seca.

I'm starting to get tired of this. How hard is it to back off just a little bit?

Great news Madison, I was watching a couple of your races throughout the season and they were pretty insane. You really deserved it again, and especially as there was some super close racing all season.

How the hell did you get a 2:07.xxx in Suzuka that is beyond me? That lap must have been insane. Do you have a replay of it?

I could only manage to do a high 2:10 to low 2:11, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't do it in the league I was part of.

Thanks everyone!

Not really no... Not really any point, all of our team and sponsors are all based around the V8 series. There is literally no interest in the F1 series from most Australians. Makes it hard going for a Pro licence, it means I have to wake up at 3:15am on a Monday morning to do the A class SOF race. I did do that in the past for a few weeks but gave up fairly early on, it's just too early week in week out and I don't have the commitment to go for it. Why bother when the monday night V8 series is competitive, at a great time for aussies and broadcasted exceptionally well?

Haha was a super clean lap, really was no major errors so I was pretty pleased with it! I have got the replay, not on youtube but i'll upload it overnight. If you want the actual replay file I can also give you that.

Well whatever is easiest for you mate, I'll be happy to see either. :)

WOW what a fun race, with 7 to go I spun from 3rd and one quy took 3rd and I caught him and we diced back and forth for the last 3 laps and I was right on his a** just unable to pass him on the last lap, but that was so much fun I don't care 4th was pretty dang awesome. another guy though... he blew us all out of the water! and calmly shared his setup and just said it was a handful. What a great group of guys in the NW!
It was a 30 min race Caddy, mustang, and kia @ Laguna Seca

I just love being wrecked on lap 3 by some idiot diving it in even though he wasn't along side me, like it's the last lap.

Losing irating :(

Tried two Lotus Grand Prix races today. Wrecked on lap 9 in the first with 3 incs. and got .05 SRgain.

In the seond made it to the end and got 10 incs. and a .21 SR gain.

1st race in the Kia.
Gridded in the 5rd row, 2 Caddies 3 rows behind me, 3 in the 1st 2 ahead.
On green, the Caddies in the rear split the rows, and came up the middle.
I moved to the right, and let them by. Two turns later, 3 of them were in the grass, another turn and the other 2 were spinning. I went of track and took over the lead. Caddies soon caught me and passed.
The 2nd place Kia caught and passed me, and I just paced him.
With about 8 laps to go, my spotter tells me I have 5 laps left of fuel :ouch:
and 3rd place is catching us fast. Did what I could, but had to pit with 2 laps left, just as the driver I was pacing with crashed. Finished 4th .
I really like the Kia, just have to learn how to drive it better.

I watched the replay and 🤬 brazil people and I don't get along! I'm always getting tangled with brazil :nervous: why? WHY ME?

Just had a super intense race in the SRF at Spa. Started 9th, picked my way through a few spins and passed a couple cars going into the bus-stop to take the lead! 9th to 1st in 1 lap! It ended up being a 4 car fight for the lead, I led 6 laps, but not the final 2 unfortunatly. We had a drag to the line off of La source, and I lost by 0.069. Disapointing, but the most fun I've had on iRacing in a LONG time.

Just raced in the GLOBAL Challenge and it went better than I expected. The Cad is a big step up from the MX5 so I was wondering what I had goteen myself into. I managed 3rd place, the only incident being me failing to react in time to a car that spun out infront of me on the first lap. Got a 4x for that. :grumpy:
