Had first race in the Skip Barber @ Summit Point.

Started from Pit @ p14, finished p7. Didn't get much practice time, maybe 20 minutes in the car. Enough to realize I wasn't that familiar with cars w/o ABS.

Only 4 incidents. My practices before weren't that lucky.

I think i'm hooked on this car for a bit though. Seemed like good fun.

Skippy is much better since update.

Just had my first race, at Summit Point Raceway in my MX-5, wow wee what an experience.. Qualified 4th (mind you only 4 people qualified) Haha, and second turn spun out and caused a huge crash amongst most players..

Recovered from that and ended up coming 9th out of 10 racers. Can say I'm fairly pleased with that effort, about to start my second race/qualifying session.

👍

👍

I usually start from pits on the Rookie MX-5 races. Usually by the time I catch up, maybe a little mayhem has already happened.

I didn't know you can start from the pits? How do you do that? I think I'd just prefer starting on the grid, it keeps the fun in it for me I guess..

When it gives you the grid countdown let it run out. Then it says "missed start" click that and you'll start from pit.

I swear last race I felt like I was a wrecking ball but I hate actually getting into people at all nor do I race like that.

First "wreck" I was letting someone go by under caution and got rear ended by last place who wasn't paying attention. Actually had like very little damage so no biggie.

Well I finally start moving my way through the field til we get to a guy who is falling back through the field (slower on older tires) and he keeps running wide but it forces me to no run full speed because I know it will force us 3 wide. Well finally I think he is letting me by, til he is right infront of me so I tap him as I'm checking up which wrecks him and another car.

Hopefully that was it, nope while racing around 5th, we were all racing pretty hard but some how got door slammed and got another 4x from it. Kept going but few corners later while trying to pass I got super loose and ate the inside wall which pretty much was end of my race outside running just to keep up my rating.

Never have I felt like I was in almost every wreck or got banged off every car like a ping pong ball.

Just tried racing Darlington and she kicked my 🤬 pretty good :(. Didn't even make it half way before I killed my engine against the wall.

A fixed at Watkins Glen. 👍👍👍

I don't care where I place , just cutting 27 laps is a blast. I can't get enough ! :D

Had my first podium finish last night. Started in 5th position, and due to (we'll keep it simple, dumb people.) I was pushed back into 7th place, only to hold on for the 10 laps and push my way up to 3rd. Can't wait to get back on the track.

Anyone from Australia on here play iRacing?

I made a complete idiot out of myself in the legend tonight twice.
first race I was first person on the grid without a qualifying time and hit some guy on lap one as he spun and came right back up into the groove and made up some time after that finishing 9/12 and -.01 SR.
Race 2 I spun off T2 (started 4th of 9 - w/ qualifying) and third spun entering 3 at the same time (Same guy who spun in race 1) and I got nicked and he bounced off the wall, two separate wrecks simultaneously. I passed him in the pits and he left right behind me, we battled and he passed me. The leaders passed me then battled so I hung with them remaining right behind them separating me and my opponent by 5 seconds.
He spun again and I smashed the inside wall avoiding him and lost .09SR.:indiff:

Ran the Global Challenge last night in the Kia.
There were on two of us, the rest Caddies.
As usual, before the end of lap one, it's a crash fest.
I laid back and sure as hell, a Caddie spins, taking out the Kia leader in the bus stop. I make it through watching him flip in my mirrors.
So I know as look as I run as clean race, there's no way he's going to catch me.
On lap 10 between T10 and 11, the 2nd place Caddie is coming through T10.
I tell him to pass on the outside, as I'm holding my line all the way to the right.
Just before 11, he slams into the back of me, costing me 2X and the race as I had to pit for repairs.
He says on the forum that he did not hear me tell him that, yet another in the race said he heard me say to pass outside several times.
Anyone think it's protestable ?

You could protest it, and if you feel like it you should.

All other things being equal, it'll probably get written off as a racing incident this time because there's no real way they can tell that he did hear you. However, if he has a history of doing this sort of stuff then he'll get nailed, and if he does it again in future he may be in hot water too.

I'm waiting to hear what he has to reply, which will influence my decision.
Problem is, he did not even attempt to slow down or change his line.

Trucks at Bristol, was leading, battling with the #1 Truck who was obviously faster than me, but it's so hard to pass at Bristol. All of a sudden got hit coming out of 4 and spun around and got collected by the 3rd place Truck. 5 minutes Optional repairs, 5 laps down, race over.

Looked at the replay, and the 2nd place Truck was at least a full foot off me. He didn't come close to touching me. Worst Netcode ever, and it cost me a 4x and a potential win.

Can I complain to iRacing about this, or is it pointless?

Pointless, what are iRacing meant to do when it is the racers to blame for having a high and/or inconsistent ping and/or quality.

Yep. Netcode is just one of those things. I just look at it as spontaneous mechanical failure. There's nothing really you could have done, you just lose. :(

Curse a little bit, kick the cat, have a beer and move on to the next one.

One foot is annoying but I've been spun by a car 3 feet away before. That happens when 2 Aussies race on a US server. :/

Lesson learned , I'm very wary of it these days but it makes oval racing very difficult.

We both had a Ping of 66. The problem was not on either of our ends.

LOL one foot.. You do know you play over internet? 1 foot = 33cm or so right.. that's actually 1ms of ping doing 100KM/H (about 60mph). If you increase speed you will decrease the time.. 200km/h (120mph) is 0,5ms.

Just for your information. So that crash could happen if the iracing server was located in the same room as you are and the guy you crashed with also was there. It's as good as it is or as bad as it is.. But it's the best we got right? or I guess people would run away??
After all it doesn't happen all the time so I guess the netcode is pretty good at assuming where you are..

The worst bottleneck will always be the clients. You have clients with wireless 3g internet playing on iRacing.. The fact that they are allowed to connect is not understandable to me. But I guess the answer always is to blame the netcode.. keep on doing it. I will continue to laugh of it!

EDIT
And take a look at the link in my signature.. low ping isn't everything.. But you can do something to improve your pleasure racing. Oh and not just look, do something too ;)

You need to stop assuming things. My netspeed is already set to 256k or faster, thank you very much. I run Windows Firewall and MS Security Essentials already. The problem was not on my end.

I was leading a race and got wrecked when the car behind me wasn't anywhere near me, and I get attacked and "blamed" by 2 different people for asking a legitimate question about whether bringing it up to iracing was worth it. Thank you, Imari for actually answering that.

I can't race oval this season due to my Internet and the majority of oval races on US servers. Whereas road is more often then not on European servers.

I'm not going to go on, but read my post again and you assume I assume things about your settings. Witch I added later (read the EDIT) just to be somewhat helpful. Sorry for even mentioning that. My bad trying to be helpful

But what I do assume is that you do expect to much out of driving a simulator online. If you expect the netcode to handle 40+ cars and predict where everyone are when all of the clients have different ping and some might even have packet loss. Is expecting to much, and saying it is the worst netcode ever would in my mind mean you know of something better. And that doesn't really exist.

So NO you complaining to iRacing about it isn't even worth the time asking for it on a forum.

I no longer care because I just got my first Truck win. :)

Btw, I understand you were trying to be helpful, but to me, you came off as being condescending, and talking down to me. I was already frustrated at the situation and the tone I got in those replies didn't help. But I'm over it now.

First Mustang win, only an 8 car field but ill take it. Havent had much to cheer about this year because of inactivity due to life. I was on pole and the guy next to me jumped the start and brought the guy behind him with him. So i was in 3rd entering the first turn. But it looks like the guy who jumped got penalized because he pulled into the pits when we came around, then i took back 1st on the next lap and was never threatened.
