Sounds good sir. :) I don't know why iRacing does that, it always cuts off the beginning of some of the longer race replays I save..

That GTC race was beyond ridiculous, I started in 25th and finished 6th.. I literally stopped to avoid cars going every which direction. I think me and the other Solstice were the only people out back who got through intact.. messy messy race. I won the Solstice class and it's awesome to win it on my home track :). How can I go back to the very beginning while viewing the replay? I can only get back to lap 4..

You were the one who told me, that you have to qualify in GTC. Now, please, follow your own advice!

But, I don't know about the replay thing. Try holding rewind, rather than skipping between laps.

Mac, I think you need to find the 'enable spooling' option. Turn it on and your whole race will be saved.

I think it's in the replay area in the sim.

Good luck!

I'll send it tonight 👍

And it's good advice 👍
I had the choice of running the Nvidia race or the mosport quali right before the race and I opted for the race. Poor choice really, as there will always be races at Lime Rock.
All I could think when I saw the grid list was 'what are the odds that the 16 cars in front of me will make it through turn 1 and 2? I should really start from the pits.'
Sometimes I really need to listen to the rational me. :ouch:

Jumped into the Grand Touring race (also at Mosport :D) and the field was over 25 :D:D.
Just after turn 1, lap 1 - I couldn't see the track there were so many cars spinning and bouncing around, naturally I hit someone. Tried to drive back to the pit, but the Jetta in front of me blew his engine so it was really tough. Left the pits and the car couldn't turn right properly - I wasn't even given the option to repair the car in the first pit... What am I missing here??
After a couple of difficult laps I eventually made it back to the pits and nothing was fixed. As soon as I left my stall I was told to pit because I had too much damage. Left the room, re-entered and tried to leave the pit again, only to hear the same message. I couldn't drive more than 10 feet without going squirly so I called for a tow and just left the stupid car in the pits.
I wonder how I did

Hopefully it worked out better for Mac and Jon 👍
What a frustrating night of (not really) racing :(

I was in the same race, though I started near the front of the grid and the chaos that followed the start happened just behind me. I even spun at the hairpin on the first lap and only lost 1 position(down to 6th). Had minor contact with a car a few laps later after touching the grass but luckily both cars were fine.
The rest of the race went fairly smoothly, with cars ahead of me getting into trouble I finished in 2nd place.

I imagine you could have stopped for take out on lap 1 and not been in danger of being passed
I think if I had started from the pits I would have been in the top 10 after turn 2 :D

Guys, as someone from the vicinity of Mosport, who's been all around Mosport a few times, PLEASE, pay attention to turns 3-5. They will kill anyone who's not paying attention. A friend of mine has shown me videos of the sorts of skids you can get yourself into at Turn 5, if you don't brake soon enough, and mind your throttle.

Attack through consistency, Mosport's not the sort of track for 11/10ths driving.

How about Turn 2? More people go off there and at Moss (Turn 5) more than anywhere else, both in the sim and real life.

Yeah. But, Turn 2 and 4 are both uphill cresting apexes. Therefore, the car's traction patch is reduced even more than normal, meaning that the whole section is basically a car with no steering feel, grip, and very little amounts of feedback. The car won't respond normally. Most times, you barely even feel the steering feedback at all, until the weight lands back on the tires.

So, yes, it's really hard. They did something exactly the same on the kart track; turn 1 of the "short bowl layout" as I call it has a rather large bump at the apex. One of the girls I was racing against said "Turn 1's flat out."

So, I tried it. The steering went numb as I apexed, I got a tiny bit of air (wasn't expecting it,) and flew off of the track. Only got a rolled black flag, but, I almost spun! :scared:

So, I went, afterwards, and asked "You said I could make it through Turn 1 flat-out?"

"No, I meant Turn 1 of Section 2." Darn girls. The look she gave me, though, firmly makes me believe that girls like brave men. 💡

Point of anecdote: Mosport's not going to reward those of us who push beyond our limits. I knew that flat-out was too fast, but I tried it - and failed.

I just want to take a moment to say Thank You to iRacing for making a sim where this is true, that is the attention to detail that is astonishing to a guy who's first computer was a C-64 and an Amiga 128. :)

Aint technology an amazing thing? Thanks iRacing for giving us the realism that had to be a first class bitch to write and develop.

Yeah. The first time I drove the Jetta, it was astonishingly close to my old Hyundai Accent "race car" which was an autocross machine. The all-season tires meant that I was last a lot, but, I had fun.

I mean, coming from Canada, and having been to Mosport, and driven the iRacing version of Mosport, the track's resemblance or w/e word you want to use is uncanny. I'll admit, iRacing is incredible.

Just had a really fun race in the GTC which is at Sliverstone this week. I was in the McLaren (what else!). I had about 20 laps of practice before hand and I picked up the braking points, turn ins etc quite quick. Didn't bother with Q because I find it fun trying to work your way through the field. Started dead last in field of 25 and being in top split I thought it was going to be a long lonely race at back. However I just kept plugging away trying to overtake safely and keep out of any danger. I benefited from my consistent driving and benefited from others mistakes and ended up finishing 9th overall and 4th in class. I'm really chuffed with it.:)

My word, I got lucky and grabbed a win in the SKB at Laguna Seca last night.
This track has been nothing but trouble for me this season. I usually end up crashing out and finishing last in previous runs! LOL

One of the pilots in an earlier race was nice and shared a stable setup with everyone and it worked very well.

I started in 12th position and in T1 on Lap 1 there was a big wreck that I avoided out of pure luck that that took out 6 cars and bumped me up to 5th position by T2. crazy.

The 5 of us remaining pilots seem to have a similar pace. I managed to get into 1st place by Lap 11 as over the course intervening laps the 4 cars in front of me spun out. The closest pilot was 10s behind on the last 5 laps so I "tiptoed" around the track to avoid crashing out and took the checkered flag.
:gtpflag:

Turn 2 and 4 are downhill.. But okay 👍

Whew!! Just finished a GT-C race on the Vette at Silverstone and WOW!!! Never had such a hard fought race on iRacing!! Those boys really play HARD! I started last on the second split as I didn't qualify and was #13, so 9th on the grid it was.
As soon as the pace car dove in for the pits the pole sitter gunned it, I was expecting go on green so I had a poor start. No biggie, as soon as the cars got on the front straight 3 guys in front tangled up and out of the race, I had to take evasive action as the car in front panicked and stepped on the brakes in the front staright, unfourtunately I clipped his left rear corner and picked him up and arround. On the other side of the mess I came out in 5th but had a damaged front bumper wich meant aero damage for the entire race and down on speed on the long straights of Silverstone.

23 minutes in and we are still 2nd trough 5th within .5sec of each other! First McLaren appears in the distance and there's no time to waste so all get past with no drama. 20 minutes to go and things start to heat up as we are now lapping serious traffic! We are all now 4 cars trough the last corner plus 2 McLarens, I take it to the outside and have to take the grass, one of the Vettes finds a good hole and get's past and makes 3 possitions...Almost! He now gets greedy and wants to track out but gets into a McLaren causing a big wreck that took him, another Vette and a McLaren out!
Wreck_zps5c2b718c.png

Now it's just me and another Vette chasing down the Leader who is now 10 seconds clear in front of us. 3 laps later and I get him! I'm now in second and start to work the gap between mye and him. As I look at F3 I see the leader 7 seconds in front...WHAT!! Now is time to push it and go for broke!
10 minutes remain and I close down that gap 2 seconds per lap till I'm right there on his back bumper, not much of a fight as he got damaged from hiting a curb wrong. So now I'm in front and coming arround to take the white flag with the other Vette having moved into 2nd now and 2.5 behind. No time to take it easy but no need to put in the fastest lap, so I put in a solid tight lap and bring it home to take the win!
Woohoo!! Cool down lap and I'm sweating like a pig!! Feels so damn sweet to take such a hard fought win!! I come arround to the front straight, timer is now reset... Doughnut time!!!

Nice one Jav! Makes me wish I had bought Silverstone to run this week.

I just had an awesome race in the Mustang at Summit Point. I started P11 in the top split, and had a great battle with 2 guys from start to finish. We traded positions back and forth, and I ended up finishing 5th, my best result in the top split. It's taken me all season, but I'm finally getting the hang of the mustang. However, one of the resident Iracing aliens had a Q time of 1:20.0xx, and my best is 1:21.2xx, so I have a lot of work to do.

Thank you sir!
Summit point is such an underrated track in iRacing! I love it on the smaller and low powered cars! Only track I've ever won a Mustang race!
Good stuff Aarror!

I'm thinking of doing the 10:15 Mustang race tonight; I haven't turned a lap in that car in months so it should be fun to relearn it; plus that car is mega fun at Summit Point.

Anyone else care to join?
