Just another useless thread. What was your very first post or thread at GT Planet, and what brought you here?

I was a GT2 fanatic basically, and was searching different websites for a good bulletin board. I went to GTN, GTX, and remember finding RacingLine.org, but most of the boards were inactive till i came to GT Planet 👍 And at the time i was apparently racing a full-body '96 Corvette and experiencing understeer. :( Which brought me here. :)

Hey, wazzuppp, I am new here and still exploring GT2 even though it's like a million years old now (well, I only got the game in March) and my question is about the '96 Corvette..and why the damn thing loves to understeer. Sometimes, it almost seems like you're going in slow-motion and it's still plowing towards the walls. I'm using super-soft tires up front, as well as in the rear (although I've tried using soft and mediums back there).

...as we can see, Pupik was very awesome as my first "greet". Didn't make fun of my question or anything like "hey Newb!! use the search!"

I feel all the 'Vettes have a tendency to understeer with their stock suspensions. However, I created a great setup (purely by luck) for the '96 Grand Sport with a full-race suspension, full LSD, and race mod.

But if you race them stock (normal), they are fairly difficult to drive

I jus finished racing the DTM 7 times for cash and was wondering... Which car should I buy thats $3.5-$4.5? I've been looking over the Peugeot 905 because of its lightweight. Also I've been thinking of getting a Pescarolo. (They have similar stock HP when I was racing the computer in arcade mode.) The Mazda 787B is good too, I just hope it sounds the same as it did in GT3. Please help...

I apperently was too lazy to type "you" and "through." I realized that I recently posted a huge explaination as to why you get sucked through the track and whatnot too. I miss those days though.

Huh, i didn't know you had a first "post"..i always assumed your awesome "Evidence of hidden things in gT2" was your first.

I'm not a pro or anything, but I just recently used a hex editor to find some things I have found mysterious about GT2.

I searched for palm strip and here are my findings:
at 00468ab9 it says Palm Strip in a whole slew of what appears to be french.
at 0046d271 it says Palm Strip in a group of german words.
the next two are about the same idea.

There are no instances of "drag strip".
No instances of "Eigen Loop"
No instances of "CLK-GTR"

More findings shortly...

I do believe it was over 4 years ago, in the GT3 section, asking about saved files or something. I didn't post much at all until several months after that. I became a regular poster since then, leaving GTP during the summers when I live elsewhere.

I drove all over town looking for GT4, and there isnt a single store in Grand Rapids that had it, even in the back room. They guys at Best Buy said tomorow, the 23rd, at best, and Circuit City didnt have a clue....

Apparently I was upset over GT4 not being released on time. My spelling wasn't too good either. Ah, how I miss High School (that was my Senior Year)...

Yeah, aint that the truth? Reading old posts brings back all kinda memories for me. :) All the stuff i was doing at the time (not mentioned in my thread) comes back. 💡
 
I can't find mine, but i registered on June 8th 2001 under the name Mustang-man (or Mustang_man - something like that).

Back then we were on an IkonBoard from memory. :eek:

And here's mine... Now that I look back at it, it's kind of ironic how my first post here became so notorious around the whole internet. I saw that list popping up in no less than five different websites as the 'original list'.
 
Heres a newbie question for you: How do you get to your first post? - when i check all the posts i've made in my profile section i can only get to the last 4 pages???
 
Go to 'Advanced Search' and enter your own name in the 'Search By User Name' box...

In the 'Search Options' box below (left), the third option is 'Sort Results By' and change from 'in Descending Order' to 'in Ascending Order'

Also, below that, where it says 'Show Results As...', select 'Posts' instead of 'Threads' 👍

Well, some of them seem like different classes, don't they? I'd pair the Golf GTI, considering it's size, with the Peugeot 307 rather than with the 206. They just don't seem to be close enough (considering size, power, edition). And, if already, why a Vitz Turbo and Golf GTI, but no 206 in it's sportier version?

I thought I'd try this after Mr P sent me his first replay for checking (100% clean :shades: )

tried with ASM & TCS off, and got a best of 1:47.178. I then tried with TCS on and only got 1:47.238 :confused:

here's the 47.178 if anybody is interested :p

My first thread was more of a rant on how PD couldn't make BMWs worth buying until GT4 came out.

Heh, my first (and only) locked thread. Perhaps I made a difference when it was all said and done.
