Z06 motor NOT covered by warranty, if..

Road car warranty. Off-road usage. A race-track is usually defined as "off-road". I'm not entirely familiar with the Corvette warranty, but almost all road-car warranties exclude "off-road" usage. Even 4x4 vehicles, actually.

I imagine Corvette motor may be very costly? Perhaps not, since it is American, which may entail suprisingly low price, as sometimes is the case.

Last I checked you could get LS7 (C6 Z06 engine) new from the factory for mid $12k (USD).

Is that a lot? The only people from which I've heard comments upon engine prices are simply not to be trusted, so I really have no sense of proportion here.
