Forza Horizon 6 to Launch on PlayStation 5 January 26, First Expansion Coming Too

PlayStation’s social media channels have confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will be joining its predecessor game as the only Forza titles ever to appear on Sony’s platform when it launches on January 26, 2027.

It’s a little later than expected, with developer Playground Games initially stating that PlayStation gamers would get their hands on FH6 some time during 2026. However there were rumors swirling from well-known insiders that this had slipped — even if by a matter of less than four weeks — to 2027.

That’s now been confirmed, first by PlayStation and subsequently by Playground Games, with the official launch now scheduled for early next year.

As with the Xbox console version, the PlayStation version — again ported by Panic Button, as with FH5 — will come in three different editions, and in digital and physical form. They’re priced the same as the Xbox version, and tote the same benefits:

Forza Horizon 6 game edition benefits for Xbox consoles

Forza Horizon 6 Standard Edition – $/€69.99 (£59.99)

As you’d expect, this one comes with the basic game and nothing else, unless you pre-order it in which case you’ll receive the Ferrari J50 as a bonus. That applies to all pre-orders.

Forza Horizon 6 Deluxe Edition – $/€99.99 (£89.99)

It’s a bit of a jump up to the Deluxe Edition, although this does add 35 cars to the mix — and unlike for Xbox players buying at launch, these should all arrive at once.

That’s because 30 of them are part of the Car Pass, a weekly car drop that introduces one new car every seven days. We don’t actually know the identities of them all yet, as the list still has some way to go, but Car Pass owners get a free example of each car and can purchase further ones for in-game credits via the Autoshow.

This edition also includes the Welcome Pack which adds five pre-tuned cars based on the BMW M4, Ferrari FXX-K Evo, Ford F-150 Raptor R, Mercedes-AMG GT Black, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII. It also comes with vouchers for any one Autoshow car for free and and three Common/Rare rank clothing items for free.

Forza Horizon 6 Deluxe Edition – $/€119.99 (£109.99)

Finally the Deluxe Edition offers five days’ early access and 12 more cars via two car packs — “Italian Passion” and “Time Attack” — as well as VIP membership that includes a little crown flair for your profile and double credit awards across the game.

It also includes the first two DLC expansions for free. These are typically large new game areas focused around certain themes or activities, with new cars, events, and features unique to the location. Up until now, there’d not been much noise on that front…

Today’s announcement though also comes with confirmation that the first DLC Expansion for Forza Horizon 6 will be arriving at the same time as the first PlayStation players get access — courtesy of the early access bonus in the Premium Edition — on Thursday January 21.

It’s not clear yet what the expansion theme will be, but there’s a hint in the clip that it may be another island location. FH2, FH4, and FH5 all featured islands as their first expansions — Storm, Fortune, and Hot Wheels respectively — so it would certainly fit tradition.

Playground Games has subsequently confirmed that a separate free content update will accompany the first expansion, available to all players. This is also notable due to being outside the usual four-week cycle for the title, with Series 10 beginning the following Thursday.

The PlayStation 5 version of the title will also support full cross-platform compatibility with Xbox and Steam versions, allowing for cross-play and cross-save. All user-generated content is also cross-platform, so PS5 players will have instant access to seven months’ worth of EventLab and Estate creations.

Additionally, the trailer reveals the expected 4K30 Quality and 60fps (at unknown resolution) Performance mode for the PlayStation 5 version, as with FH5. We don’t yet know what advantages the PlayStation 5 Pro may bring, but we’re expecting something similar to the previous title here too.
