The Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races selection has updated for another week, as the core ranked online multiplayer mode continues its regular cadence.
This week’s selection has a feel of the familiar about it, as we see an effective one-make race for road cars in the first slot, a Gr.4 sprint race in the second, and a longer race with strategic elements for the Gr.3 cars in the final spot.
Following on from the announcement that the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup won’t be returning in 2025, you’ll be doing a Race A that looks like a pared-back version of a race from the championship. It features the Toyota GR86 RZ and its platform sibling the Subaru BRZ S in a five-lap dash.
We say “dash”, but it’s quite a lengthy race for a Race A. Autopolis will host the race, at the full course, and it’s staged over five laps. In relatively leisurely road cars, that’ll take up more time than is usual for this event — even on the required Sports Soft tires.
As usual, Driver Rating (DR) updates are turned off for this event, though Sportsmanship Rating (SR) updates remain active. There’s also a standard Grid Start, so no need to deal with the False Start system.
Race B takes little description as usual. You can select any Gr.4 car you like — the Nissan GT-R seems popular this week — for a seven-lap blast around the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta course.
You’ll need Racing Hard tires for the event, which are fitted as standard to all Gr.4 cars and will be equipped on any car you rent for the race, but otherwise there’s nothing of particular note to help you get a leg up on others.
The Gr.3 cars return in the Race C slot, for a 14-lap race around Deep Forest Raceway. Again, you can choose any car from the category here, although it’s looking like the mid-engined cars (and the fictional RCZ in particular) are the common choice this week.
There are mandatory tire requirements this week, as you’ll need to use both the Racing Medium and Racing Hard tires for at least a lap apiece. That’s going to necessitate a trip down the pit lane — watch out for the tricky entry and exit, which can cost you a three-second, on-track penalty for crossing the lines — anywhere between the end of lap one and the start of lap 14 to switch over.
A relatively high 7x tire wear multiplier is in effect, so you’ll need to coax the Medium grade as long as possible without running it so far that it’s less effective than new Hards. Make sure you make the swap too, or you’ll end up with a one-minute penalty applied to your race time at the end.
Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game’s flagship esports series each season.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, April 21.
