Following on from the latest game update this morning, a new Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial is now available featuring some of the latest content that 1.60 brings.
As we’re approaching a year between the addition of new race circuits, that can only mean it’s a new car and it’s the one that’s probably the highlight of the update: the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car.
This exact car is the one driven by Didier Auriol to victory in the 1992 Tour de Corse, his fourth of a record-equalling six wins on the asphalt rally, on the way to the team’s unmatched sixth successive manufacturers’ titles in the WRC — though Auriol would finish third at the end of the season, behind team-mate Juha Kankkunen and champion Carlos Sainz.
Appropriately then the time trial takes place on a twisty, asphalt-surfaced race track in the shape of the Grand Valley South short course. This was formerly the Grand Valley East course in previous GT games, but the reimagined and reoriented Grand Valley has resulted in a new name and a new and more significantly altered layout.
You’ll need Racing Medium tires on the Delta for this event, where the current record has just broken under the 1:11 mark this morning. That sets the gold cutoff at close to 1:13 flat, but of course this is a dynamic target which may — and should — fall in the next two weeks. We’d estimate a mid-1:12 will be necessary, but we’ll re-assess this next week.

The much longer and slower Time Trial for the Suzuki Swift Sport at the Nordschleife is also still running, and the times have dropped a good distance since last week.
At present the record is almost a flat 8:17, so you’ll need to at least break into the 8:31s now if you want the gold. It’s tough to say how much time there is left to come, but the record is over a second ahead of the fourth-best time and while there’s plenty of corners to gain (or lose) time the Swift is a pretty predictable car so it’s not likely to be much.
There’s still a third active event, and it’ll be in place for another two weeks (and a bit) yet. That’s the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Virtual Championship qualifier, which you can use as a regular time trial if you just want the prize money and are not interested in the esports aspect.
Compared to last week there’s been no movement at all in the record, despite the incentive to qualify for the event, so the gold target at Monza in the Gr.3 Mercedes remains a 1:49.537. We suspect that means there’s not an awful lot of time remaining if the 2021 World Champion can’t find more.
In order to access the Online Time Trials, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. As it’s just you against the clock and not a direct, head-to-head multiplayer event, PlayStation Plus is not required.
You’ll usually need to be within 3% of the fastest time globally once the event finishes in order to secure “gold” status and a 2m credit bonus prize. There’s smaller prizes of one million for being within 5%, and 250,000cr for bronze at 10% off.
The events update every Thursday, with each individual challenge usually remaining available for two weeks and the oldest of the two events being replaced each week. You can look forward to the next new Time Trial arriving at 0700 UTC on Thursday July 3.
