One of the maddest Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial events we’ve ever seen is ready for players worldwide, and you’ve got two weeks to set the fastest time you can over a 19-second lap.
No, that isn’t a typo. The new event is literally 19 seconds long, or at least it is if you want to get into the gold bracket and score two million credits — easily the fastest-paying event in the history of GT7.
You’ll be sprinting around the tiny half-mile oval at Northern Isle Speedway, a circuit very much inspired by the real-world Bristol Motor Speedway, in an event competing to be the least complex on Time Trial record. Daytona was one corner longer after all, but didn’t require any lifting…
Of course you’ll be in a wholly suitable car for this event, in the shape of a 707hp Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. On Comfort Medium tires. Keeping this thing from sliding into the walls will be your sole mission, and there’s going to be a lot of red laps for a lot of people.
The global record is an 18:658s lap, but unlike some of the previous simple events the gold bracket remains at the usual 3% rather than being dropped to 1%. Your current target then is a 19.217s lap, and we’re not expecting much to come off that; aim for a flat-19.1 or better though.

If you fancy something a little more complicated, there’s one week remaining on the Super Formula time trial event at Suzuka. You can use either of the two 2023 cars for this one, but be aware that there’s no use of the overtake button in these hot lap events.
Despite being several days old now, the current world record is the same as it was almost right at the beginning: a 1:34.471. That sets your gold target at 1:37.305 right now, but this event is a carbon copy of one from back in March and there’s still time left compared to way back then. We’d still say a 1:37.0 should be your goal for this one.
In order to access the Online Time Trials, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. As it’s just you against the clock and not a direct, head-to-head multiplayer event, PlayStation Plus is not required.
You’ll usually need to be within 3% of the fastest time globally once the event finishes in order to secure “gold” status and a 2m credit bonus prize. There’s smaller prizes of one million for being within 5%, and 250,000cr for bronze at 10% off.
The events update every Thursday, with each individual challenge usually remaining available for two weeks and the oldest of the two events being replaced each week. You can look forward to the next new Time Trial arriving at 0700 UTC on Thursday November 27.
