Gran Turismo 7’s latest online time trial event is now available, with a enticing combination that could come from just about any modern racing title.
The event involves one of the newest cars in the game, and certainly its newest GT3 car, in the shape of the Porsche 911 GT3 R added in the recent 1.67 update. It’s pretty quickly become a bit of a favorite, occupying a good portion of most Gr.3 event leaderboards since its arrival, with the rear-engined model replacing the mid-engined RSR at the 2025 GT World Series champion brand.
There’s no better place to wring out a new GT3 car than Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing this week (and next) in the time trial event, on Racing Medium tires. It’s one for which we’re expecting pretty high participation.
Already the times are getting pretty serious, and it’s none other than 2025’s star driver Jose Serrano — Nations Cup champion and one of the Porsche representatives for the Manufacturers Cup title — setting the current pace.
Right now, that’s a 2:16.395 and while we’re not sure how much time the world champion will be leaving on the table it’s still early on. We’d figure on the eventual record being still in the 2:16s though, so while the gold target is a 2:20.486 right now you might want to look at getting closer to a 2:20.1 if you’re after a bit more security by the time the two weeks are up.

Remarkably, the times in last week’s new event featuring the Mazda RX-Vision at Red Bull Ring haven’t budged. It’s rare that a top time on day one of an event remains the case after a week, but that 1:32.290 is still the world record, so the gold threshold remains at the very bottom of the 1:35s.
We’re still going to recommend not resting on your laurels, particularly as last-minute time sniping happens a little more frequently with road car events (okay, the Mazda is a concept, but still a road car by in-game classification and tires), so aiming to get into the 1:34s — maybe a 1:34.7 or below — should be the goal if you want some safety in the gold bracket.
In order to access the Online Time Trials, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. As it’s just you against the clock and not a direct, head-to-head multiplayer event, PlayStation Plus is not required.
You’ll usually need to be within 3% of the fastest time globally once the event finishes in order to secure “gold” status and a 2m credit bonus prize. There’s smaller prizes of one million for being within 5%, and 250,000cr for bronze at 10% off.
The events update every Thursday, with each individual challenge usually remaining available for two weeks and the oldest of the two events being replaced each week. You can look forward to the next new Time Trial arriving at 0700 UTC on Thursday February 19.
