Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Bertone Excellence

The latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are becoming available to players around the world, starting Friday morning in your local timezone, with some of the new content from today’s 1.60 update featuring in the events.

Weekly Challenges comprise a set of five events, updated at midnight each Friday morning. Four of them are drawn from the existing races within World Circuits, while a fifth “Special Event” is created just for that week. The more you races complete during the week, the bigger the bonus rewards you can obtain in addition to the prizes for completing the races themselves.

One of the newest races in the game starts us off this week, with the two-lap race at — are you ready? — Willow Springs International Raceway: Streets of Willow Springs Reverse, in the Sunday Cup. It’ll take longer to type than race, with the event only requiring road cars and offering 27,000cr for victory.

The newly added Citroen BX — also the thumbnail car for the above race — features in the Special Event. This one’s a four-lap race around Dragon Trail Gardens for the BX only and, while you can tune however you wish, the rival cars appear to be in a standard specification bar some bodykits. Winning should be a breeze, for 40,000cr.

We’ve got a little spike in the prize money next, to 85,000cr for victory at the Tokyo Expressway South Counterclockwise race in the Vision Gran Turismo Trophy. This five-lap affair is exclusive to Vision GT cars, with an 850PP limit on tuning but no other restrictions. We’d say a decent balance of power and grip will win this one.

The first of two six-figure reward events is pretty much the opposite of last week’s Special Event. It comes in the Ferrari Circuit Challenge at Autodrome Lago Maggiore Full, so why not whip out the 812 Superfast you used last week — though limited to 700PP this week — for a comparison of the circuit in both directions? It should coast to the win over the five-lap race, for 105,000cr.

Finally, and as is often the case, we have a World Touring Car race to round things off. This week it’s the WTC800, requiring cars at no higher than 800PP and equipped with Racing tires, and you’re heading to Suzuka for a ten-lap race. High tire wear and fuel consumption might be an issue here, but you’ll also need to prepare for wet weather too if you want to cross the line first for the 168,000cr reward.

This week’s event bonuses are all music to our in-game wallets, as they’re all credit tickets. There’s a 100,000cr ticket for completing any one event, a 200,000cr ticket for finishing any three, and a 500,000cr ticket for checking all five off. Note that these are tickets rather than raw credits, and you’ll need to redeem them from your Garage’s Gifts section.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday July 4.
