iRacing Studios Developing INDYCAR Racing Game, Releasing in 2026 on Consoles and PC

iRacing Studios is on full steam ahead. Last week, the studio announced iRacing Arcade, an “over the top” arcade racer that appeals to all, developed in partnership with Vancouver studio Original Fire Games.

Today, the studio is announcing another venture in the form of a standalone INDYCAR racing title, thanks to a new, long-term licensing agreement between iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations and INDYCAR. As per the agreement, iRacing Studios will be responsible for developing and releasing an INDYCAR title for PlayStation, Xbox and PC and it’s coming in the second half of 2026.

When released, the new game will mark the first time in more than two decades that the open-wheel racing series has had its own dedicated title. Built on the studios’ Orontes engine, the game will feature a “robust and multilevel” career mode, licensed drivers from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone, and multiplayer support.

Tony Gardener, President of iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations had this to say: “INDYCAR fans have long been clamoring for a standalone title for consoles, and we’re excited to give them what they’re looking for in 2026. iRacing Studios’ standalone INDYCAR title will offer all the excitement of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and an immersive experience that fans of all ages can enjoy. We are already very excited about how the game is coming together.”

As per the official announcement, INDYCAR teams and drivers will be “deeply involved” with the game’s development, including Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the development process for iRacing Studios’ new INDYCAR title, it’s an honor to work with a team that has developed such amazing products to help deliver INDYCAR’s first dedicated title in quite some time. It’s already an exciting time to be an INDYCAR fan for so many reasons, and this game will take the fans’ at-home driving experience to the next level!”

This isn’t the first time iRacing and INDYCAR have partnered. The company’s predecessor, Papyrus Racing Games, developed Indianapolis 500: The Simulation in 1989, followed by IndyCar Racing and IndyCar Racing II in 1993 and 1995, respectively.

With the game set to release next year, there’s no doubt more information is on the way. Stay tuned to the GTPlanet!
