Kazunori Yamauchi Competes in 24-Hour Nurburgring Race

As many of you know, the father of the Gran Turismo series is competing in the Nurburgring 24 Hours race, going on right now. He’s driving the #72 Lexus IS-F with teammates Hideshi Matsuda, Owen Mildenhall, and Peter Lyon (learn more about them here). You can monitor their progress live on the race’s official website – they’ve even got streaming video coverage available right here. For audio coverage in English, tune in to Radio Le Mans (thanks for the shout-out on the air , guys!). I’ll update this post when the results are in. Good luck, Yamauchi-san!

@MiataManiac As far as I know it was never captured unless you speak German. It was shown on the web, the entire race and the stream was stable.

I would point you in a direction where I know where a torrent of the race is, but you could be a leech and that’s not tolerated.

Yes, the Hybrid Porsche had an engine failure with 2 hours to go. They were in 1st place at the time, with BMW in 2nd. Bad luck for porsche… good for BMW!

  3. GermanWunderkind

The Manthey Porsche had an engine failure after 47 laps
The hybrid Porsche also had an engine failure after 20 hours
Kaz finished 59th with his team and I think third in his class.

What happened to the Porsche/Mantay everyone asks……

Well, as the event was sponsered by GT, the Porsches had to be removed. ;-)

    Something about contract rights….?

Hehe, look at the video, I posted above. There you can see at the last second, that most of the spectators are animated (clapping hands and that stuff. Looks cute.

okok, I was astounished when i saw that nearly all the top tier cars were gone when i started watching again today at 13h30
I saw the Gummibär out with the hybrid, that´s when i was watching again.
They were damn lucky with the weather this year.

Mantay #1 crashed on course, Porsche/Mantay #9 failed on course with 2 hours to go. Gummi Bear car had transmission issues finished down the order and the other car had shock problems finished down the order, only the #20 H&R car finished in the Top 15.

Yamauchi finished 60th overall, his car has done 127 laps and finished 4th in class with 8 pitstops

Why it is a shame. Do you know an actual game, which handles 200 cars? I think the word “shame” is a big fail ;)

  11. Cherokee

I hpe they put this series in the game too, with night and day change. I like this series more than le mans. Its a shame that the PS can’t handle nearly 200 cars, like it is in real life ;)

The car is not the most beautiful car, for sure. But it is nice to see Kaz on the Nordschleife. And now, I want to see gamplay videos of the new GT5 demo :D

  15. Drogahnus
