Logitech G27 Wheel Now Available

logitech-g27-wheel-face

Logitech’s new steering wheel has finally arrived! They’re in stock right now at Amazon.com for $287.38, plus shipping. Reports in our forums also indicate the G27 is showing up on shelves at Best Buy in the United States. The obvious question, then – should you pick this up? According to the reviews, here’s the simple answer: if you’ve already got a G25, you’ll appreciate the hardware upgrades, but you shouldn’t feel too pressured to pick up a G27. If you’re in the market for your first steering wheel (and don’t mind spending the extra cash over the discounted G25 prices), you’re going to get one of the best wheels on the market.

Ultimately, the Logitech G27 offers significantly refined internal technology, while eliminating some of the classic “pet peeves” that many have with the G25 (while introducing some new ones along the way). I’ll leave further explanation to this review by SimHQ, and this video review by InsideSimRacing

    Hi,
My G27 arrived a couple of weeks ago and generally I am very happy with it. At the moment I am playing GT5 Prologue and Dirt 2. I noticed that I don’t get any collision feedback if the tires aren’t effected. i.e. if I go over a bump and the tire direction isn’t changed then I feel NOTHING! This is the same for both Dirst 2 aqnd GT5P.

A specific example: if I go over the jump at the start of eiger nordwand and land straight then I feel nothing, if I land off-straight and the tire direction is changed then I DO feel feedback.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it even a problem? It would be great if someone could confirm/deny that this is an issue. Other than this the feedback strength is fine (to me) and there are no other issues.

I have been on to Logitech support via email but they have not been much use, they directed me to phone support. I will contact phone support this weekend but just wanted to check if anyone else had this issue.

    ” GT5 in a SLS with it’s 7 gears?”

All AMG’s are auto with paddle shift so I guess you use the paddles.

  3. Stradivis

IMO the lack of sequential shifter is a bummer. Also, can someone tell ME what do you do when playing GT5 in a SLS with it’s 7 gears? Just a thought…
About Jessica, I really hope she has force feedback. Lol

  4. MarcoM

^^ The G27 has better gears in the wheel. This results in less noise. And you can adjust the pedals. But I agree, a G25 would now be your best deal.

    guys buy a g25 !!!

the g27 is IDENTIC . this is a great oportunity to buy a g25 in my country the actualy price is
    250 US$
    low price

    sorry my monkey inglish ahahah

  6. L8 Apex

The G27 sounds good, but I think one of the Fanatecs might be better for me, since they work with PS3, X360, and PC.

As for Jessica: Mmmmm, mmmm good!

  7. Zmann42087

Anybody else notice that she says “we have the predecessor to the G25, that’s right.. the G27.” Umm.. no, Jessica. Perhaps you don’t know what “predecessor” means. Need a hint? Note that it has the prefix “pre-” as in “came before”. The G27 did not come before the G25. Stupid brunette.

The “elite” obsession with these G-series wheels is bizarre. I can only assume that the “must have” crowd either has way too much money to burn or way too narrow of interests. The Driving Force GT is all you need for Gran Turismo. Period. Complaining about materials here and there, and pedal feel just comes off as arrogant. Are these the same people that look out the window of their S65 AMG and see an M5 and feel dirty? OK, I’ll play the game. Who are you sorry suckers clamping your G-27 onto a desk when us L33T ninjas have the full cockpit with motion control! How can you play GT without all that?

  9. Big Ron

it is not fair to sell it as an own and new product, cause the g27 is just a simple and maybe not mentionalble update and the price of 300$ is a cheek

  10. Olly

    @ Nick:

Here in the UK, the G25 is £120/$180. Play.com for example.

The G27 however is close to £330/$500 here.

  11. Nick

Where are you guys finding the G25 for so cheap? The cheapest I’m finding from any online store I’ve heard of is around $220. For an $80 premium, the G27 doesn’t sound too bad..

  12. GTracerRens

I’m sorry, but the lights on the wheel are a bit useless. I always look at the wheel which is shown on the television. I do not watch the lights oon the wheel in my hands… I think you’d better buy a G25 for the sale price. ;)

    @Miura1
He was obviously talking about Jessica ^_^

/ Yeah I’m with you guys, I hope there’s a Holy upgrade of the DFGT when GT5 comes out.
So hopefully it’ll have a clutch and H-pattern gear shift along with sequential – of course with a cheaper price than the G27. =D
So maybe they can make some parts cheap BUT functional, I wouldn’t really mind at all.

  14. missionfailed

02:20 – I wonder if she toes like that in real life. On the accelerator pedal of course!

oh well my DFGT will do me for a while.

  15. ravellron

the g25 is here about nearly 7 years, this new g27 i think will remain the same…. in march there will be no logitech new wheels to buy…

  16. tvensky

Jessica has some boobies :) mmmm…. i don’t know.. i will wait till GT5 arrives then maybe there will be some new wheels on the market and the G25 and G27 will have lower prices.. maybe they at last will have official support from PD’s GT5…

  17. NBH

Saw the g27 listed as £330 in the uk and I can get the g25 for £120. No way is it worth that extra money, I’m hoping to pick up a good deal on a g25 before gt5 comes out.

  18. S3 Racer

    Sweet,
Read the linked article, and it confirms my opinion. Great improvements over g25 but really not enough to justify a buy for g25 owners. If you don’t have a g25 then get a g27!

Hoping Polyphony will implement these superb wheels for GT (completly).

For now I will be further modding my g25 rig. Getting a handbrake lever of a old golf gti and connecting it to my g25 for perfect drifting.

  19. Onitzuka

Just bought the G25 new for 110$, I don’t think the improvemen of the G27 are worth the gap of 178$. So, I’m happy with my chioce!

  20. MarcoM

Call Jessica Lopez dumb, is dumb in itself. She pretty much know how to race the simulator and knows the tracks.

So gorgeous looks and simracing knowledge. Ideal situation.

    Enough off topic.

The best new thing on the G27 are the helical gears. Those will reduce the noise as opposed to the straigth cut gears in the G25. I don’t like the removal of the ability to sequentally shift the lever.

Will I buy it? Maybe if my 2 G25’s break or wear out. But with the quality that good, I doubt that will happen.

  21. CHepe371

yeah but hey since when is eyecandy judged by on wats inside? lol

if they wanted a competent(but boring) co-co-host they would have hired another 40ish nerd dude, at the cost of ratings however, cuz when ur in the video game biz, ur target audience is males from 12 to 40, and what do they ahve in common? a taste for women.

  22. your-father

The success, if there was any, of the dfgt was the price. 300$ is not going to cut it for me.

Does anybody know where I could get a g25 really cheap, preferably a place from which I can order it to North-Western europe (latvia, the baltics)? It’s just that here, the g25, when converted to dollars, costs 300$. You can get it for 250$, if you look, but I am not going to pay THAT much for a wheel.

  23. mike

While watching the video review it’s kind of hard to focus on the subject matter. This girl is awsome! I don’t want the g27. I want her!!!!
