This Week’s Forza Horizon 4 Season Change: Hot Renaults Ring in New Year

Forza Horizon 4 13 January 2, 2020 by

A new year and a new decade have arrived, but the seasons in Forza Horizon 4 do not stop for anyone. Winter is the first season to bring players in to 2020 — just as it should be — with a new wave of content and events around the UK.

The first Playlist update for 2020 features the latest new and returning prizes for 50% and 80% completion. A pair of hot Renault hatchbacks also make their debuts this week.

Read on for our content breakdown.

Renault Turns Up The Heat

Leading the way in to the new year is the 2018 Renault Megane R.S. Despite rather subdued styling, this Megane is a seriously hot hatch.

Sharing an engine with the Alpine A110, Renault Sport has cranked the 1.8-liter turbocharged unit up to 280hp. Putting all that power through the front wheels may seem hazardous, but the boffins at Renault have thoroughly re-engineered the Megane’s front end to handle all that power.

Prizes for seasonal championships this week include the imposing Terradyne Gurkha and a special Forza Edition of the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series.

The big talking point for seasonal prizes is the debut of the 2016 Renault Clio R.S. 16 concept. Although this Clio never saw production, it demonstrates how extreme a front-wheel drive B-segment hot hatch can be. It houses the running gear from a previous generation Megane RS, meaning a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine making 270hp.

You can acquire the Clio from the “Renault Championship” event.

If you want to deck out your avatar’s wardrobe, there’s also a Classic Race Suit up for grabs.

Forzathon Events

Among the winter conditions, Forzathon takes a look at a classic British sports car: the Austin-Healey Sprite. Own and drive this “frog-eye” roadster to get things rolling.

Next up, head for the races and earn 5 Drafting Skills in your Sprite. After that, head out for a drive across the UK. You’ll need to rack up 10 miles in order to progress.

Finally, put your foot down and earn a total of six stars from Speed Traps to complete the first challenges of 2020.

Forzathon Shop

The Forzathon Shop is in a generous mood this week. Playground Games’ advent calendar may have finished, but a free car is still on the agenda.

That car is the 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. Built to replace the Vanquish as Aston’s flagship grand tourer, the DBS comes with supercar-rivaling performance. The 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 pumps out 715hp, which may prove a handful on the UK’s icy roads. There’s no need to dig in to your wallet for the DBS either, as it’s available for free.

For those after a car more suited the snow, the 2019 Porsche Macan Turbo should be more than enough. This SUV brings a potent 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 turning out 434hp. It may not be the fastest SUV, but it can still handle whatever conditions are thrown at it.

You’ll need to pay up for the Macan, which will set you back 450 Forzathon Points.

Cosmetic and novelty items available for purchase include the Golden Mustache and the Windows XP Shutdown horn.
