Almost nine months on from being teased at the Gran Turismo World Series event in London, Xiaomi has revealed its Vision Gran Turismo car ahead of its arrival in the game at a yet-to-be-announced date.
The Chinese brand, which became the first marque from the nation to be represented in a Gran Turismo game when the SU7 Ultra arrived in January, presented the vehicle at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 event in Barcelona earlier today. Although the presentation only featured video of the vehicle, a full-size model will be present at the event during the coming week too.
Although we don’t currently have propulsion specifications for the car, with Xiaomi set to reveal more tomorrow, it’s likely that the Vision GT will be an all-wheel drive and battery-electric vehicle. We’d be tempted to assume a drive system borrowed from the 1,525hp SU7 Ultra, but the presentation seemed to hint at doing more with less…

Li Tianyuan (also known as Sawyer Li), head of design at Xiaomi EV and vice chairman of the Xiaomi Group Design Committee, presented the Vision GT car and the former BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce man spoke at length about the aerodynamics-led design of the car.
The cockpit cell is designed as a teardrop shape, allowing air to flow beneath the car to be diverted to the elongated rear diffuser assembly, with active components redirecting the airflow in real time. Li noted the giant, curved rear section, “like a boat”, which encompasses not just the diffuser but the rear light and an intriguing air-curtain system.
In effect, the holes you can see between the C-shaped section and the body can provide additional airflow. By directing air in this manner, the separation point of the air from the body and thus the energy-sapping wake behind the car can be pushed backwards to make it more efficient.

The extent of clever aerodynamic tricks like this even extends to the wheels. They’re designed with a special turbine effect to draw air out from the wheel well and over the brakes to cool them. That’s all covered with a magnetically stabilized piece that stays still while the car is moving in order to generate as little wake as possible around these traditionally chaotic areas.
There’s a few details highlighted in the video not specifically covered in the presentation, but Li explained that almost no exterior design element is there for aesthetics alone, with the focus being on aerodynamics.
Overall this gives a car with a relatively low coefficient of drag, at 0.29, while still boasting a downforce-to-drag ratio of 4.1:1 — equivalent to a Le Mans Hypercar. That should mean it won’t need a heavy battery and motor setup to perform well on-track.

Interestingly, Li noted that the cockpit of the Vision GT is designed to buck the hypercar trend and be something “warm” and “comfortable” like “racing on the sofa” — which, to be fair, is how many players will be driving the car in Gran Turismo.
Describing the cabin as a “cocoon”, the two-seat setup doesn’t go with the usual bucket seats but a more sculpted and padded arrangement that “firmly embraces you”. The whole cabin loops around from the seat, around the dash, and back to the other seat in a single form.
Of course connectivity is a big deal with Xiaomi, and the car — at least in concept — will feature the same Xiaomi Hyper OS as its real-world SU7 and YU7 cars, allowing integration with your Xiaomi smart watch and phone. It also features the intelligent assistant, presenting information on the figure-eight shaped steering wheel and the dash.
What looks to be machined aluminum physical controls abound too, with a central spine housing suspension and drive controls, including the gear selector. That flashy steering wheel also sports a couple of dials on the inside edge, although we’re not sure what they control at this point.

We’re not yet sure when the Xiaomi Vision GT will arrive in Gran Turismo, but it’s likely to be pretty soon. Fans will have noticed that February 2026 went by without an update, and may well be expecting something for March 2026 to mark the game’s fourth anniversary.
It’s something we’ll keep an eye on and bring you the latest news as we get it — so watch this space!
