Could spd or RageRacer please kinda summarise what versions and mods are available, and from where? I enjoyed the one with the kinda proving ground (walls etc) and just two trucks (SUV and 8-wheeler if I remember correctly?) and would love to check it out again but am a little confused as to what is available, and where. I would be particularly interested in new maps, not so much vehicles though that is fun too of course =)

Thanks, I think that's the demo I have though and I don't have the savvy to mod myself, so I guess I am looking for sources of the best additional maps and vehicles. I'll go through this thread again, perhaps I am being a little lazy ;)

Are there any modded maps yet?
Yes, there are two map mods available for now: "Chocomap" and "German forest".

Here is the download section of the official site: http://www.oovee.co.uk/forum/forum/17-latest-downloads/
You can see the variety yourself. :)

 fantastic.
Awesome truck, I wanted it from the very beginning of the project.
Would be cool to have these versions:

Almost no doubt about this one in the game (it's all about logs!) :D

Could I get away with a useable version on a laptop with Intel HD? I'd been reminded of this game watching Top Gear pit the new Range Rover against the Oskosh automated truck.

I'm really looking forward to this release, love the beta/demo version though am hoping for more maps and some challenges. Looks like there will be some involving loading etc. but some point-to-point challenges with penalties for hitting flags or resetting the vehicle would be neat too. Also hope vehicle mods can still be used as they may not get the licence for some of the manufacturers.

@Tyger -- I believe the gameplay is intended to revolve around logging and tackling various jobs/tasks, while minding your fuel consumption and trying not to break parts. It might be more of an RPGish experience than a racing game.

The release date is declared as June, 13th. A Russian retailer, Novy Disk (ND), offers a pre-order already.

Wow, I'm glad I wondered in here. This game looks like a lot of fun.

Does anyone know if they've added steering wheel support yet?

I'm a beta tester, if you've got any questions...

Look up one post, that's one question I want to know the answer to (assuming it goes hand-in-hand with cockpit view). Apart from that:

- Why hasn't dubstep died yet?
- What are the biggest changes from the publicly available tech demo?
- Is the dubstep optional?

Most of answers to similar questions are in official FAQ.

As for changes from the tech demo, it is a much deeper experience now. Better terrain interaction, great real life like locations, sim elements. It just feels much more realistic and advanced, the tech demo was just what its name says.

Oh, I hate dubstep too.

Is there wheel support? If so how is it?

I looked through the FAQ (thanks @spd )and it looks like the tech demo doesn't have support but the full game will , here's a quote from their site.

"
Q: Will SPINTIRES support USB steering wheels?

A: Yes. SPINTIRES will support USB steering wheels including the Logitech G25/G27 with clutch and H-gear selection support.
"

Another quote:
"
Q: Will SPINTIRES feature a cockpit view for each truck?

A: Unfortunately this feature will not be present in the initial release of the game. It is possible that such feature will be available in the future.

Q: Since SPINTIRES will not feature cockpit views initially, will you provide other views such as "hood" cameras?

A: Yes.

So there are 7 cars initially in the game (without mods)?

UAZ 469 (2.5 L I4, 75 hp, 166 Nm, 4x4) 1980-2005
ZiL 130 (6.0 L V8, 150 hp, 402 Nm 4x2 RWD) 1962-present
KamAZ (unknown exact model)
KrAZ 255 (14.5 L V8, 240 hp, 833 Nm, 6x6) 1967-1994
Ural 4320 (11.2 L V8, 230 hp, 800 Nm, 6x6) 1977-present
MAZ 535 (38.9 L V12, 375 hp, 2200 Nm, 8x8) 1958-1964
MAZ 543 (38.9 L V12, 525 hp, 2206 Nm, 8x8) 1962-present

Oovee just released some new info yesterday on their site.

One thing mentioned is that wheel support will come later with an update unfortunately. But I'm still exited to play it with a controller.

This reminds me that this title could open the door for someone to make a 4x4 shifter with 4 low and 4 high controls, maybe even some diff lock buttons for front and rear.
If the do the 4 low and high controls right shifting into low or high should be hard and should grind a bit (mostly sarcasm).

Is the demo still available? The link in the first post is broken. This game looks so fun. Been wanting a proper offroad game for many years.
