Academy Champion Jordan Tresson at the Spa 6 Hours

GT Academy’s 2010 champion Jordan Tresson gets a second chance at an LMP2 debut this afternoon as the Signatech Nissan team take to the track for the WEC Spa 6 Hours.

This is the team’s second race of the season, but their first race at Sebring was cut short by an unfortunate accident after 240 laps without Tresson turning a wheel. Their #23 car, driven by Tresson, Franck Mailleux and Olivier Lombard, is qualified to 14th in the LMP2 class, but has been running as high as 6th in class during this morning’s very damp warm-up session ahead of the race at 12.30GMT/UTC.

You can catch live timing of the race on fiawec.com or lemans.org, while the race will be broadcast live on some regional Eurosport channels.

UPDATE: Jordan Tresson unfortunately made an error during the race, after disabling the car’s traction control by accident. While entring the pits, the car spun, placing the rear wheels in the grass. The accident cost the team a lot of time, but they still managed to bring the car home to a 13th-place finish.

Elsewhere, the first GT Academy winner Lucas Ordoñez has been testing the unique Highcroft Nissan DeltaWing at Magny-Cours this week. Though both will be present at Le Mans this year, Lucas is scheduled to be driving the Greaves Motorsport LMP2 alongside father and son team Martin and Alex Brundle. The DeltaWing’s full driver team for the race has not yet been announced, but includes Marino Franchitti and Michael Krumm.

Meanwhile, Nissan have released a video of Jann Mardenborough‘s experiences at the Blancpain Endurance Series race at Monza three weeks ago. The video covers some of the build-up to the race, including interviews with Jann’s team mates Chris Ward and Alex Buncombe, with exclusive in-car footage as the team take the car as high as 6th before suffering a fault, agonisingly, on the very last corner of the race – losing twenty places in one turn after 3 hours of racing.

Jann is next in action in the Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone on June 3rd.

Hmmm, wonder if we could se the DeltaWing in some form of free car giveaway, should any of the GTAcademy team do well, like they did with the free RedBull giveaway last october, though i still think that was a mistake.(RedBull always shows up in MuscleCar Room without permission probably driven by some 14 year old).

Im hopeful that a Spec Skin of that car is in the works along with a real World, or fantasy road course. PD wont let us down they just need more time. GT5 good for maybe a couple more good updates and new DLC. its gonna happen i just feel it.

The DeltaWing is, physicswise, a totally different thing from a rectangular based car. The guys building it are exploring new ground with every screw and bolt they design for it, so I don’t think PD will waste an entire team to “build” a realistic version of a deltacar for GT5. They wouldn’t know where to begin anyway. But maybe Nissan and Highcroft do share their data to PD (including telemetry) sometime in the future, you never know. Not before Le Mans though …

    1. ironman44321

Yeah they are. I wish PD would drop there partnership with Nissan and make one with Audi. That would be awesome.

    2. ironman44321

      Oh please research,

We could Audi, a company with one of the best racing heratiges in the world and has made some really great road, racing, and concept cars.

  2. TomBrady

Dude I never thought GT5 would need another Nissan after the 2012 GT-R, but I was wrong.
    THIS IS DEEEELLLLLTTTAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wing

  3. Marky264

Jordan’s finally back into the Pits now. I hope they can fix the Steering Collumn or Suspension. But looks unlikely.

  4. Radracing

They were runing 5th don’t know how far back the the other team is behind but I think they are going to drop down if they can get the car back on track.

  5. Marky264

Urgh! I’m gutted. Been watching Jordan since he got in the car this afternoon and he’s just Crashed into the Wall on the Pit Enterance. He lost the rear end as he was coming up the Pit Enterance Hill.

He must be disappointed with that. It’s such a shame very hard mistake.

  6. Foxiol

OH NO i am watching the race right now and Jordan Tresson is out of the race with the Nissan Signatech! OH man!! What a shame. I saw it live…1 hour and a half to the end of the race.

    Again what a shame!

    1. Marky264

He’s just been pushed back onto the track and He can’t turn into the pits! :( He’s blocked the Pit Exit currently. Damaged Steering.

  7. Foxiol

Pretty cool, good luck as usually and all the best for GT Academy winners.

(in other notes i am starting to think that we are going to see even more Nissan´s in GT6…Gran Turismo 6 The Nissan Simulator!…we have tons of new cars and prototypes, hopefully they are going to get rid of the “repetitive” models in the game to include more variety overall…lets see)

  8. occasionalracer

Amazing involvement in motorsports by all Academy Champions, wishing all of you the best results!

  9. GT5 Level 41

    Flame me if you must.

I just can’t get into these multi-class endurance races. It never fails, I will be pulling for someone and they get caught up in some wreck caused by too many mixed class cars going into a tight section of track at the same time going way different speeds.

  10. MyFavoriteGame

Oh how I wish GT5 had multi-class endurance racing, kinda like GRID did….but better. We already have quite a few LMP Cars (I think I own around 10 or so).
I don’t even care if its online or not, I would just love that Le Mans experience in GT5.

    1. Quakebass

Yeah, AT LEAST two classes, like LMP vs LMS or something… If they had two classes, it would allow up to 8 cars per class. I think the most they could do would be 4, then being able to do 4 cars per class. It’d be great to have a proper endurance experience, and include your B-Spec drivers or some other AI drivers in your racing team.

  11. PIGBOY

they just mentioned him as a gt academy winner as they read the grid out for the race at Spa

  12. Youngun

Think Batman was lined up to driver the Deltawing but has other priorities (and is to expensive)

    1. XPOWER180

Good stuff, when funds allow i’m after a MKII ZTV8. Shame they never included more modern MG’s in GT5 such as the SV-R, all the high end Z’s (ZR160, ZS180, ZT’s 190 & 260) and of course the classic 6R4 ! That’s the biggest mystery to me – they have all the major Group B cars and they have the licence to use the MG name yet they never included the 6R4. Very odd decision.

    2. researchALLwars

wow that SV-R is awesome. Never knew that existed and I consider myself a car guy. I am ashamed. : l

    3. Jaycue58

Dont bother with the ZT260 I road tested one it just did not feel that sure footed compared to the ZT 190,i bought mine brand new still makes me smile when i get a clegg on ,i totally agree an SV would have been cool in the game

    4. XPOWER180

Ha, well i’ve driven a few 260’s and i love them – to be honest the MK1 is the better of the V8’s (no traction control, better brakes) but they had more reliability issues so i’ll be going for a MKII but i still totaly love them even though they’re barely any faster than my ZS. I like quirky cars and the V8 epitomises the quirky nature of a car company. Apparently each one should have sold for closing on £80,000 due to the development costs but who’s going to pay that!?
