Ok, so I tested the counter steering and it does appear to go to full lock. Only seems to happen for me at extreme car angles hence why I haven't noticed it with general driving as I don't tend to rag the car. Maybe a demo issue as this has only surfaced since the demo and not heard anything about it from those with green discs.

We haven't heard anything because they have a Non-Disclosure Agreement preventing them from saying anything about the game. Chances are most of them are too dumb and complacent to notice it though (and too used to Forza 3 having the same assist)

Be nice if someone could get a replay up too. To show what the tires are actually doing.

Control pads need assists. 900 degrees = 1 inch of lateral movement on a stick doesn't work too well.

A wheel should be fine though.
Odd as it may be, if true it's hardly an assist as it would make driving more unpredictable. Maybe it's the control pad buffer screwing up demo. Hopes.

Glad they put out a demo though.
If people are not happy now is there chance to back out.
Playing a demo and not being happy then going on to buy the full game shouldn't moan.

People not buying the game shouldn't moan.

= No moaners. (yeah right)

Something this big would have come out I'm sure. And not everyone with a green disc is a dumb journo. Some of the most respected painters, drifters, leader board sitters, etc. were sent them as well. People who know their stuff.

Even if it does turn out to exist in the final release. I hadn't noticed until I went looking for it, as I say only seems to happen at big slide angles. I don't get into those situations too often in FM as I'm a racer. I've been having a lot of fun with the demo and everything, particularly the handling and ffb, seems massively improved. So I don't think it's going to ruin that for me. Would be a different case if I was a drifter.

Edit: ok just tried the wheel or 'normal' steering......and didn't really seem any different to 'simulation'. Anybody else tried this and if so did you notice any difference?

That looks incredible, wow! Turn 10 seems to love the fact they have the Top Gear license:p

No, it wouldn't have, because most people are too stupid and complacent to notice it or care about it. Also, EVERYONE with an advance copy, including the tuners and drifters and painters, have signed an NDA prohibiting them from talking about it. Previewers also are limited in what they can say, and from what I can tell all the previewers were using controllers so they wouldn't have noticed a Fanatec wheel assist.

I realise they have signed an NDA. Doesn't mean info doesn't get out. Look how many pics and videos have been posted. And I've seen posts elsewhere from people talking about their experiences. I'll wait til I have the finished game before I get pre menstrual about it.

I've also. Just gone and had a look, and yep, I see what you are saying, the initial video showed the old wheel wobble being prominant (more annoying artefact then anytthing else), but having tried lots of fishtailing, indeed, it is increasing lock as suggested. Whilst doing it, I noticed some other niggles.
- speed sensitive steering is still there
- I can't see any real difference between normal, assisted and simulation using the wheel, when madly fishtailing.

Saying that, I had a laugh hammering the Zonda and M5 around, and popped in FM3 quickly to do a quick rough comparison, and the physics feel much better in FM4...

I do hope T10 make some statement on this, I would like to think its a bug, or the steering options seem to be very small when using an actual wheel.. But as Slim says, I wont be busting a gut over it, the game will be what it will be, I play so many, they all have their physics issues, so I will judge it as a whole.

I'm not defending, nor dismissing it, I personally hate the speed sensitive behaviour more as I drive with only about 210 degrees lock, so I correct faster and with more input then this gives, but get robbed off turn in response at speed... but if you use 900 degrees, I can understand its more of an issue, although to be fair its only seemingly at large rates of change of momentum when you have only small countersteering inputs (being amplified), in which case you'd have lost the car due to non-response? Lets hope T10 do something, it'll make more people happy!

If I ignore the telemetry, and drift the car, it does feel (as I've already said) slightly safe/soft, I just don't let get in the way of enjoying the rest of the physics.. until the perfect game comes along, that's about all you do..

Is working in the same fashion as FM3 but toned down. In a normal race it saves you almost every time you put the car in trouble. Check the shaking wheel in the telemetry and the automated corrections.

I've now had wheel time with the Forza 4 demo... The auto correct is very prominent. Even when taking it easy, if you were to use the correct amount of counter steer it creates a fishtail mess. Simple power slides shouldn't be insanely complex and require battling fishtails every single time. Maybe if you goof, but do it every single turn and the same exact thing happens. You always over correct because of it, until you get used to it.

I sent Dan Greenawalt a lengthy Facebook message explaining and proving the existence of the steering assist, and he goes and claims it's still unassisted. Great.

Seeing as small power slides feel right until you reach a certain point of angle in FM3, I don't think FM4 will be worse? anyway will make my own verdict in few hours time I hope.

I thought Dan was just the Creative Director? How does being the Creative Director make him the lead developer, if I may be so kind as to ask?

He's the lead guy. I don't know who'd be higher ranking at Turn 10 than him. He was responsible for the steering assist in the first place.

It's is kind of funny that every feature of Forza 4 is criticized BUT the telemetry screen. The game is rubbish and inaccurate but the telemetry screen HAS to be accurate - to support the steering assist theory :ouch:

It IS accurate. If you watch a replay or go to a camera where you can see the front wheels turning there is a direct correlation between the telemetry wheel and the actual angle of the front wheels.

Also, Dan Greenawalt replied again to my Facebook message and he says he's going to look into it. This gives me a bit of a glimmer of hope.

The auto correct is visible on the cars wheels as well. FM4 demo is the same as FM3, its not about telemetry or steering wobble.

Come on now. Everyone knows Dan is the head of T10 and all final decisions go through him.

Well looks like they lost 3 customers.
Sad day in America.
I'll post cool pics so you guys wont miss a thing ;D

You're missing the point. We aren't trying to "hurt" Turn 10 in any way shape or form. Simply pointing out an obvious flaw about the game and stated that it ruins it for us and not buying it is completely different. Same thing with me not buying Driver SF. Terrible physics and a city that shares zero similarities with the real SF. They should of just called it Driver 4.

Not buying games because of something that ruins the game play no matter how big or small isn't trying to start a boycott. When you buy a car, you want it to be what they tell you it is. If you go buy a BMW M5 right now, you expect to have a very fast car, with a quality interior with a good ride, because that's what they tried to make. Should you be satisfied if one of those three things don't live up to expectations? No.

Im sorry bro, I understand you now.
A little bit.
However, I think you are making a mistake not buying the game, other than that flaw the game is making out so far to be great.
Sorry for seeming like I was attacking you.

Its not worth buying a 360 for it.
