Not wanting to bug any of the SNAIL Stewards of course or anyone and I understand there is no racing this weekend but just curious when ill know what division ill be in. Thanks guys 👍 Of course I understand there is a lot to do and life comes in the way and much more. No Rush of course

You'll find out your division prior to next Sunday. The reason for not finding out is to make sure the new drivers don't upset the balance of numbers in each division. The division you'll be in doesn't really matter until race night, especially for someone like yourself who is returning.

Yet, to really answer your question, you will likely find out your assigned division next Sunday morning (west coast time).

New personal best at trial mountain with the S2000

I was happy with a 1:42, aliens always with their 4 second faster times lol

Anyone up for a little head to head practice? Regardless division, I need to get some car on car action for tonights races. I was cocky to think I could come back after a year of not racing and be consistent. Noticing my lap times are half a second to a full second slower, and my race craft needs improving, especially in the areas of passing/choosing a line.

There are no Sunday races this weekend. There is an endurance event running.

We are looking for new drivers to join our league. With a new season comes new GT3 spec road cars!

If your looking for something to do on Fridays, please check out the thread for the Friday night [GT1 Championship] Series and request to join. The next season (Season 8) starts on 9/25/15 and would love to have some quality SNAILS join the fun. Space is limited so if your interested, don't delay.

If you have any questions about the GT1 championship Series , please let me know. Hope to see you on the track.

Looks like I have a new place to source track maps from for banners.

On another somewhat related note, I've thought about printing out course maps with my 3D printer. I might have to try a few soon. Also thought about doing some with elevation and land topography too. Would be cool to turn one into a diorama.

I need to yap at you, man!

Software is my weak point. I have had great success printing designs others have made (thingiverse, trades with architect acquaintances) but I have struggled to learn software that works or makes sense for me.

Making a 3D map is what I really would like to do. Ok, one of two dozen things I would like, but it is on a very short list.

My Printrbot Plus is claiming 8x8x8, but I would think -1 to all those is a safety margin.

A major plus - PLA casts can be used like wax in the 'lost wax method' of metal casting. Print in PLA, pack into casting sand, and pour molten metal...

As promised, here's a link to the cases I now have setup. I finally got my Hamilton and Rosberg W05 cars that I had waited a few months for. 3 cars not pictured are an AutoArt S2000, UT Models Mercedes SLK 230, and a 1999 Viper GTS-R driven at Le Mans.

Re: Labor Day Endurance Race

For all of those that put forth effort organizing, hosting, communicating, and reorganizing, I give a sincere Thank You. I've grown fond of these Endurance Events, and appreciate all of your hard work.

And to all drivers that were willing to wait for technical problems, drove clean and competitive, and saw their races through to the end, a big thanks to you as well.

@Rednose58 , @MajorBlixem , @TomMang_68 and all the Hosts and guys who made this happen, today I changed a button on my keyboard which I push sooooo hard

this was an amazing experience and for myself the 2nd endurance race I did organised by you, respect for the happening, preparation time, trying out tracks as cars, thread creation and and and and updating and and...
I had so much fun and am looking forward to the next bank holiday falling on a SNAIL Sunday race
On another side I cannot accept @DesertPenguin09 's aprupt leaving of the race and especially - this is the main point concerning myself - @MajorBlixem was propulsed some moments after this, a true SNAILER and I know that, prepared to archieve a good result and being in a good position, ahh Major, soo sorry for that...additionally to that you post such a cr:censored:ap post of boring or something similar...for your information Bishop and myself were lapped 1x, Killer 3x, Dynamo 5x but everybody raced till the end because we all subscribed to a 90' race, and had fun showed comraderie, respect, SNAIL spirit and this shows something like being mature, adult and I personally think in this point you have a looooong way to go, a huge endurance personal race........no funny pic this time but a sincere statement DP
cheers STEAMER62

Found something interesting. So, Midfield Raceway came out as a free update around Feb 2015, https://www.gtplanet.net/midfield-raceway-coming-to-gran-turismo-6/.

I managed to get a screenshot of this photo due to lag in the lobby, but that's not the point. Look at the that part of track I circled.

Now skip to 6:38 in this video.

Does it look familiar? It's from Gran Turismo PSP, though it was a test track which didn't make it into the official release, PD left traces of it leaving curious people traces of secret unfinished tracks, and there were lots of them.

What I'm trying to say is that they probably ported the track or else that test track wouldn't be sitting there. If they can port Midfield Raceway without starting from scratch, I don't see why they can't port other tracks, which didn't make it into GT6.

Or course maker would be cool too.

I was going through my imgur pictures and found my custom tracks from GT5. Somehow the random elevation changes worked to my advantage on two occasions and the tracks feel real and fluid.

tn7X4.jpg

The front straight is flat ground. Turn 1/2 is a quick right/left chute still with no elevation change. A little banking on the road. Turn 3 starts to go kinda steep uphill about where the apex is and the straight to Turn 4 is slightly uphill. Then Turn 5-9 is the esses, all even ground and a lot of fun. It ends with Turn 10 which is like a chute where you can really push wide but then once you get out there cut back in for Turn 11. Turn 12/13 is a double apex left. Again this whole area so far has very little elevation change. Turn 13 leads to the back straight which is constantly slightly going uphill to Turns 14 and 15. They are on level ground and lead back to the main straight. It's a high speed lap.

This next one I have to thank someone (I forgot who) for making it into a real track map
EPTaT.jpg

Turn 1 is downhill near the apex so it's easy to take with just some light braking. Depending on the power of the car Turn 2 can be flat out or just a lift off. No elevation change and loads of fun. I'm having trouble remember the whole thing but Turn 5 leads to a downhill straight and Turn 6 banks uphill to the next straight. It has this little left/right bit in the road before Turn 7. You can't straight the road so some cars can get upset suspension here. Turns 8/9 are a nice double apex leading to Turn 10 so you have to quickly get back to the other side of the road. Because Turn 10 is of a slower speed, you don't have to brake much for Turn 11. Just a bit, get around the apex and floor it onto the main straight.

These were some great tracks.

Back when @vsfit and I (along with many others) would play "break out", we found a hidden go-cart track at Ascari. We tried and tried to get on it, but no luck.

there is a hidden track inside SSX also you can see pieces of it before you go into the tunnel and the gran stands are noticeable too.

I honestly didn't know porting from different consoles was possible. Between PSP and PS3, there is a big margin. I couldn't find any other videos of other Gran Turismo versions with this particular track. It would be really interesting to see if they will port other tracks to GT6. Though it's very unlikely.

I'll let you guys debate this, I have to go to sleep.

So where is all this downhill stuff after all the uphill? Kind of hard to imagine it without that.

It goes back down a bit from Turn 4-6. The overall track had something like only 120 feet of elevation change. One of the lowest I've ever seen. I think I still have a GT5 game save on my PS3. If I have the game data and don't have to do a ton of installs I may just load it up and drive the tracks again to give a better description.

Autocross from last weekend...

Normally I'm 6+ seconds from the leader. Somehow I put things together and was only 2.5 seconds behind. The Cayman GT4 (third place - he's only had the car for 3 weeks, and still on the OEM Street tires... and he's really, really good...) dusted me, but I was only a little over a second behind the 2013 GT-R.

I ended up 1st in class, 10th overall (50 drivers). Normally, I'd aim to finish above 25 in that crowd. Yesterday, I was ahead of several 2013-2015 911 Turbos, and a passel of Cayman S types, a primary instructor, the course designer, and many other really fast cars - they have power steering, and all the bells and whistles!

I think I have instructors who are teaching me to drive faster... I want to be a good student and learn MORE.
