After picking up the loose $TH Falcon, I decided for sure I was never going to uncard any of my $upers. The absence of a metal base killed all perceivable value I felt for the Falcon. Maybe I picked it up at first with a set of expectations that could not be met.

I mean, all premium cars I pick up are heavy due to the metal bases, but $upers don't have them (unless the casting's base is metal by default)...are $upers suddenly not premium? On paper? No. After I picked it up? Yeah, somewhat.

It sucks though. I did want to go photograph the 599XX, but now I don't want to. :grumpy: Da HW Life full of troubles.

The problem is.....it's still a $1 car. Metal/metal mainline cars are VERY rare now, and those that are hanging on to that combo ('67 Camaro for example) are only staying that way because Mattel is afraid of disappointing collectors of one of their most popular castings. Anything now days with a metal base has a plastic body as a trade off. If you want metal/metal cars with good detail, then you're getting into the premium stuff where the price jumps $3-4.

I love when scalpers buy all the cars from the store and then try to pawn them off on suckers in huge lots like that.

Frustration aside, I just spent $47 for a Super Datsun. At this point I have spent so much money trying to find one in the store I could have bought 3 of them online. I just wanted the rush of finding one for myself, but it's never going to happen so I'm just going to bite the bullet an move on with my life.

@a6m5 you still have your RLC membership? Does anyone else have one?

@R1600Turbo I agree. The only times I may buy more than 2 of a car is 1 for me to collect, 1 for my brother (which isn't often) or dad, couple for customising.

I couldn't imagine buying more than one of a car unless it was a variant. No point in it for me. Not yet. Not until I learn to customize.

I spy a RLC BRE Datsun 240Z.

Who's ready to fork out some cash on that one?
I'm more curious about that yellow Ford Transit, right next to the RLC Datsun. Is it a Hot wheels cast?

On the scalpers, same thing with those F&F cars. I'm still seeing those online for maybe $1~$2 profit. They want to screw other people for dollar per car?

On Treasure Hunts: If I really like the casting, I'd consider opening it, since I don't plan on selling it anyway. If the casting is really collectible though(valuable), that does come into play.

For you, anything.

I think after all I've heard, I think I'll open mine. I'm not collecting to hold on to them for somebody else. This is my collection. I like my cars to be able to be handled, looked at and admired. That's the point for me. To feel like a kid again. I enjoyed finding the TH's, and that's the grown up side, but bringing them home and just hanging them, too grown up for me. I guess I like my HW's much like my strippers, loose and wild.

Also, what is the RLC. (Please don't mind the newbie questions, just trying to learn all the ends and outs. You guys have already taught me so much as it stands. Thank you for that.)

Need RLC 240Z.
Also, what is the RLC.
Redline Club. Membership for HW collectors direct through Mattel. Some cars like the 240Z in the photo are only sold on the Hotwheelscollectors.com website throughout the year. They are usually sold first come first served to RLC members first, then if there are any left those without the membership can purchase. I have a feeling that one will sell out, so I need some help getting it. I refuse to get a membership because I'm only interested in 1-2 cars they have every year, and right now they are having major issues shipping the cars out. Lots of people are angry.

@Ken Koios - It's Mattel's online collector club. I think I paid $35 for the annual membership? Every few weeks, they have special cars(limited availability), people compete like hell for them. They generally cost at least $10 + shipping, but due to scarceness, these cars could multiply in value as soon as they are released.

I bet they are slightly looser south of the border.

You should join. Like tonight.

There is no doubt in my mind that it will sell out, just as fast as the Bluebird, if not faster. And I would like to have two(who wouldn't!).

Reasons for not joining stated above. If you don't want to help, just say no. I'll just pay $150 for it on eBay. Maybe I should stop being so helpful to people if I don't get anything in return.

I think I have to agree with @R1600Turbo on this one. $35 dollars to join and the most you get is A few chances? A chance at a car that you, by chance, might like. Only to pay $10 in shipping for a chance it may be shipped out. Doesn't sound like a deal to me.

Sweet Porsche. 👍
Don't know if this has been posted yet. New Toyota collection from Kyosho. Do want one of those 86's.
At a reasonable price, I wouldn't mind the first three(Century, Prius & Crown).

I do wish to keep both 240Z's, but boy, I am sorry you feel that way. I really struggle to see your point of view on this.

I hope I'm lucky enough to score those 240Zs, but I'm at work when they go on sale, so it's really at best 50/50 shot for me anyways.

I actually think keeping one's collectibles in mint packaging and hanging them up is the less grown up thing to do. Scale models in their bases and boxes are different. Blisters and cards weren't designed to be kept anyway. The card backing exists to sell people on graphics and to prevent people from an easy shoplift attempt. That's just me though.

I bet they are slightly looser south of the border.

You gonna take that from him, @Cano?

Do not want those 86s. Don't need to covet another car that requires engaging in bid wars. Although there's nothing there I'd like to add to the collection, it's nice to see an installation that's not exotics/supercars.

If you took a photo at a worm's eye view, the car will look like it has some wicked gravel suspension setup.

I see you getting rid of that Truck I got you, Jason. :O

You guys should consider some of those auctions. He's not even asking for a whole lot, and there isn't a whole load of bidders.

Those 86s look better than the previous ones and the OEMs.

That Crown is wicked. I have seen one in person during my trip in Japan last month. It's a Crown Athlete.

And the Subaru.

Gotta make up for a $50 Super Datsun somehow.
