Will you big TLV owners one day gather all your cars together and take one group photo so we can be blown away by the sheer quantity you guys have been secretly racking up?

They are all in my wall displays. Well except for the buses and trucks that don't fit in the slots. I am about up to 245 TLV cars. With the trucks and buses it is probably at about 275.

No, I totally get you. I was just replying to your statement about "imagine where they'd be?", because TLV didn't get where they are by following the money.
Still, think where they would be with the popular cars.

I'm not saying they have to stop making the weird stuff and change to the popular stuff, I would just like them in addition to what they already make. That way you guys can get what you want, and I'll get what I want, and then everyone is happy. The Toyota Supra's coming out in June are a nice step in the right direction. Hopefully they continue with it.

Edit: Just got my AmiAmi payment request for the N-Attack GT-R's. :D

I'm just saying there's nobody else out there that does quality like they do, and it would be nice to have some popular JDM cars available in said quality. And you know what? They would sell, and they would sell REALLY well. Again, high prices of the TLV Civic's is excellent proof of that.

That's just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

I don't disagree with your statement and I'm not saying that you're wrong. But opinions aren't necessarily invincible statements, and while we're entitled to acknowledge it, nobody is obliged to agree just because they're opinions. I think other readers will be less likely to interpret your opinions as a factual statement if you incorporated words like "I think" into your posts. I'll be blunt, I myself had been reading those previous posts as observational facts. Didn't sense much of it being

That's just a suggestion I feel you may find useful later, but you're welcome to brush this off if you feel I'm barking at a door. I leave that option to you. :)

A high-end series of 90's Japanese cars would sell well, but what I think Shinji was saying is that era of cars in question, compared to the '60s-'80s range of cars TLV delivers, is not suitable to the theme of "Vintage". Well, maybe in 10 more years from now?

We've seen plenty of your photos by now, but damn! That is a lot of money hanging on the wall!

I want to hear about the other guys always preordering stuff. You guys know who you are. *cut eye*

One of them is a secret car. Just needed to let go of my extras. :P

By any chance is it the LMP? But wait.. that's the Karuwaza. This one's the secret:

2013 Aston Martin Cetenary Minicar Collection
Vanquish (Secret)

ebignorijp had the highest bidder at $37 IIRC. Taachi has this for $50. I saw a listing on Yahoo
with the exact same listing photo thinking it was taachi's yahoo account, but whomever it was
listed it for 3700 JPY. That's a lot less than 37 USD any day. :)

@RCKakashi14, But if isn't it, what could it be?

All this TLV talk and I'm not even a big fan of Japanese cars. They just never appealed to me.
In the end it's probably a good thing because TLV's aren't exactly cheap. :p

I don't recall the IDx or the Nismo GT-R's being "vintage".

Don't worry, there are pleeeeenty of european brands making european cars you can spend crazy money on. Heck, even some japanese brands making european cars. Have you seen TLV's Audis? Or Kyosho's take on the 2002?

I don't recall the IDx or the Nismo GT-R's being "vintage".

You are right, they aren't. But the thing is, they both have sold tremendously well for non-Vintage cars. The IDx's popularity was probably the catalyst for Tomica to risk the TLV name on another non-vintage car such as the Nismo GT-R. Say what you will, they both made quite the good profit, and they both retain the quality that we've gotten used to see in Tomica Limited Vintage cars. And besides, they are only two, compared to the many other Vintage cars Tomica sells. So, so far, I wouldn't be too worried about the TLV brand losing its identity, if you ask me. Just my five cents.

Now, let's get lay this argument to rest for now, shall we?

You're right, I probably shouldn't complain much. I'm just a cheapskate that doesn't want to spend too much money. :p

Yeah I don't know why they still put it under title TLV. Maybe they included it as part of TLV because the TL series was discontinued, and it was easier to lump it into TLV than make a new name. But they've got the new name of Tomica Limited in the making, so maybe any JDM cars to be made can be included under that title.

Had Hot Wheels produced most of the cars that Kyosho has ever released, I think I would've still had HW as my primary brand.

These days, it's getting hard to keep any loyalty with them. I have the benefit of acquiring locally, but the stuff doesn't get updated. I can search online, but I got to cover shipping expenses and the marked up prices. Maybe it's because I've been investing mostly in Kyosho that a $3 tag doesn't sit well with me for a mainline HW or MBX now.

That new line doesn't appear to have the same quality, which is unfortunate.

Me, too.

That is why the pink RLBB, or the '68 Enamel White Camaro or for that matter Cushenberry's Cheetah (which was rebranded as the Python) will be always out of my reach. :(

And why I'll have to keep looking at yet another plastic-winged 911 plastered in decal livery. :irked:

The first two, yeah forget it. The Python is one of the cheapest redlines, you'll have a mint one for $25-30.

I agree, I don't find their new stuff very interesting most of the time. The local markets never really did update their stock here, but it's been worse and worse lately. I think that these things just don't sell as well as they used to. It seems that Majorettes have been forgotten in my area as nobody carries them anymore. Matchbox is hanging on (barely) with old stock and while Hot Wheels have larger peg area and their own 'death bins', I see the same stock for months.
I have to assume this is because, for a while, the price kept getting higher. In most stores Hot Wheels/ Matchbox cost 2€ each now with no increase in quality or variety(a decrease in my opinion).
This is why, for a while, I stopped my activity here and just lurked.
I now much prefer buying older stuff or cars that aren't sold locally. They're infinitely more interesting and varied.

News on the 2015 Retro Entertainment lineup.

This I think can reliably look forward to since the premiums are kept up to date at Walmart.

I want to see this Kawasaki motorcycle. And the 2000GT Roadster. And this Hover mode BTTF Time Machine... and whatever this "new diecast chassis" Dark Knight Batmobile and Bat are meant to be.

Oh, and the Ecto-1 Cartoon Car.... because cartoon car. Hope it's a squarish cute thing and not a "Tooned", "Blings" or god forbid "Fatbax".

TLV is a completely different entity that the other Tomica brands. Their approach and method to designing and constructing is very different. So it wasn't about doing some models that that would have been TL, because they would have turned out totally different. If the rules of creating a TLV aren't followed, the model can't be a TLV.

I've always kinda wondered about this, but I'm bit skeptical as to if they could just increase production volume simply to keep up with rising demand. Honestly, design & build quality of TLVs, they blow away almost every other brand 1/64 cars I buy. Some may come close, but not with the consistency I personally have seen from TLV.

Obviously, this is just my opinion, but I think TLV is the kind of company you just let it do its thing. On this ongoing discussion itself, I already agreed with you that little variety is nice to see.
The Toyota Supra's coming out in June are a nice step in the right direction. Hopefully they continue with it.
Ah, but this isn't a exactly a change in trend, or direction. Supra not only fit in perfectly into their existing lineup, the TLV-3(me, John & Jarrod :p) already was begging for this car weeks, if not months before the car was actually announced. The only surprise here is that they obviously visit GTPlanet, and pay close attention to the input from their fans in this community. :p

90's cars are actually quite common from TLV. They are released as Tomica Limited Vintage Neo. I have many.

I had similar experience with Kyoshos. I thought they were neat, but it was a very casual interest. I saved some money there. TLVs, not so much. :p
I don't recall the IDx or the Nismo GT-R's being "vintage".
They are from the TLV-Neo line. Although IDx & GT-R are by far the newest models they've done, TLV started expanding their line-up into newer(by their standard) cars few years ago.
Now, let's get lay this argument to rest for now, shall we?
 It was a healthy discussion, but yeah, we probably took it as far as it would go. :D

Wasn't Mattel hemorrhaging money? I wonder if their internal issues affect the distribution.

You are so lucky. They were never easy to find in my area, but it's nearly impossible now. Retro Entertainment's pretty much dead to me.
And the 2000GT Roadster.
Lamley - "Yeah, the Toyota 2000GT Roadster isn't an actual Toyota release, it was made solely for the James Bond movie, but this should be a very cool addition to the collections of JDM fans, us included."

So disappointed John didn't tell us "why" it was chopped! :dopey:

I thought "Neo" was its way of declaring a movement on modern cars, but Wiki says the TLV series began in 2004 and TLV-N began in 2006. The TLV-N line also did cars form the 70s and 80s... so basically, the stuff you have now are, according to Wiki, part of the TLV-N line.

To me, I read that like Kyosho's Ferrari Minicar 8 and Ferrari Minicar 8 Neo, where it's a sequel release under the same root name.

What do you think?

Well I have to save something for the actual feature on the model when it comes out. But I am the same height of that Scotsman so when I have a million dollars to buy a 2000GT I might have to do the same.

And to @a6m5's point on the Supra, that is exactly the Supra I was hoping they would make. A little less loved than others. And the Supra falls nicely in line with the R30 Skylines, so it is a logical release. Actually, a car I am really hoping for is the 300ZX. Can you imagine?

And as far as popular JDM models, they have done a Hako, only 4-door, they have done a Kenmeri, only a wagon (I would love to see the standard Kenmeri. No one has done that.), so we are covered there, but a 2000GT would be amazing. But PLEASE no Hako or Kenmeri GT-R's. They would be perfect, but completely unnecessary. One day I should put together my wishlist for TLV. That sounds like an awesome post.

Lastly:

This is why I am so excited about the Crown Wagons. Eric says he and his family still miss this beauty. Outside of the Bellet and CSP311 this is my favorite car to come through the shop.
