:) Am I missing something with that Crossfire??? I think it looks awful, even the standard one looks better than that, and that is something I never thought I'd say!!!

Like Jeremy Clarkson said. The crossfire looks like a crapping dog. The standard one.....
I know what he's referring to, but I do like the look of the back. For me it's one of the most beautiful Coupes available.

Cheers,

Wow,Laguna Seca look much more realistic.I don't know if that's a good thing though.

Agreed - the hood looks like the bottom of a boat and the back end looks like it's squatting over to take a dump (the stock one). As for the drift one - I think they tried way to hard :yuck:

The Laguna Seca course looks bad. It never is that green. But, the 2003 SEMA Winner was looking good. Here is one of two pics of it below.

Oh, the SEMA show will be on Speed Channel tonight at 5PM and 10PM PCT.

Boy!.......Seca looks great! And I agree, it does look alot more realistic. It's nothing wrong with more grass on the course.

A little water on the side of the track can get it that green. Most of the natural "grass" in that area of California is a brownish color, which is why the track is often made that way in games. But after the rainy season, even the brown hills are bright green, and if they simply started watering the area around the course, it could easily look the way it does. Who knows, maybe they've done that on the track, I can't seem to find any recent pictures. In the pics I did find, most of the area right off the track is sand, but it's quite green beyond that.. lots of trees and the like.

As for the topic.. the '04 vote is complete, and for the folks that were worrying, the winning cars will NOT be appearing in GT4. The article I just read on IGN states that they'll show up in a "future version of the game", either GT5 or GT4:Mobile (or both). But since GT4 itself is only a couple weeks from going gold (if even that long)... no sense delaying it.

If GT4 includes the latest GTO from Pontiac, I'd like to race the GTO shown for competition in Grand-Am. And as I said, I like this new GTO. At least it's better-looking than most of the newer machinery from GM. And don't tell me the new GTO isn't aggressive. Isn't 350hp enough for our horsepower-crazy nation? The race car actually looks pretty nice to me. I'm not bothered by the Crossfire drift car. In a way, it just seems like when most people think it's Japanese cars that are being drifting stars, some of this has turned away from the Asian brands. But don't expect any McLaren-Mercedes SLR or anything like that being drifted professionally by a drifting daredevil.

Have to love SEMA folks. I wonder what ideas PD will walk away with from Vegas to put into GT4. And while I'm not totally commited to American Muscle, that GNX is going to be one nice machine to ride in. But I'm kind of convinced about racing that Shelby (or AC) Cobra at Costa di Amalfi or someplace.

Something about the new Lagune Seca scares me....im so used to the GT3 look that the new one just doesnt look right...oh well...i guess i'll have ot adjust...it'd be nice to roll around in style on the legendary track with a Cadillac CTS-V Speed GT Championship racecar...i got to sit in one at the Mid-Ohio race track along with the Wyler.com 350Z EVO car and it was quite nice. Those two cars would be nice to have in the game i think!

Indeed. If only the cars was just ugly. But it has a very crap build quality, it's not fast, the gearbox is terrible...

:yuck:

for 30.000 US dollars, you can get lots of cars that are better. Some even cheaper. One of them is the 300C, from the same company. Cheaper, better looking, more powerful.

To be honest, I find it one of the more succesfull initiatives form an American car maker to introduce a sportive coupe. But, still I don't really like the looks of it. :)

:yuck: WTF? UGLIEST CAR EVAR! Am I the only one that thinks its a peice of crap?
Its just a Merc SLK nothing special.......and i would never drift that POS........

The Crossfire is an SRT-6, so Clarkson never tested that one. It's Chrysler's factory backed effort to replace their Viper Competition Coupe.

They chopped off the roof to save weight and to give better visibility out the side.

I don't understand this..why is it everytime I see a picture of a new game being shown off at an event like SEMA, that the promoters always stick the TV about a foot or two above the drivers head, thereby promoting an unrealistic driving view?

askia47
I think that TV needs to be about a foot or so further down IMHO!

I suppose they put the tvs this high so that everybody can easily watch the driving. They don't put up these things to enable a comfortable drive for the guy in the seat, they want to attract attention. The higher you put the screen, the more people can see it.

Hmmm, I'm thinking they choose the HPA R32 as 'car of the show' soley because they wouldn't have to remodel it to put it in the game (assuming the normal R32 is already in the game). All they gots to do is change a few textures and change a few variables and voila! HPA R32. :sly:

have u seen what the HPA 32 can do? 550 hp twin turbo is a force to be reckoned with...my friend up here at George Mason University has a black Golf 32 and is sending it to HPA for the same Twin T job as the SEMA one  ...granted PD might have been swayed slightly by the convenience of a car that was already in the game but think about it...the performance differentces between the 2 cars is still huge. personally i think that you can't compare the 2 in any way. i wish they would also include the one from Germany...the 1200 hp monster that was in Euro-tuner mags earlier this year....now that is a beast

I'm not trying to take anything away from the HPA R32... any car that can sprint to 60 in 3.6 seconds and through the 1/4 mile in the 11's is fast no doubt. Then again, I never said it wasn't fast. It just seems like the 'easiest' choice for PD to make to include in the game in this 11th hour. 'tis all.

Edit: If i'm not mistaken it has 450hp not 550hp, with 470lb-ft of torque.

It puts out 409whp, which would take the flywheel hp over 500.

au contraire, my friend....here is the real meat: K04 Twin Turbo kit producing 550hp, 0-60 in 3.2, 1/4 mile in 11.49, top speed of 200mph...don't believe me? try this site: http://www.streetracersonline.com/articles/hpar32/
 ENJOY...
