Great work from Kovaleinen...

Red Bulls are in trouble - less fuel - less pace than Brawn.

I think that Rubens of Kovaleinen will win this.

...Impressive still from Liuzzi and a shame Sutil missed pole with that fuel load. Kovalainen the top qualifier as well!

Can't follow that logic :dunce:

Sutil is heavier than Hamilton in a KERS so its ok that he is slower than Hamilton i guess...Liuzzi has less fuel than Kovalainen and is still slower than him, so why is it a shame that Sutil is slower than Hamilton?

Still very impressive performance from Liuzzi, but also good qualifying from Sutil in my opinion 👍

The strategy from Brawn makes a lot of sense. Even if they got p1 and p2 they would've been easily overtaken by the KERS cars on the start. And if happens to rain, it could potentially work for their advantage too.

On the other hand, the cars with KERS could be benefited with a 2-stop strategy, because even if they lose some positions on their first stop, they wouldn't have a lot of trouble overtaking slower cars. Also reminds of Barrichello's win in 2000 in Hockenheim where he started on 18th position and won using a 2-stop strategy.

Whatever the case, tomorrow's race is shaping up to be a fantastic race, can't wait.

It was a great performance from Sutil, shame he is going to be mobbed into the first corner by the KERS cars around him.

There is rain in the forecast tomorrow and if it is, with the fuel he is on, Rubens might just be onto a winner here.

My heart says Rubens is going to win, my head wants Sutil to win

I meant that its a shame Sutil missed out on the glory of a pole position, not that he gains any particular advantage from it. He clearly went low fuel so he could try for pole and he was on a fast lap to claim it but made an unfortunate mistake.
Its just a nice statistic to have next to your name.

Despite the KERS, Sutil may have a slim chance to at least hold 2nd or 3rd if he gets a good start and the others have bad ones. But its a vain hope and he's more likely going to be chasing the KERS cars in a similar fashion to Fisi last race. If he can keep with them though, he may be able to put in some fast laps and jump Kovy or someone. It requires Adrian to be super consistent and quick, and we don't know if he can do that yet.

I'm assuming you got this the wrong way round?!?!

I think i did get that wrong:yuck:

At 30kgs ligher, the front row should clear out easily. Whether they can stretch 30secs out of it, even if they only get 15 in each stint, the option tyre seems to go off in the warmer conditions. So it would seem very unlikely the 2 stopper is the correct stratergy. Kimi 20kgs lighter is even less likely to work, at best he will get 4 laps more than LH & AS and maybe 8 less than the majority of the field. Logic says this high speed circuit is best to be on the track for as long as possible.

Barrichello's time is about a second slower than Raikkonen's, so barring any safety car periods and rain the 2-stoppers might have a chance.

I think ... according to the weight, the BMWs are the heaviest and I think if it rains, with safety car periods I think the 1 stopper would have a big chance to be on the podium...

LH and AS are light , Kimi is quite light too... So for this race, it's hard to predict as the lap times are very close!!! I think zed300 is correct that in such this circuit, it's best to stay out on track as long as possible and the pit lane also very long...

Monza is a testament to why KERS should simply be banned ourtight if anyone decides not to use it. It gives those using it an unfair advantage and creates artificial results. I am, however, rather pleased to see that although Hamilton has pole, he only just edged out a non-KERS car.

And I am deeply impressed to see Button so high up and so heavy once again.

Yeah I agree with you... KERS cars just edged out non-KERS cars... But the only advantage of it is only when someone with non-KERS try to overtake the KERS cars... But when it comes to late braking, non-KERS will be in the game...

Yeah, I'm not seeing this KERS advantage unless you are talking about the race.

Did you guys notice the fuel load of the Force Indias? Liuzzi is considerably heavier than Sutil, which tells me they're trying two strategies and hoping one of them works.

And about KERS, remember how frustrating it was in Turkey when Barrichello was trying to overtake Kovaleinen? But hopefully in Monza the long straights will make draft compensate the KERS advantage should any non-KERS car try to overtake a KERS car. Also for what I saw KERS only charges enough for the main straight, so overtaking in the rest of the track should be ok.

Yeah did notice that... Sutil is way lighter than Liuzzi. But I think we need to have loaded car in such this circuit and my guess would be with Liuzzi up there...

If they decide not to use it... their problem, IMHO. Ferrari and McLaren suffered poor pace at the start of the season partially because they decided to focus on developing the KERS system... now that they're reaping the rewards of sticking with it... their decision was vindicated.

Of course, I completely agree with the scrapping of KERS next year... it's needless, useless complication for the technical formula of Formula One.

Indeed.. plus it's just a waste of money... Just like what BMW had done, they wasted what... 100 Million just for the KERS development and finnaly abandon it... Not an ideal time to talk about the KERS FIA... think aerodynamics more, plus it doesn't waste such money :)

kers this year isnt worth the money but if they where to do as planned next year and give KERS more power then it would be well worth the investment by the teams because that would add up to more then just the tenth that KERS might give right now. abandoning it now would truly be a waste of resources if they would just allow for it to have more power like they promised it would get in the following years. though the problem is i think BMW spent more time working on KERS then aero and for KERS to be effective you still need to have a good aero setup or your just wasting that energy trying to get the car on to the pace it should be.

The only reason I can see KERS is worth it, is for giving back to the car industry, that was at the beginning of the year, was starving for funds.(comparitively)
The way of the car industy is in Hybrid /Electric and F1 was in no way, shape or form contributing. Sponsors were giving less,I guess to the business. So the governing bodies came up with a loose ruling for this year, to entice the dollar back and KERS was born.

Yeah BMW started working on KERS back in July 2008, thought that this year's championship will feature less aero and more to KERS... But it ended up on the other way... They nearly lose one of their mechanic last year during the test.. :(

Anyway, that's Formula 1... Things change pretty fast...

For the british people; Does BBC broadcast the F1 race today? Eurosport maybe? If not, are there any online streaming coverages on the internet available?

I'm pretty sure the BBC do, as in Australia, ONE is using BBC coverage...

I'm not british, but your answers are:
1 - Yes
2 - No
3 - Justin

EDIT: almost 30 minutes to go and I'm already nervous :nervous: I have this feeling Rubens will hit the anti-stall again

And Webber is out on lap 1, Liuzzi pulls a Sato on Hamilton into the Parabolica.

EDIT: \/ I'll explain after the race.

Renault pretty quick at the moment...

Is it safe to say that RBR's chances of taking the fight to Brawn is absolutely gone?

Terrific, clean racing into the first corner back there. 👍

Liuzzi pulls a Sato? He wasn't even close... almost lost position to Alonso on that first corner.

Fisi seems to be getting on well with the car so far...

Damnit! Webber is out!

First round of pitstops... Lewis back out in 5th.

Now in 3rd... first of the short stoppers... he still needs to put in a few blistering laps to beat the Brawns... will be very, very close.

And crud... Liuzzi out with a dead gearbox.

Barrichello for the win, Sutil shining with talent once again, excellent race so far 👍

EDIT: Hold on, I forgot he ran over his wheelgunner

Forgiveable... he's doing well.

Looks like Brawn have this one all sewn up... excellent fuel strategy... looks like the Brawn GP's tire conserving ways gave them enough pace to nullify the two-stoppers.

Damn... crazy stuff from the Timo and Jarno show!

I'm bummed Liuzzi went out... Would have been fantastic result for Force India if his gearbox didn't chuck its chocolates...
