That looked awful. Rubinho has just been to see him in the hospital and apparently he's talking. He's ok. :nervous:
 
And now the timing system has a BSOD. AND ALONSO GETS P1! It's the funniest qualification I've ever seen.

What a funny ending to the qualifying with all the times disappearing and Alonso quizzing everyone :p even better was to see Jenson not notice the camera and show shock the same way 90% of us do on a daily basis haha 👍

I think there would be a huge chance of his foot slumping onto the brake aswell as the accelerator after being KO'ed.
 
It's going to be an uphill battle for JB tomorrow. He's on the dirty side of the circuit and there's three KERS cars - plus Rosberg - between him and the Red Bulls. Let's hope some of Ross brawn's tactical genius will come to the fore here.

Most likely he slumped forward when he was knocked out. His head was very clearly thrown back when the spring struck, and the only way his body could accomodate that shift was for him to follow the contours of the monocoque and move forwards; his head is very clearly lower in the cockpit at the time of the accident than it was beforehand.
 
Massa 's only luck was the impact being 3" left of centre.
It's hard to work out why it(the metal tube) was still bouncing down the road.
Don't think he will drive today in the race , to much swelling I would say.

I feel Webber and Hamilton are the heaviest of the top 5, going only on Q2-Q3 comparisons. Kimi and Jenson look like they are heavy too.
 
I'm not sure but i've heard that an F1 car brake pedal needs around 70 newtons of force to be full on. He can't have been unconcious to apply that kind of force.

It may be an instinct to apply the brake initially, but to maintain pressure as his head slumps forward is unlikely. I guess its possible he just held concioncness until the impact of the tyre barrier, as the front wheels are only just rotating, when he goes across the concrete.

Not fully concious more likely, he probably wasn't in the mental state to differenciate between accelerator and brake so he just pressed down fully on what ever pedal was by his right foot, of course, if he was able to think clearly after the blow to the face he could have avoided the incident understandably he wasn't, but its fair to assume he probably wasn't unconscious as he went off the track.
 
I wonder if Massa will be fit to driver tomorrow? This coming so close to the Surtees incident is shocking.

KERS cars in the 2nd and 3rd rows means turn one will be interesting.
