Seems like the McLarens and Mercs were saving their good tires for these stints. Not going to do you much good when you're stuck back in traffic.

Alonso may take track position from Vettel with the next pit by the RBR.

This is turning out to be a very interesting tactical race...
 
Hamilton now sixth, got to overtake Beumi next (probably has to pit)
 
How did Button and Massa lose so much ground to Hamilton?

Last I checked Button was actually ahead of Hamilton before the pitstops and Massa was right behind both Mclarens. Hamilton even had a messed up pitstop!
 
Vettel pits, but Alonso is still back in traffic, so he still has seven seconds over Alonso.

EDIT: Hamilton got bottled on his 3rd stop. After his 3rd stop, he would have been ahead of both Button and Massa who'd only had two. Now he's just a little ahead. Without the botch, he would have been a lot ahead.

Haha that's harsh. I'm crying everytime, when he is losing, the Altmeister. :(

Oh God German TV sucks, commercial every 10 minutes.
 
Word is that this might be Vettel's last stint of the race. Most everyone else is on a four-stopper. It's possible, Alonso, Webber and Hamilton are on four-stoppers...

And yes... Webber does stop number four... and Ferrari seems to be ready for Alonso.

Vettel does stop number four, for insurance... after everyone else does stop number four. Should be a comfortably easy victory for him... barring any incidents. I suppose they want to avoid a repeat of the last race...

Massa has a problem with a sticking tire, too.

Could be that the incredible cornering forces at this track are causing heat issues with the wheel nuts?

Hamilton asks if he can still get P3 after he takes P4 from Button... he's dreaming... he's over thirty seconds behind Webber.
 
10 Laps Left.... Lotus are 18th and 19th, Hamilton is 5th.

Massa was in gear during the tire change like an idiot.
 
Is that what they said? Because if he was in gear, then he should have stalled.

Speed came to the conclusion that Massa's car was in gear, so they couldn't get the wheel on.

I guess we'll only know for sure after the race...


Fantastic stuff between Alonso and Webber! Alonso is taking the fight back to Webber!
 
bbc came to the conclusion that he was in gear, had the clutch mostly in and the brake off. but it was still slipping slightly on the clutch so the wheel was slill turning.

Okay... two separate opinions are enough for me... :lol:

Vettel on his way to win number three... Webber in second... Alonso doing a fantastic job with a car that is otherwise absolutely woeful compared to the Red Bulls. Hamilton in a disappointed fourth... but really... even without the botched stop, he would still be behind Alonso by quite a few seconds...

Vettel, but I'm not going to say it 12 times. I really like Massa as well.

That was a dominant Red Bull win and weekend. Glad to see Ferrari on the up and up.

Ferrari-based conspiracy theory question...

During qualifying, the two Ferraris were running up to 311km/h and bouncing off the limiter for a distance at the end of the straight on KERS and DRS. As Massa passed Rosberg just then, he was at 320km/h at the same point (presumably also using KERS and DRS). What rules-legal way is there to explain this? The only one I can think of is a software-based lower rev limiter for qualifying.

Both Alonso & Massa got 319.2km/h at the speed trap (on the run down to 12) during qualifying. You can't go by the speeds displayed on screen as they're fudged in some way.

What did Webber say to Vettel? MB didn't want to repeat it..
