Just for giggles, I'm wondering what would have happened during the last 30 laps if Kyle Busch was in Edwards' spot. My hypothesis is that a lapped car would have been put in the wall Hornaday-style to force a Green-White-Checkered finish .

Good GOD.
That race..

Formula One can kiss my butt with the winner getting crowned so many races before the last race.

That was one HELL of a Chase. I love you, NASCAR. And I love you, Tony. :D

Good race, I haven't watched a NASCAR race in a long time. Congrats Tony!

I'll tell you what- Tony Stewart deserved that win. He just wanted it more and fought harder than Carl Edwards ever did. And there was just no way the #99 could chase down Tony Stewart late in the race. I don't basically like Tony Stewart, but I respect him. He wanted it more and raced like it, even coming from behind after some bad pit stops. He deserved this one. Congratulations, Tony Stewart.

I guessed stewart all the way. This was just a rematch of the 2011 MLB world series. Edwards is the Texas Rangers, a consistent, but young team who have come close to winning it all before and have been in front all year, yet have never won the championship before. Stewart is the St. Louis Cardinals, a team who had a rough year, but some how made it to the playoffs at the end of the season. They had a few championships already under their belt, and are more experienced. St. Louis took it in game 7. History has a way of repeating its self, so it was obvious for me to choose Tony Stewart.

That's a pretty neat parallel. What the race reminded me of more, though, was the last day of the MLB regular season this year, just because both were of the I-can't-believe-this-is-real-and-not-a-Hollywood-movie variety.

He also had that hole in the grill. Still not sure where that came from.
If Stewart had led more laps, it would've been so much less dramatic, but no.

Edwards and Stewart were blitzing. Both were great. But my man Tony just blitzed harder.
You could tell he was just focused on driving.. after he won, you could hear him go "Did we get it?". :P Lol.

It was just amazing to see him drive up to the front every restart - pretty bold going 3-4 wide, inside, outside.

What a great ending.

John, I think it's stupid to speculate on crap like which driver "wanted it more." It's something that we can't actually know. Nevertheless, I think that Stewart's team must have figured out something in the Chase that let them dominate the way they did. Stewart vaguely alluded to something of that nature last weekend and said that he'd explain it if they won it all, so we might actually get a concrete explanation of his performance.

Carl Edwards has redeemed himself to my eyes, being fair and clean and a sportsman all the way.

Congrats to Tony Stewart, what a display on tenacity and speed.

A great way to end the championship, what a race!

That overtake was spectacular. It was three-wide already, then Stewart overtakes and makes it four-wide for a second.

Can someone post a video of the end of the race? Im on my iPhone and its not on youtube yet. I've been traveling all day today and I couldn't catch the end of the race. I'm going to start raging if I dont see it soon...

Last ten or so laps Stewart led.. and it was just a matter of looking at Edwards, which was probably averaging about 1.20 seconds behind, I'd say. Eventually he started pulling up to less than a second when Stewart hit lap traffic. The flag started waving to tell lap traffic to let them through, I think.

Honestly, the best bits were when Stewart swerved out to overtake what was already a 3-wide situation. That was totally unbelieveable. Even Kyle gave him some room. :sly:

You should have Justin.tv app on your iPhone!

I was watching the race on my phone while buying groceries lol

That was the most amazing end I have ever seen. Stewart and Edwards settled it out on the track, and there was no margin of error between the two. Kudos to both drivers for delivering probably the best championship battle NASCAR has ever seen. I was geeking, no matter who won.

Anyone who says NASCAR isn't true sport is obviously kidding themselves. This championship race was fantastic. Congratulations to Tony Stewart! :D

A well deserved win and if I'm Carl Edwards, I'd be both hurt yet happy at how the season came to a close. Better to lose to a tie breaker than lose by a few points.

Granted, all of those races where Carl came second to inconsequential opponents must hurt (Daytona 500, Southern 500, 2nd race of Phoenix etc).

Trivia: If NASCAR kept the points structure that it had back before 2004, then Carl Edwards would have two championships!

Yeah if he had won Phoenix, he would have taken the Championship. Damn you Kasey Kahne.
