ESPN is moving Allen Bestwick into the booth as lead lap-by-lap announcer for its NASCAR coverage, which begins next weekend in Indianapolis.

Bestwick replaces Marty Reid for all Sprint Cup races, practices and qualifying. Reid will be the lap-by-lap announcer for Nationwide Series telecasts and ESPN's IndyCar coverage.

ESPN actually has common sense.

Pretty sure I'm going to buy one of these. Relatively cheap at $25.

Or there's one of these for $500.

I remember Allan Bestwick calling down races for NASCAR on NBC along with Benny Parsons. I can tell you that I respect A. Bestwick. I don't really watch too many NASCAR races anymore. No hate or any vendettas... just don't really watch it anymore. But, I do think hearing Allan Bestwick will be a joy.

As the buildup to the Brickyard is heating up, I figured I'll take this time to talk about other levels of NASCAR. This is the NASCAR thread for 2011, so let me pay some respect to the other NASCAR racers in other levels. These are the current championship leaders in various other divisions of NASCAR (divisions other than the top three Touring Series):

• Whelen Modified: Rowan Pennink
• Whelen Southern Modified: George Brunnhoelzl III
• K&N Pro - East: Max Gresham
• K&N Pro - West: Greg Pursley
• Canadian Tire Series: Scott Steckly
• Mexico Series: Germán Quiroga
• NASCAR iRacing World Championship Series: Ray Alfalla

SOURCES: nascar.com (iRacing W.C.) and hometracks.nascar.com (other series)

Again, those are all the current championship leaders in some of NASCAR's other championship series. Just wanted to give the non-Cup, non-Nationwide, and non-Trucks racers some love.

Good luck to all teams competing at Indy this weekend as well as the Trucks at Indianapolis Raceway Park (nowdays O'Reily Raceway Park). I first started following racing in 1998 and NASCAR since 1999. I STILL find it hard to believe that the Brickyard 400 has only been around since 1994. I usually thought NASCAR would have run many circles around Indy prior to 1994. Still, you can say this is one of the best and youngest major races for NASCAR. All I know is- one of 43 men will be kissing the bricks by Sunday evening. Who, though? We shall see!

Just purchased my tickets for the Bristol night race at the end of August. Man, I'm so excited right now.:drool:

I just checked tickets on Sunday and there was a bunch left on Bristol website and various ticket sales websites. I check today and bam, tickets are going so fast today.

It'll be my first Bristol race so hope its a good one. Only ever been to Michigan and Indy.

It is of both frustraited and annoying displeasure that I will not be able to go to Indy like I hoped. I was so excited to get my tickets only to find out I have no way to get there. I don't know anyone that would have been willing to drive me there, I can't drive myself and worst of all, I have no money for any of it. So to count up all the times I haven't been able to go to a race:

2003: Not able to go to the Daytona for the 500 because the tickets were sold out

2008: Not able to go to the Indy 500 because I wasn't fast enough to win the GT5 Time Trial Challenge

April 2011: Not able to attend the race at TMS because again Tickets were sold out

July 2011: Not able to attend the Brickyard 400 because I can't plan or afford anything and cannot get there.

So yeah, I must not be destined to even see a race.

Would you be willing to mail the tickets? Would be a shame to see them not go to use...

I'm not sure at the moment. On one hand I want to mail them off or give them to the guy My dad knows at a nearby used car lot since he's a huge fan, but I also wanna to keep them and maybe store them somewhere as these are the first and only race tickets I've ever gotten and given my rotten luck, maybe the only ones I'll ever have.

I understand where you are coming from, as they would make an excellent souvenir, but I still think it would be a shame for them to be wasted.

Even the guy that sent them to you wanted them to be used no matter what:

I will consider all prospective takers of these tickets as a "give-a-way". One condition, and one condition only. YOU WILL USE THESE TICKETS !!!!! None of this " oh I think I can attend crap ", and then you don't end up using them.

I know someone that is in the Indianapolis area and could put them to use. I understand if you want to keep them, but I think it's the wrong decision. :)

I know, thats why I'm having a hard time deciding.

Well tomorrow is Thursday, which means if you decided to send them you would have to expedite them to him. The original owner of the tickets really wanted them to be used. 'Tis unfortunate that they won't be.

Racecar. please expedite these tickets to RS1600 if he can use them. I understand you cannot use them. however if RS1600 can, then please forward them to him . I ate the 18.00 dollars to forward them to you , next day select, so you could have them in ample time. Please return the favor to someone if at all possible . Thank you.

Don't send them to me! :p

I can get you the address to send them to RACECAR. PM me please!

*sigh* fine. If someone wants the darn tickets, ok. I just hate that I about to hand over the only tickets I've ever had in my life :indiff: . One of you is going to have to tell me how to expedite them if thats what you want me to do.

I have an extra PIR ticket from the Spring race if you want it. I'll gladly send it to you.

If nobody claims them, go ahead and keep them. 18.00 expedite fee, for some souvenir tickets. *** sigh ***. It is what it is.

I have someone that is very interested that lives in the Indianapolis area. We just need to get them shipped ASAP.

So far, no response.

Also, I owe you big time for those tickets. I don't when and I don't how but I will pay you back, I promise.

Good luck to everybody at Indy later today. Should be a great race with the usual insanity NASCAR provides. "Nothing beats first place."
