Can't wait for Vettel to "barrel past" the Toro Rossos though....

This is where I hate that team and why no owner should be able to own and control 2 teams. I really feel sorry for them when they achieve genuine success but then become hamstrung with losing staff and being limited by Red Bull. Its like they're not allowed to race, just run 2 junior Red Bull drivers.

They took their sweet time didn't they.

Apparently it took some time for the decision... Due to Charlie Whitling taking time out to dine

And another one of Alonso's reaction :D

Great news!!

We could be in for a historic end of the season!

If alonso finishes lets say 3rd tomorrow(very realistic i think)
Vettel finishes in top ten getting 2 maybe 4 points(if he does a great race that is...)

Then if we go to USA and Vettel wins as usual, and Alonso finishes 3rd or 4th...

We will have a fantastic season decider a la Hamilton/Massa in Brasil!!!

Man oh man,i allready gave up this championship after last few races, but this is the best turn around ever!

Cant wait for tomorrows race!

Personal opinon :
  1. They should have penalised Seb to be last of Q3 (10th)
  2. Red Bull should have played the "better safe then sorry card" seeing how the championship is this year
  3. They sould fire/suspened the dude who works on fuel stratagie
This just makes me think more and more that F1 is just a rigged show.

^ (even though I'm a Vettel fan :))

Why? When Lewis Hamilton was caught without enough fuel in Barcelona, he was sent to the back of the grid. The penalty should - and needs to be - exactly the same.

To hear Red Bull - and Renault - tell it, there was enough fuel in the tank for a sample to be produced. I've heard one theory on what happened suggest that the fuel was in the bladder, but not in the tank, and that the stewards drew directly from the tank as they always do.

Meanwhile, Ferrari have allegedly approached the FIA during the week, questioning the legality of a system used by Red Bull to change the weight distribution of the car between qualifying and the race by moving fuel and water around in the car. If that is indeed what Red Bull are doing, then assumiung the above theory of what happened is true, it is conceivable that the missing fuel got caught between the tanks. Normally, the car would be able to use it without a problem, but the fuel didn't go where it was supposed to when the FIA drew their sample.

If that is the case, then Red Bull have been too clever for their own good, and the person responsible was Adrian Newey, who designed the system.

This just makes me think more and more that F1 is just a rigged show.
Why? Because someone made a mistake in the heat of the moment, one that had (potentially) dire consequences for the championship? It wouldn't be the first time this happen - Ferrari did exactly that in 2010, when they pitted Alonso to cover off Webber, which allowed Vettel to win the championship.

If he has a good run, it's not too hard to imagine Vettel getting into the points. It's also not hard to imagine Alonso being unable secure anything higher than 4th. So it's very conceivable, maybe probable, Vettel will retain the WDC lead going out of Abu Dhabi. Vettel gets some bad luck, but with his Newey designed Red Bull, still clearly has the upper hand in terms of speed over the Ferrari.

Respectfully submitted,
Steve

Very probably; they'll start him on hards and run him long. I see him picking up some points and Alonso finishing 3rd or 4th, assuming everybody finishes.

However, SV getting stuck behind the FI or Sauber is a real possibility, and if Sauber run super long on hards like they usually do, that will be interesting.

It is amusing how insecure the true Vettel fanboys are. He gets some bad luck and its automatically Ferrari's doing.

Just imagine if SV, not Alonso had been taken out by Grosjean in Spa!

It took about two minutes for insane conspiracy theories of the "maFIA" rigging the outcome at Ferrari's request to appear on other forums. Thankfully, we avoided most of it.

I never did say what they did to Lewis was fair, quite the opposite, I thought that penalty was too extreme. That said, I also think they penalised Hamilton for way to many things this year...
Again, this is my opinon !

Oh ok, I didn't know that because I actually have a life and lots of work and no time to read billions of articles :)

Well of course Ferrari is going to try to prove the Red Bulls are illegal, it would make the championship easier for the  don't you think? Let's go back to 2000-2004 when everyone was trying to do the same to Ferrari.

No no my friend, I'm saying that because everyone says "Alonso deserves more the title this year then Vettel" (think of it what you will), including Ecclestone. I was just joking about that, you should lighten up man

007 Skyfall
Vilan : "She sent you here, knowing that you weren't ready; knowing that you would likely die."
Bond : “Everybody needs a hobby."
Vilan : "So, what's yours?"
Bond : "Resurrection."
Saw the movie this week end, it was awsome, though I was a little disappointed with the storyline...

I am one of the 2 last rats :D

I never mentioned Ferrari was at fault... I am not that stupidly blinded, that you very much !

Okay, number one, Skyfall has nothing to do with this thread, so quite why you're quoting my signature is beyond me. And number two, it doesn't get released here for another three weeks, and so I am eager to avoid any sort of spoilers.

So, Vettel starts from the back of the grid.

Now lets see what your made of Sebastian.

I expect a stunning drive, to prove himself as a worthy champion...

This is Abu Dhabi. Along with Valencia and Monaco, I can't think of a worse circuit for this to happen. Points would be a good result. Let's not forget Alonso being stuck behind Petrov for the whole race.

Not with the 2 turbo buttons, particularly in this circuit (huge straights). In the current season it's miles easier to pass here than in Valencia (that holds the record of in-race passes: 0) or Monaco (there it'd be heroic just passing NK safely)

Let's not forget Alonso being stuck behind Petrov for the whole race.

Although it is a fact that it is strangely difficult to pass on this track, let's not forget that Petrov is in fact quite adept at defensive driving and was also sitting in the car that was fastest down the straight that day. Alonso was very unlucky that it was Petrov, any other midpack car/driver combo would have been easier to pass.

But then again, Red Bulls are notoriously slow on the straights...

Grosjean is going to take Vettle out in turn one.

You heard it here first.

The race should be quite interesting, I'm looking forward to seeing how high Vettel can get up by the end.

Come on Vettel. Make it an interesting race.

Seeing that Grosjean is starting 9th and Vettel is starting from the pitlane I doubt it. Especially as the put exit joins the circuit after turn 1.:sly:

If he does achieve it though, award yourself a cookie.

So Grosjean will park his car by the pit exit and wait until Vettel emerges and then take him out? Hmm, sounds feasible.

Considering the pit exits after Turn Two, Grosjean will have to drive backwards up the pit lane and meet Vettel underground, to do that.

Would be a sight to see.

Would be a tad more severe penalty than the 1 race ban he got earlier in the year.....

Couldn't have heard better news myself. Have nothing against Vettel (quite like him actually) but I like Ferrari more so I'm backing Alonso for the championship. Please Please Please!!!!!!!

Toro Rosso, actually, used to be the only team I liked, mainly because they had two drivers who could really make it truly interesting and who were always in the good scraps for the final points. Alguersuari in particular was on fire at times, and always seemed to make the best of the car, even when he was in the worst possible spot to start (18th). Italy comes to mind that year.

Then they lied. And haven't been the same this year at all. Sure the drivers have done OK this year but 1) not as good as last year (partly down to the evolution of some others I can imagine) and b) partly because at least one of them shouldn't be there in the first place.

I hope anyone other than Vettel wins, because, quite frankly, watching Vettel win a race is like watching paint dry.

Vettel from 24th to 1st would be incredibly interesting to watch?

Interesting, yes, but exciting? Not particularly. :p

Personally, I'm happy for the penalty because we get to see some fireworks. Should be interesting for the first twenty laps or so as Vettel filters through the backmarkers and midfielders. Remember, RBR's double-DRS is very effective. Even if Red Bull had top speed issues in qualifying, cars being overtaken don't get to use DRS, so Vettel will still have that bit extra in it.

I'd be even more deliriously happy if the last few races were done in complete reverse grid fashion. :D

Watching the V8 Supercar race at Yas Marina atm. For such a world renowned and expensive circuit (Over $1.5 billion) the marshall's are useless. It took over 5 minutes to get a firetruck round to a car sitting in the track on fire (Turn 18-19). The marshal nearby just stood there looking on.
They've just dumped a truckload of sand over the oil and debris and left it now.

I never really liked them except when they hired Vettel and Bourdais and won a race. Around then it seemed like Red Bull were happy to let that team do what it wanted and actually have success of its own. (although I've never liked Franz Tost after the earlier incident with Scott Speed).

But ever since its been clear they aren't interested in letting the team achieve success, just have their junior drivers something to drive midfield.

No doubt Vettel will find these 2 cars the easiest to pass out of the whole field, even the HRTs have more fight.

Having Karthikeyan on pole would be a dream come true.

All you people saying this would be a miracle, think outside the square. No where does it say turn 1 lap 1, it could be turn 1 lap 34. And I wouldn't be surprised!
