Vettel will start from the pit lane tomorrow. (Red Bull's decision. They were allowed to start at the back of the grid, but they chose to get the car out of parc fermé.)

As the other 23 cars are out on the grid, waiting for the red light to go out, Vettel will wait at the end of the pit lane waiting for the red light to switch to green.

When you start from the pit lane, you will have to wait much, much longer and he will probably be at least 5 seconds behind the last placed car by the first lap.

It's going to be interesting what changes they will do. New engine? New gearbox? Change gear ratios?
I'm not sure if they are allowed to do all of that, though.

Pity that Alonso has Kimi and Button ahead, still great news for Alonso though. Hope Kimi can get a move on early as often the car starts to go well only in the last third of the race and can hold people up.

Vettel weirdly driving into the wall and now this, strange stuff indeed.

Surely you can't be serious? This happened to Hamilton in Barcelona, and he got demoted to last.

It's absolutely obvious that Ferrari bribed Christian Horner to underfuel that Redbull in Q3.

And they bribed Renault to send that radio message to stop the car.

How sneaky of them. How many millions did those dastardly no-gooders pay Red Bull to sabotage their own race?

On another Ferrari related note.. we can expect the mechanics to be working long and hard for the next 2 races... who knows, some 'jokers' may be used......

Guys, I was just joking since this wasn't the first time that Alonso has a chance of getting into first in the DWC this season from a situation like this.
 
Vettel and Alonso will have tough races tomorrow, Alonso need a great start Abu dhabi is notorious for.limited overtaking, expect alonso to get 3rd maybe 2nd with a bit of luck.Howler by Red Bull though
 
I really don't understand this decisione of the Redbull to let Vettel start from the pitlane!!he,likely,will lose 5-10sec' from the last car,and 20sec' from the head of the race(specially with that strange pitline in Abu-Dabi).........it's illogical and stupid decisione for me.
It would be much better letting him start last in the grid,so with a good start,he should be able to recover 5-6 position and even more!
 
Starting from the pit lane would be a lot safer. Assuming the HRTs and Marussias have naturally poorer starts than the Red Bulls, he can at least avoid getting caught in any contact at the first corner by being in the pit lane.

Conspiracy theory here. Do you think Bernie had a word with the stewards about giving him the harshest penalty possible. Bernie will want the championship stringing along for as long as possible so that he gets better tv ratings and thus probably more money. :D He wouldn't want vettel to beat Alonso tomorrow and then almost conclude the championship.

No. It's the same penalty Hamilton got for the same offence in Barcelona.

Try to throw fanboy-ism away, as all sports fan should be objective (fan of the sport) instead of supporting one guy or team (alonso or vettel fan), and watch the race thinking about how entertaining it'll be.

In the long run you'll have much more fun that way and will outlast a driver's misfortune or retirement.

I don't think so, he did received the same penalty as Hamilton in Spain

As for Vettel's starting place, I think they did the right decision to keep the car safe and losing 5 second and recovering the time in 3 or 5 laps, knowing HRT, Maussia and Caterham, than recovering 6 places and getting involved in any T1 incident with one of the mentioned
 
I would like to throw something in here. Not to sound like a weirdo or "liar", but I had a REALLY strong sense during the whole qualifying session, that it's gonna end desastrously for Vettel, and it did. Subconscious mind>everything else.
 
Anything preventing some red bull juggernaut showing is fine with me. I stopped watching the last two seasons because the domination was too boring. And this is coming from a schumacher fan. I'm tired of seeing that grinning German on EVERY podium.
 
When Vettel can't beat Hamilton with an underfuelled car you know Hamilton is having a good weekend
 
This is just what the championship needs, Vettel to score as little points as possible, for Alonso to catch up. But this is also an opportunity for Vettel to show that he truly deserves his 3rd championship.

I also think he looked like an absolute idiot, standing by his car like that(pictures from F1planet website), he is in the best car, and in the best seat to win the championship, and he's sitting/standing by his car, like he's lost it all.
 
If he has a good run, it's not too hard to imagine Vettel getting into the points. It's also not hard to imagine Alonso being unable secure anything higher than 4th. So it's very conceivable, maybe probable, Vettel will retain the WDC lead going out of Abu Dhabi. Vettel gets some bad luck, but with his Newey designed Red Bull, still clearly has the upper hand in terms of speed over the Ferrari.

Now lets see what your made of Sebastian.

I expect a stunning drive, to prove himself as a worthy champion...
 
This really lit a fire under the championship, it's great. I've been getting texts from people since the news broke that had given up on the season after India, it's great all the way around!

Now I just hope Alonso takes care of himself in the race and just aims for a top five, that's all he really needs although I expect Vettel to finish in the points, maybe 8th? At the same time, this is Vettel's chance to really prove what he's made of, he can still make a miracle drive and get near the top, it'd be wonderful to see him barreling through traffic, not just backmarkers. I'm gonna keep a close eye on him during the race.
This is gonna make the USGP so much better!
