Wow. What an afternoon of football! Chelsea beaten at home by Palace. Liverpool thrashed 3-0 by west ham!
 
Match of the day is gonna be a good one.

De Bruyne is set to join City for £58 million. Good business for Wolfsburg having only to pay £18 million a season ago.
 
Pretty good week for Arsenal in terms of results, City look damn good.
 
Manchester United managed to get ahead of Liverpool without playing their next game yet... :)
 
Spurs are just ugh, Sako is another Bolasie, Mitrovic is a psycho, Liverpool are *****, Stoke are unfortunate and referees are poor.

That's my Gameweek #4 analysis.

Oh, and Chelsea are lol.
 
Some shock results yesterday, nothing really wrong at Liverpool I think, it was just a bad day at the office but Lovren was back to his worst after a good start of the season for him, Chelsea however have got some pretty big problems and it will be very interesting to see what they do about them

Arsenal have some problems to sort out too, I didn't actually watch that game but the fact their only goal was a own goal and Newcastle had 10 men for 75 mins says a lot..

As for Stoke's red cards, Adam's was deserved and Afellay was unfortunate as it was a definite yellow and not a red..
 
Manchester United still ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool even after losing to Swansealona.

So frustrating game, feel like training to become a footballer. :lol:

So you know I support both United and Swansea and its always agony for me when they play each other, Swansea were brilliant for much of the game and credit goes to Monk for changing things around when they went one down, the pass from Ayew for the winner was unreal, we have had a brilliant start

United however weren't so good! I think the most frustrating thing for me was that we didn't create anything or have a proper shot on goal when we went 2-1 down and our plan B was lumping the ball forward and hoping a big guy with big hair would get on the end of it, we have to be better than that, we have got some pretty big problems upfront that need sorting in this window and it will be a big 24 hours or so for the club to see if any business gets done, also Romero has had a fairly solid start to his career up till today but there have been question marks, De Gea would have saved that shot from Gomis that turned out to be the winner, great atmosphere in the ground, would have loved to have been there...

The team you'd prefer to lose if you absolutely had to pick one or the other isn't the team you support.
 
I've tried to pick one over the other when they play each other and I've tried to stay neutal but I just cant, and I've been trying since the Swans got promoted back in 2011..

I know Famine is dead set against being able to support more than one team but I'm right on board with having a small list of other clubs you like or like to see do well, e.g. I always enjoy seeing Connah's Quay Nomads, my hometown team and historically most local team, do well in the Welsh Premier but there's always a crystal clear several-cuts-above-the-rest number one. Always.

I've lived in Germany, there's a German team I root for. I've lived in Greece, there's a Greek team I root for. I live in Slovakia now, there's a Slovak team I root for. All on a small scale but there none-the-less. I've been to watch Austrian third tier football a few times. Even thanks to Football Manager, there's a team in the Netherlands I like. But none of these will ever displace Wrexham as my number one team.

Tangentially related, a Danish guy recently made a 783 mile trip to watch Wrexham play Torquay having had a soft spot for us ever since he played the very first Football Manager on Amiga in 1989, hit random team and was given Wrexham.

Scenario: Take two clubs. Both clubs go bust. Liquidated. Finished. Gone. Never to return. The stadiums are knocked down and all the trophies are melted down. Which one are you more upset about? That's your number one team.

By the looks of your avatar and your name it looks like you are more on the Man Utd side. ;)
 
I have to get a bus to work and that bus drives past the Rushden And Diamonds stadium. A place where as a kid getting to learn the world of football I have a season ticket for around 3 year. I always feel a lump in my throat as we go past it. Pretty sure I'd feel more upset about R&D rather than MUFC.

You must have been devastated in 2011 when Rushden & Diamonds FC actually did go bust and AFC Rushden & Diamonds took their place much further down the non-league pyramid.

Incidentally, I absolutely hate the AFC prefix. AFC Telford United. AFC Wimbledon. AFC Rushden & Diamonds. AFC Hornchurch. Even FC Halifax Town. All too common with phoenix clubs but it's become so unoriginal, even though some clubs like Bournemouth and Fylde also have AFC as a prefix. Not only that, but it really annoys me how those clubs are alphabetised beginning with A. AFC Telford and AFC Wimbledon are always near the top of the A-Z on BBC Sport and on their respective division pages, with FC Halifax Town under F. Really, it's Telford, Wimbledon and Halifax now. It just is.

Wrexham 3-1 Torquay United: 4,731
Wrexham 3-0 Aldershot: 4,951
Wrexham 1-0 Welling: 5,277
Wrexham 3-1 Halifax Town: 5,662

Unbelievable attendances for the fifth division. Saturday's 5,662 at the Halifax game was better than 8/12 League Two attendances, 6/12 League One attendances and 5/6 SPL attendances.
 
About as upset as when the news broke about Dale Roberts and his passing. Hurt even more when the cause was released.

I've tried to keep up to date with AFC Rushden but it's hard to follow a team of that level online and they don't play their home games at either Rushden or Irthlingborough. Played 6 miles away in Wellingborough.

What happened to Nene Park? I thought the new club stayed there as well.
 
Nope it's just deserted. Drive past 2 times a day on the bus. They build a doctor's just across the road from it but the place has that "not touched in years" look to it with overgrown grass etc.
 
That's a shame. An abandoned football stadium must really be a depressing sight.
 
Big stuff happening in the transfer market on the last full day of the summer window, first up is that Sky Sports are saying that Real Madrid are in advanced talks with United over De Gea, deal thought to be around 30 million Euros plus Keylor Navas, the Spanish window shuts tonight...

Secondly, Man United have agreed a fee with Monaco for their young French striker Anthony Martial for an ear-watering £36 million!, if the deal goes though it will make him the worlds most expensive teenager, he started his career at Lyon then got signed by Ranieri at Monaco in 2013, he scored 11 in 52 for them and he has just been called up to the French senior team for the first time, he is been touted as the next Henry...

Adnan Janazaj is at Dortmund on a season long loan, Lindegaard is in talks with West Brom and Chicharito is in talks with Leverkusen over a £9 million deal, all these players leaving, United better know what they are doing!!

There are some other transfer stuff not involving United (believe it or not! :p), Sunderland have signed Borini from Liverpool on an initial £7.23 million deal rising to £9.75 million and Chelsea sign a defender from Nantes whose name I cant spell for £2.7 million

The German transfer window has just shut, biggest deal from there today is Wolfsburg signing Julian Draxler from Schalke..
 
So does that mean Hernandez has either got his deal completed and it's just finalising paperwork or its fallen through?
 
Martial must be the most expensive 60 something rated player in FIFA history.

Anyway. What the hell are United doing. Honestly. No point talking about de Gea (sob) anymore since we now have Navas, and the last time I saw him he was cocking up a backpass. I mean apparently he's still pretty good but he's not going to be what de Gea will surely. No idea what to make of Januzaj's loan, but then van Gaal doesn't know what the hell to do with him so OK. Losing Chicharito is obviously bad because strikers, but many fans are very bitter at him for favouriting this tweet which brings me neatly to Martial.

Spending £36m (no matter what his contract) on something that might not even happen - a 19-year-old future project - isn't just risky. It's almost luck-based. While he looks nifty enough as a player, a well rounded attacker, and I hope he makes it big time and he pays off his price tag a million times over, the fact is, in today's world of football anything can happen when you're 19. He needs to take all the chances he has. If not...

I don't even know what the line-up will be next time round. Just as well we've got an international break to think it over...
 
I agree that 36 million is outrageous and I would love to keep Hernandez. Always liked the little Mexican but you could tell when he missed that penalty that his time at Old Trafford under LVG was over.
