I used to play Thunder 2004 all the time just because of the music tracks. That game had a killer soundtrack.
First clue about 09 on PS2 was that there was a second driving mode. "Easy mode"? "Simple mode"? Whatever it was called, if you decided to turn, even if you were on the outside at Daytona, you went at full lock, and without any resistance.
"Zero-tolerance policy" says otherwise... for anyone connected to the sport. Even shareholders.I didn't see anything about not allowing criticism at all, just not wanting drivers to do it in public. Granted I think it's still stupid to not allow it, but I can see the reasoning behind it.
If any kind of union for drivers were to emerge, it needs to be on a national level, not just NASCAR. But.. I don't see a need for one.The Frances have been running the ship like this for over 70 years when it comes to organized racing. They aren't going to change their view on this until a union pops up, which will happen someday.
Honestly the RTA was the best bet for one. But as I predicted when they formed, when they couldn't get their TV money, they became an insignificant alliance that is dedicated towards saving money. If any kind of union for drivers were to emerge, it needs to be on a national level, not just NASCAR. "While NASCAR gives its competitors ample leeway in voicing their opinions when it comes to a wide range of aspects about the sport, the sanctioning body will not tolerate publicly made comments by its drivers that denigrate the racing product."
My issue with it is that these aren't actual things. NFL players speak out all the time without fear of the league fining them. NASCAR wants to control what these drivers say 24/7, even though the comments the drivers make will do less harm than the backlash from fining them for making them.I understand people not liking France (I'm one of them), but why is there a need to take things out of context and spin things when there is plenty of other actual things to use against him.
Direct quote from France... in the very same article.... which is where my previous comment on it came from. Nothing was taken out of context. Here is the comment actually made by France and not the person that wrote the article.

"We can't have our most important stakeholders, drivers, teams and tracks, working against putting the best steak on the plate we can -- that's where we draw the line," he said.

Addressing a number of newsworthy subjects some six weeks ahead of the official start of the 2015 season, France reiterated NASCAR's zero-tolerance policy on comments made by drivers and other stakeholders that could be considered critical of the product on the track.
"We can't have our most important stakeholders, drivers, teams and tracks, working against putting the best steak on the plate we can -- that's where we draw the line," he said.
And then the quote from France himself....
Anything else you need clarified, because the article is pretty damn simplified already...
Bob Varsha broadcasted F1 races on nbcsn in 2013 when he was still under the FS1/Speed contract. I think Mike will stay.So abit of an interesting bit for you guys:
So Barrett Jackson beginning this year has a new TV home and that is on...Discovery/Velocity and not on FS1 (Formerly, Speed Channel). Why is this are all relevant to this thread? Because as long as this has been on Speed Channel (after it was bought up by Fox), one of its main stalwarts has been Mike Joy, one of the commentators from Fox's NASCAR coverage and guess what? He's on it right now. Now maybe I'm looking too much into this but I'm of the impression that for the first time, Nascar on Fox will not have Mike Joy this year.

I miss how those cars looked and their liveries. Some Jeff Gordon stuff.
Apparently his number was supposed to be 46, but due to a licensing agreement forced them to use a different number.
