Heaviest rain seems to have stopped and the sun is peeking out... I expect an SC start still but it could dry up just enough.

I would have been shocked if it didn't rain looking at how grey the clouds were. Should be good for Fernando and Jenson if they have a clean race and may have Red Bulls challenging the Mercedes. :) Race got a whole lot more interesting before it even started. British summer weather. 👍

Sick of seeing Geri and the clinger on Emma interviewed at nearly every bloomin race just because she married Horner
On a certain level, it's good that there is celebrity interest in the sport; I'm really curious to see how the sport capitalises on Taylor Swift's performance after the race in Austin. But lately Martin Brundle sticks to the front three rows of the grid, and only really talks to drivers and team personnel who happen to walk by. Otherwise, it's obscure celebrities like Spice Girls and former boxing champions. The weather just threw a curveball, so Brundle should be down at Force India, talking to Bob Fernley, Hülkenberg and Pérez, because if anybody is going to do something interesting with tyre strategy, it's them.

SC start, not completely unexpected because of the amount of standing water on the straight but I think they should've waited on the call. On the upside it should only be one or two laps under SC. Looking forward to this.

Cool, now they can safely follow the safety car on wets for a few laps then immediately dive in for inters.

Everyone collides in T1 thanks to the Mercedes duo except the McLarens putting them a lap ahead of everyone else. Alonso and Button go on to produce a proper race between world champion teammates. No collisions, no arguing post race, just a proper fight up front.

Please if there is a racing god, make this happen. :D
Funnily enough I was joking at work about a turn 1 crash involving all the drivers apart from Jenson who finally gets a win at his home grand Prix. Really want JB to get his first British GP podium bit sadly isn't very likely to happen this year.

To be fair it's not their choice, I'd imagine most drivers would want to do it properly.
I never wanted to "mock" the drivers. Just the officials who never get tired of saying that F1 only has the best drivers in the world, yet they don't think that they can handle themselves in wet conditions.

Lewis cheating confirmed. If they start under the safety car, Rosberg can't beat him off the line... :D

What a load of bullcrap to start behind the SC. That's a great way to take away any excitement that rain can bring.

How about they have Pirelli run their test car before the race start in these situations to see just how the conditions are before making seemingly conservative calls like this?

I bet many would start on inters if they were allowed, it wasn't that long a shower.

That's good to know, just wonder if we're ever going to see a proper start when the track is wet again.

Actually I just thought of the answer, not as long as Pirelli is the sole tire supplier.

I don't think it was the wrong call per-se, they just made it far too early.

It's not about wet conditions, it's about standing water on the grid. I'm the first to defend SC starts because I think they got a lot of unnecessary stick from people who don't understand why they're implemented, but this was just a case of it being called too early.

I was watching CH4's coverage. I agree it's good to talk to celebs it's just Geri annoys me... and they talk to her all the time!

They always use the safety car to gauge conditions which is silly.

Shame. Lewis bottling the start is probably one of the few things that would have made the race up front interesting.

But then, with changing conditions, anything can happen.

Game on!

Why not do a couple of warmup laps to get rid of the puddles and then have a normal start.

By the way friendly reminder before the start, we don't need commentary in the thread, we are all watching it.

I'd rather see them race while going 50 kph on a wet track than going around 120 kph behind the safety car.

Le Mans started under a dull safety car... and that was a boring event. (It wasn't of course)
