Interesting FP1 for MotoGP. Looks for some shuffled Qualifying compared to last year if they keep this up.
Also, have gotten another explanation to what the Factory 2 Class is about.
They get to run under Open Class regulations but as this was a Factory Class Team Dorna implemented a rule/penalties which now goes for all Open Class Teams.
If they win a race, come 2nd twice or finish 3rd three times they will get dropped down to 22l of fuel usage for the next races. In the event where they win 3 races they will lose the softer option rear tyre.
Also also, as they (the Open Class) are permitted to run with 24l of fuel, most of them won't. Ducati e.g. will run with just over 23l and the Hondas (RC1000R) only have a 22.5l fueltank.
So having to drop down to 22l won't be as much of a penalty for the Open Class. The reporters also mentioned that the softer option rear tyre, which the Open Class may use, would not be suitable for a race as it wears down and loses almost all grip after just three laps.
With all this in mind I can see some more rule changes in the future.
