Any tips on getting a driver autograph? It'd be awesome if I could get Brad, Joey, and Ryan to sign my Snap-On hat.

Just got home from Daytona, such a fun weekend. (even though I was sick half the time I was down there)

Great finish to the 500, although I wish Truex had gotten the win.

What did you thought of the new stuff they did to daytona? It makes me really wanna go back to the track more than ever

I wonder if they will have a full field next week. The 26 59 and 83 were one race deals and only the 98 is a fulltime team of the others that missed Daytona

I think it's the 93 that was a one race deal. Dibenedetto is supposed to be back in the 83. Outside of that and the 98, I don't believe they are gonna have a full field.

The last race that didn't see even 40 cars was the final race at North Wilkesboro, 1996. Only 37 cars started that event. 7 of the 31 races in 1996 saw 39 or fewer entries.

They did an awesome job with the improvements, much better than it was. 👍

Seating is much more comfortable, the new fan/concession areas and the escalators are a nice addition. This year they even redid the shuttle pick up/drop off area so we were able to get in and out of the track faster than before.

I know they usually make raced versions of winning cars, but this seems to be a step in a new direction.

Wow, the lengths some people will go to, to make fun of/put down Danica. This isn't even a licensed product, just a car someone damaged themselves and put back in the package to make it look as such. I'm not a big Danica fan myself, but it really gets old seeing how people want to slam her just because she's a female participating in a predominately male sport. People really need to stop with this childish behavior and just let her be. She may not be the best, but she is certainly not the worst thing that happened to NASCAR.

Granted I'm sure there are some that dislike her for that reason, it's not why most people do though. She gets the amount of hate she does because she's constantly being put in the same category as the top drivers even though a good finish for her is a top 20 (granted this isn't really her fault). Not to mention she used to have a tendency to throw hissy fits when something didn't go her way (she's certainly matured, but just like Kurt Busch, the reputation follows you for a long time).

People dislike her because she is what she is because of her looks and not her talent. Her "fame" was a creation of the ESPN hype machine and not her talent as a driver.

Racing career summary
Races entered 358
Wins 1
Podiums 14
Pole positions 6
Fastest laps 3
Race win percentage 0.3%
Podium percentage 3.9%

Hell, even I hate Danica. As has been said, it's a "she doesn't have talent and is wasting a good seat" type of hate, and it's founded.

NASCAR is also to blame, not just ESPN or other sport networks. It all comes down to selling products and endorsement deals, marketing etc. She does that. There's no denying she has talent, she's just over hyped. So is Dale Jr really.

That's what NASCAR is now, that and royally jacking with things to try to make it more "fan friendly" or increasing ratings/viewership. They can't keep anything the same, and this chase thing they keep "modifying" each year is a joke. Change can be a good thing, but when they are constantly changing, it makes them look desperate. Like they are changing something because they had It so wrong to begin with.

This is coming from a guy who grew up watching it in the 1980's. I used to watch it all the time, now I can only stand a few races a year. I'd much rather go to a local dirt track than watch a NASCAR race anymore, especially when the sprint cars come or world of outlaw late models.

No need to through stats at me, I already know them myself. Yes, there was a lot of hype surrounding her and her introduction into the sport, but she did pass all the requirements NASCAR has to be able to participate in the sport. And, just to add to your stats that you forgot to include, she did finish 24th last year, 8 spots ahead of drivers who raced in the same number of races.

And @Northstar , she is not the only driver to through hissy fits when things happen. You mention KB, but almost all NASCAR drivers have went through this "terrible two's" stage. She is really no different than any other driver (other than her being female of course) if you just take a step back and look at the big picture. I just think people hate on her just because she is a female...its not that hard to see. Like I said, there are other drivers who are worse or have done worse things than she has, people just don't say much about it because, well....you get the picture.

@Angel I could say that about 10-12 other drivers, but they of course are men and for that reason nothing like that gets said about them. Your post just further backs up what I'm trying to say...thanks. :sly:

How often do you read this thread?

How often do you read this thread?

Why does that matter? I'm guessing you think I don't read it at all because this is the first you have heard from me in awhile. Newsflash though, I read it every day....beginning on the first day this thread was created. Just because I don't post doesn't mean I don't read....very wrong assumption on your part.

Except that's not why people don't like her (otherwise, shouldn't that apply to the likes of the Force Sisters, Katherine Legge, Susie Wolff, etc?) . People don't like her because she's a moving billboard who's pockets are bigger then her talent. This is the exact same reason people hated Paul Menard and John Wes Townley (two males BTW ;) ) before they got all competitive and winning things.

Good to see you again after a while but dude, no need for the damning generalization in bold.

Her temper doesn't help her cause either. She tends to throw fits and fly off the handle a bit, and it's never her fault when she's involved in a wreck. She can come across as a spoiled brat at times. I'm actually shocked she didn't make a big deal about getting wrecked at Daytona. I was a bit surprised when Stewart-haas let Newman go and kept her, but I guess she's much more of a marketing brand then him. Plus I don't follow it as closely as I used to, there might have been other stuff there.

A female racer i really like is Sarah Cornett-Ching. She is a pretty good racer, currently climbing up the Arca ladder.

This chick has better talent and is more deserving than Danica..
