That's quite a shock, since the main reason Stewart left JGR was because he wanted to stay with Chevy, which is when JGR announced the switch to Toyota.

Bowyer will drive all three manufacturers in three years.

Wondering if Stewart's involvement with the team is lessening?

Stunning news but maybe because Tony will no longer be driving he has less affinity to GM. Still, it's hard to justify this is a move up.

It's possible that they might believe they can beat Penske and become the top Ford team.

Something that they can't solidly accomplish under Hendrick and Chevy.

This will also be the first time that Harvick and Danica will drive Fords in their careers. A lot of big things to note with this.

I'll hazard a guess and say that SHR next year will be more competitive than Tri-Wreckta Racing (Roush). I see this going as either they'll start by affiliating with Penske or they'll go on their own and try to become the lead team. The little article here says that Tony thinks it'll strengthen their position in NASCAR, so I'm going to assume that they want to become the Ford lead team by doing the latter.

...Why would you go with Roush when Penske has the superior engine package right now?

Oh. I was under the impression that Penske had its own in-house engine package apart from the RY engines.
That was the big deal when Penske left Dodge. Penske closed its own in-house engine shop, and started getting engines from the Roush-Yates shop.
